From a rusted out 4WD with a blown engine to a BMW M57 3.0L Turbo Diesel 6 Cylinder, and the 3rd person in Australia to do this! Jesse has transformed this dead GU into his ultimate dream Nissan Tourer!

Great episode of 4wd 24/7. IMO beers in a shed is getting tired and although Graham is a legend I don’t think I watched a full episode of his touring.

Great car. Here in Poland we've got more Patrols with BMW engines than stock ones. But a patrol with tuner 3.0d BMW engine with over 330HP with 8hp gearbox goes nicely. Cheers.

I ❤ watching this. I have a 1998 GU patrol in my backyard sitting doing nothing as its got gas fitted to a motor that the gas isn't 100% compatible with so driving it had to stop as it now sounds like a loud old lawnmower. I'm no mechanic and did not put the gas in. It was already in when i purchased the 4x4 back in 2013. Don't really know what to do with it but can't bring myself to sell it while it can't be driven. This episode is giving me ideas that I would not have thought to do and its inspiring me to get moving to start getting it drivable again. Thanks Jesse for the inspiration. Great to see another nissan supporter here on the sunny GC (gold coast)
As a friend of a bmw fan id recommend going to bmw and grabbing those 4 rubber orings that go between the valve body and case
over time they can compress and allow fluid to slip past the seal resulting in delayed shifts 👍
M57 is now replaced with a B57 which is used in the Ineos Grenadier. Tuned for offroading and touring.

LITERALLY THE MOST POPULAR ENGINE SWAP FOR PATROLS IN POLAND (multiple companies do it as their main business)
Do they put them in land cruisers?
@@__beer__ not regularly, there are a lot of patrols in Poland but we never really got land cruisers apart from the 150 so they are very expensive and rare

Did you know that M57 and ZF gearbox are also used in the L322 Range Rover which are most reliable combo.

Jesse I removed bubbled dash and cleaned of all the old glue & vinyl covering (what a mess ) Recovered myself with Car Builders 4 way stretch carpet and their high temp spray adhesive. Came up mint. :)

Wow, absolutely speachless! Adding Jesse to the team was the best 4ws247 could ever have done. See him and Jock building and Wheeling is just too good.
For what you do, I reckon those console sized kings fridges are the go. The are modular, so two can be moved around based in what you're doing. Otherwise I just put an upright in the back of the wagon to get rid of the need for a fridge slide. No more rattle from the slide when on tracks and easier access
You won’t regret it , I have a GU m57 patrol with a stock bmw 6 speed gearbox matted to a patrol transfer case. 1150 NM of fun!!!

For you touring set up I definitely recommend Milwaukee packout drawers light weight and if you need space in the back during the week or for tools you can unlock them and they come straight out
Bloke could easily do his own channel, keen to see the hybrid or touring and tough tracks build. Lightweight ideas will be mint

Awesome conversion!! I had an M57TU in my X5. Tune and exhaust, it would chirp all 4 wheels off the line. Loved it.
My mums craptiva does it if you torque it up first. No tune needed

There is a twin turbo M57 from the 335d, 535d or X5 35d with 286hp/600Nm stock.
Daily driver is an E53 X5 with the same motor and a 6 speed auto, they just work, and work well. Over 400k k's on it and not much work needed, 600-700nm of torque is easy done with a factory turbo. Just wish I knew this build was coming because, between myself, a frined in town here in NZ, and the guys @ZeroTo60Tube, it would've made it a great end result, those guys are next level with the 8HP ZF box and what they can do. Either way, it's going to to be good, too bad @theskidfactory didn't want to listen when I said this conversion gets done, and now you're the first on YT to do it. Any info I can give Jesse just give me a yell, I do wanna see how you wire this one
