- We take Connie Celica, our RA24 1977 Toyota Celica GT coupe, to Touge Tuning in Mississauga, ON where Sasha from OnPoint Dyno dials in a custom calibration on our Link G4+ Fury ECU. After that we head to NV Auto where Master Nam does a custom 4-wheel alignment before Dov road tests the car on the way back to our shop.

3sge. the 4a's younger, more athletic brother that never gets as much praise cause he made it into college sports later
you mean the 4AGE is a better swap?
@@kiksa101 Re-read it again. 3sge > 4age.
3S-GTE Uber Alles
Love the 3s-gte from the old Supras in Gt500
M20A-FKS looks promising
I think this has been my favorite build of yours to watch. So excited to see it coming together.
Really enjoyed the video editing for the dyno portion. The clips were hilarious!
This is such a great build! I love the 3S motors. They never got the attention and praise they deserved.
Wow, Connie sounds so *GOOD!* Sasha at On Point Dyno nails the tune like a boss once again, and the rest of Connie's all star cast at NV Auto finalize the setup and footing, then make Connie sing the song of our people on a public road! All the trumpet sounds! Angry chainsaws in a sleek classic Celica's engine compartment, life is good!
Hey. Just came across your channel.
Brings back memories!!! I’m in Kitchener. Used to hang out in Scarborough a lot
My first car was a 78Celica GT sport coupe. Lowered, Had the 2.0R with the dual Webber carbs and a 5 speed. I Flared the fenders (not those fake flares) with the Kamei front air dam. It had 15” turbine rims 8.5” in the rear with 245/60’s and 7” in front with 225/60’s with BFGoodrich TA’s. Had Recaro special edition seats in it with a wicked Blaupunkt system inside that pounded. I was one of the first people that had a boomin system in cars back in the day.
I built the car in 84ish. It was metallic blue with black interior. . I smoked ZR1’s and a Ferrari 308 all day! My cousins neighbour had a Chevy Nova with a big block called “Rat Poison” that I smoked!
I miss that car!
I came for gwwwwhhhaaaannnn. Not disappointed.
This is the only video of yours I've ever watched. The cut from the sweet sound of ITB's to the sweet sound of Lucky Chops @ 4:16 made me instantly subscribe. Brilliant move there that got me in the feels. I'm not sure what else I'll find on your channel, but if that moment was any indication of the quality of your videos, I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking around for a while.
4:15 you guys fucking killed me with that 😂😂😂
So glad to see this running, beams engines sound amazing at the limit
Great job guys! I've noticed the torque dip in the low mid range on almost every beams I've tuned as well. Sort of moves around with breathing mods on either side.
Dude, it's awesome to finally see this car on the road. Congratulations brother!
So great that the Celica is running. Congrats
Incredible car, incredible build, incredible content. You guys nailed it. Congrats on the successful finished product! Im excited to see whats the future holds for Connor.
Finally a video where the Celica steering gear issue was at least noted and even an attempt to do something about it. I think it needs new custom machined parts. A mig weld at the steering component... well...
I just ordered a 3SGE with 6 speed to swap it into my 78KE30 Corolla, hope to have it this clean, your build is bad ass....
Is the 3SGE 6speed rear wheel drive?
@@kiksa101 yes it is....
@@509Familia which of the 3GSE's is front wheel drive? I would like the engine conversion in my 1998 Toyota Conquest.
@@kiksa101 honestly I don't know, I'm new to the 3sge,...
Celica T16/T18 and T20. The most powerful is the Redtop BEAMS, found in the T20 SS-III. It comes with VVT-i and makes 200hp. The "normal" 3SGE out of a T20 isn't too bad either, with 175hp (and without VVT-i).
Great work getting it all together. It has been a fantastic project.
I drove a modified 1976 Celica that was modified back in the 80's. That thing would run. The only NA 4 banger that would through you back in the seat. It was crazy and fun.
Nice guys finally i have been waiting to see this car drive for sooooo long
Dave the Beams sounds wonderful, happy for ya. Hope there isn't already snow in the great white north
The only place that really has snow right now is Alberta. Everyone else got lucky :(
I'm in the Bay Area in California and we got rained on pretty good for the beginning of fall so I figured the great white north may have some snow
What a tease! Sounds amazing
Love the classicness of this build. Splendid job sir.
Wicked Celica! So Refreshing to see it on the road and driving.. I am currently doing a full RESTO on a 1983 AE86 Zenki Levin, Cant decide weather to run my 4AGZE or BEAMS. Thanks for the wicked content! PeaceBro
Thanks Dave! I had to put a 70s Celica on my car wish list because of you!
No, no, no, they're terrible, don't think about them (till I get hold of my GT liftback, then proceed. :) )
ha love the lucky chops reference. Connie looks great!
Someone was in a good mood while editing, and I love it!
This one is going to be a keeper.
Ken get your windshield fixed we don't want anything bad to happen to The Ken .
Congratulations Dave it has been great to watch your journey to build your dream car.
What if you guys did some episodes with Moose and Ken together?
Keep up the great work guys I have really enjoyed all of your content. Thank You
Ok, so I was going to troll Ken for that windshield, but my conscience wouldn't let me since he's been in school and I've seen the progress he's made on his rotary, now LHD, RX7 FD. Anyone seeing this who wants to see Ken's FD should definitely go to Speed Academy's website for well written and well photographed updates. Good stuff, check it out! ✌😎
glorious itb sound!
Once he had that idle tune set up it sounded sooo much better. Great sound thru the revs
FUCK YEAH! I waited till i had time to fully appreciate this episode and boy was it worth it! Connie is a BADASS! Good choice with the Beams and ITBs, she sounds amazing! Can't wait till she's painted and going full send round the local track!
I wanted to do a build similar to this a couple years ago, except with a 3sgte and try to sort out the oil starvation. But i wanna go back to school first.
*Sasha* You are the magic maker!!!
So removing the spacers will surly have changed the alignment? But who need's negativity when your show and builds are so awesome!!
Congrats man ! good to see the car on the road
Sounds amazing!
Omg that sound, it screams like like hell is let loose!
Soooooo nice!! 👍🏻
that trumpet clip fukin killed me lmao
love the sound of itbs
Way to go boys. Love your work
so happy to see this think moving on its own power!! next thing you guys need to do is get rid of the sunroof!!! will give it more structure as well for the track
Definitely deleting the sunroof when it goes out for body & paint.
Holy Fuck!! i was waiting for this since the beginning of the build. Congrats guys, awesome job!
ITB + TURBO !
woowoo! She's looking and sounding so good!
Can't wait to see this on track. Love the sound!
1:33 & 3:48 Mmmmmmmm... I love the "braap" of a Beams engine with 20v throttle bodies. This engine, the 16v and 20v 4AGE are amazing!!
I need an AE86 badly...
I have an ae86 and the original blue top 4age. I love the way these sound but I want more power. But the sound has to be the same.. do you also hear that secondary tone when it starts to get into 5000rpm range? I have only heard this sound in toyota engines and only some of them. thankfully the 3sge beams has it
@Joshua Szeto If you own a AE86 you're a very lucky man, you cherish that thing. I've been lusting for one for 7 years now, and no luck... they're as rare as albino unicorns where I'm from. But hey, I had the pleasure to drive a stock one with the Bluetop and to be honest, I think it has enough power, but that's me... I'm a fan of stock cars, but if I had one and engine swap it, it would be a 20v Blacktop or a 3SGE Beams.
Lol I need to finish my ae86 man. 4age 20v block with smallport pistons and 16v head. Fuel pump is kicking my ass
@@viriatvsoflvsitania5422 the one I have now is actually the third one I have owned. Somehow made a profit on the last two. But this one is my baby. And the younger brother FRS ..
Me too mate. Though due to the high price of the 86's, I've been thinking getting an E70 gen Corolla like the KE70 or a TE71 and modify them with AE86 parts since the E70 chassis is very similar to the AE86's.
Surprised you guys didn't rev it further more power is there
Most stock cam beams make peak around 7700ish. I usually limit them at 85-8600 for wheelspeed purposes..
Didn’t you add the wheel spacers so the wheels would clear the brake calipers ? Pretty sure that was the plan all those months ago.
Thanks a lot Dave! Now I want a 1st gen Celica.... :)
Mmm...Connie is looking and sounding great. Well done.
Looks absolutely awesome, well done lads!!
ever since i saw this build my dream project car is to make a Baby LFA with the Celica chassis I want to get this car so badly...
I love this car.
Just wondering if you guys would mind sharing your vvti target maps
I want to see a Connie Celica vs K240 battle when they are both done.
Done deal!
Word.
She sounds great
This is what I've been waiting for
These videos have been a big inspiration to me and my Celica project. Before you guys there was not much out there for early Celica's with all these awesome mods! Can you guys please post your alignment specs? I've got a similar setup and I'll be getting her aligned soon. Thanks again!
Haven't seen Sasha in a hot minute!
From garage to track go job guys
i love this! keep up the great work!
About time! I've been in a cryosleep waiting for this moment!
Just kidding. Glad to finally see it rip some tec around the track!
Haha, now if Bad Obsession Motorsport would just get Project Binky running and driving you could fully come out of that cryosleep :P
@@speedacademy This is my free week & then I go back in. I'm super jealous of the Celica though. I've been neglecting my 1UZFE 280Z swap, we'll be working on it more this winter season.
Which motor is better to build, a 3sgte or a 7age ?
I wonder if we will ever see this car again
so bad ass to see that thing on the street, bet you are so stoked lol
The best of the best of the best Sir!!!!!
Never thought I'd see a lucky chops reference in the wild
Mine made 184whp on sachas dyno so that’s right on the money.
Celeeka sounds great
1st gen is so beautiful!! especially pre lift
240 is on the road, Celica is on the road, I'd bet yall are pretty happy right about now :)
Feeling pretty good, for sure!
Hilarious side clips...up until 9:25 it turns into s horror movie 😨😨🤣
Sounds great for a 4 cylinder
What about Honda sound?
@@dah8rsluvme love them or hate then I guess. I have a DC5 Type R with a full 3 inch which I think sounds great
Damn these itb's gives some meat to the sound.. can't wait for 8k RPM.. once is enough I will replay it few times :-)
Great job! Sounds awesome! Looks awesome! Never sell it!
Beautiful Congrats Dp
I can't wait to see its laps times!!
damn... sounds sooo amazing!
I'm sure most of us would agree that you need a lot more caster. I'm only running 3.5* on my Datsun 510 and would like to have more like 5-6*.
Tire side wall seems a bit tall, if you go to a size down, would probably solve all the rubbing issues.
Loving this Dave 😎
Dude, the edit is hilarious !
Damn Connie sounds good!
Do you think adjusting the cam gears could get you better power in the top end. I notice the power delivery is nearly flat. I’m sure advancing the cam could shift the powerband but nonetheless great job and that powerband is going to be a blast around town.
Damn he slammed the door hard..
Awesome!
5:26 - Ordering some pizza while you edit videos huh? Nice.
Also, what's with the "Model Train Shows 2018" bookmark?
Hah, Dave's son loves trains so they go to model train shows on weekends when there's one nearby.
@@speedacademy Thats cool! Dod o'da year right there!
4 views, I think i never been this early.
Connie ripin'tec, yey. Glad for you, sure its rewarding after those cold winter days spent in the garage.
On point edit. So funny!
Congrats!
Love the ghetto earmuff solution at 4:00 😂😂😂👍👍
04:55 Waves may be caused by ITBs choking? these were originally tuned for a 1.6 liter engine after all.
lots of people have run these ITBs on this engine without the waves, it's most likely an exhaust issue.
@@speedacademy thanks for replying! would be cool if you could do a video troubleshooting this 👍
ITB BEAMS induction noise is pure sex. Definitely tough to make the Beams idle well when cold with the ITB's
sounds good!
Shasa welcome back
In the beginning. That yellow s2000 has a euro bumper?
And damn I miss those sauga streets
Itb 3s sounds really awesome but for performance, I'd prefere a gte gen2-3 or v6 for almost the same price
CONNIE!!! next stop K-swop S14
Haha. The windshields on the FJ’s are expensive as hell. I can understand why Ken hasn’t replaced it yet.
Hasn't removing the 5mm spacers in front altered the alignment?
