40k for a shop to fully handle the swap, who has the expertise is a very fair figure.
While I’m sure you could find another shop to do it cheaper initially. They will be learning as they go, and there will be endless teething issues along the way which will drive costs up.
I’ve learned, you never actually save money doing that. Just suck it up, and pay the experts.

The other thing that's an advantage with the M57 is that it's only 13 mm (0.5 in) longer than a Td5, despite the extra cylinder. The Ineos Grenadier uses the B57 by the way, which is a lot better than the N57.

The M57 actually has the cast iron block and single turbo which makes it far more reliable then the aluminium N57

Bombproof super reliable and never seen one die.........let me know if you know of one that has and it will probably have more than 500k on it.
Next breath "we fully rebuild all of ours, and if you consider fitting a second hand unit make sure it has less than 100k"
Either they are reliable and can easily do 500k (at which point throw a 300k engine in knowing it will last another 200k" or low miles are important?
I am getting mixed signals all the way through this video.

Dave, you and your staff build some amazing Land Rovers.
We can't source newer Land Rovers here in the US so some have bought into the world of Ineos.
The Grenadier uses the B58 in The United States and and as a owner the the Ineos seems to be a good truck.
I enjoy watching your videos and seeing some really nice Land Rover builds.

Bloody hell Dave, some incredible stats and facts in this episode, I’ve had a few 3.0 S6 BMW cars and can certainly attest to their reliability in the original form…would love to put the 400hp version in the Wolf with an auto box but £40k is indeed a hefty price tag, but worth it IMHO, will you take kidney in part exchange, 1 careful owner, vgc, probably over a million miles by now though 😂 ❤ Mahker

May be a bit of a stupid question, but feels as if we may be getting shafted soon for older diesel vehicles. Would there be any possibility of a similar bmw in-line 6 petrol version. Aware you do big v8s that are petrol, feel in some cases that may be a bit excessive for certain circumstances.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but are you able to provide any guidance on how an owner would go about advising any authorities (thinking of the DVLA) of such a change. Do you provide any documentation to support the conversion that the DVLA would accept, or am I worrying about something that is actually a moot point? Hopefully owners who have had this conversion done could chime in with their experience?
