  • Need more towing and payload than a RAM PowerWagon can offer? More factory off-road capability than a Ford Tremor? Looking for a HD truck with a trick tailgate? You're in luck, as long as you have about $100,000 to drop on a new GMC Sierra. Yep, 100-large is what a top trim AEV Edition Sierra HD will set you back. Ouch. On the other hand, it does have the best interior in the segment and towing tech that'll make hauling your 5th wheel easier.

    Definitely the best truck ever. I just paid 126k incl tax and all for the 2024 at4x aev edition incl diesel plus a few options just a week ago. It was great experience except I drove off the lot and less than an hour later dicsovered all tires had flat spots which made the 300 miles drive home extremely uncomfortable; a week into the owning this magnificent truck, I'm still fighting to have the dealer BUICK GMC of Beaverton OR replace them; they gave me the middle finger and have left me to make a claim to GMC. So sad, such an expensive truck and a lousy dealer.

      Glad you're enjoying your truck. Unfortunately, the dealer system leaves a bad taste in a lot of customers mouths that can put them off a brand forever. -Travis

      What options did you put on?

    • @Pinebaron2011
      @Pinebaron2011 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@RRMIAMI Duratrax, AT4X AEV Edition, Dual Alternators, Cargo Convenience Package, GMC Multipro Tailgate, Cargo Tie-Downs, Tailgate with Kicker Audio system (love that), total options $20,475. How does it then add up to over $126k you may ask; I paid $10k over msrp to get this truck and it all adds up. Not sure if I mentioned this but I subsequently installed a Diamondback HD Tonneau Cover and replaced all 5 tires with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT 305/70 R18 tires, adding another significant chunk of change to the 126k already spent.

    I get it. GMC is definitely targeting well-heeled ranchers and farmers for this truck, and in the American South and West, there is certainly a market. Just as people people justify buying an Escalade over the structurally-similar Tahoe or a G-Wagen over a GLE that has the same interior space and engine, buyers definitely do it in the truck class.
    As for the comparison of the PW vs this AT4X, I believe their missions are different. Ram has long said that the PW is an offroader first, and it shows. F/R lockers, disconnecting sway bar, high ground clearance, and max wheel articulation leave no doubt on their belief, which also limits what it can do in terms of high payload and towing. I do think the AT4X is a better all-arounder, however. But it is damn expensive!

      The question with the Power Wagon, now that this is available, is why put that equipment on a heavy duty if it essentially stops being a heavy duty? -Travis

    • @hellkitty1014
      @hellkitty1014 7 месяцев назад

      @@AAutoBuyersGuide excellent question: From what I was told years ago when the 4th-Gen Power Wagon debuted is that its components such as the sway bar disconnect(which also allows for greater articulation due to the solid front axle) and the HD truck allows for greater ground clearance over what would be supplied with a 1/2 ton. The PW has always been based on a 3/4 ton chassis, so it isn't surprising to me.

      Truck is a beast. great sounding turbo. the updated infotainment is better than my wife's 2023 GLS450 in my opinion. I got the kicker speakers installed yesterday at the dealer which was my only hang up. it was a dealer installed option that was on my build sheet, but the sales reps kept telling me its on back order. (picked up truck at thanksgiving). I finally called the parts department and ordered the part my self. It was here the next day... Also, they finally started making the winch plate for the 2500. It's not the same as the 1500 which is designed for a 9k "come up" brand winch. I was able to mount a 12K warn evo behind the bumper. It's so clean! I got out the door with tax and tags for $115k. winch was another $2,800. I'll be in this truck for a long, long time. Just hit 5k miles with no issues. Except constantly getting compliments on it from strangers. @@danieltmc

      I love the ram also, but I have a fleet of ram 2500's for work and the drive axle came off on 4 out of 16. the bolts vibrated out from the transmission side. so the axel hit the road and jammed up into the cab. Ram told us to be sure to check the rest of them and offered not further assistance. We also replaced 4 engines at 100k miles. They told me the Hemi is not designed to idle for long periods of time. We do road construction so the trucks idle a lot. The pull like a champ though...@@danieltmc

    This or the Ford Tremor for me. This definitely is out for the Power Wagon, a truck I used to own. Much as I love that thing it was just a gutless truck when its time to do truck things. The Ford Tremor has more work and play balanced and at least the way you can order it is almost identical to how the Power Wagon was a few years back with the Tradesman, Power Wagon and Laramie models.

      @@AAutoBuyersGuide I hope it does, the Power Wagon is good at one thing and one thing only and that is being an overpriced off-road vehicle. I personally bought a Tremor as that fits my needs better and who couldn’t resist the 7.3 Godzilla? Both GM twins are as I see it going after the Power Wagon, having a front locker would be nice but with that immense torque and IFS I wouldn’t bet my money on that. Personally, I think both Ford and GM took notes from Ram and agreed they’ll make trucks that can do work and play vs just play like the Power Wagon.

    We all know the old saying, you get what you pay for, and that's definitely true with this truck. I'm not saying that the price isn't outrageous, but when you have vehicles like the 70K+ campagna T-Rex out there, can you really say that this truck isn't worth the sticker price? I hear people complaining about how cheap it was for them to purchase a truck 15 or 20 years ago, but guess what back then there were people complaining about how cheap trucks were 15 or 20 years prior to that. Things have always gotten more expensive over time, and unfortunately some people have always been left behind financially.

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide

      I think you're right on most of this, but a toy like the Campagna isn't often purchased by people with budgets. It's a different product for a different person. -Travis

    Ford f350 tremor high output still king. More comfortable, higher payload, more power, faster, front limited slip.
    The at4x/zr2 has weak front tie rods/cv axles/ hub bearings, no front limited slip, cant get it in 3500hd.
    By the way, the 10 speed in the gm/chevy is actually a ford built and designed with allison badge.

    When will everyone wake up? These very pretty trucks are so limited as to what they're advertising. Shifter blocks the display view, massager is great for hot-shots (not going to buy this truck for that) too large for real off-roaders, plus that beautiful interior is a nightmare to clean. Ranch hands, farmers... No. Ranch Boss, Parking Lot Princess... Yes.

      I think you're just mad you can't afford it. No one is buying one to go rock crawling. They want to tow or haul some heavy shit and have the option to leave the pavement. It doesn't matter if a 2 door jeep is better offroad it matters if the at4x is better than an slt or denali off road. But if you were a business owner you'd know that these things can get written off on taxes to make the cost sting a lot less.
