I’ve been working on a gx120 trying to get it to idle right. Not knowing any better I adjusted the governor in the wrong direction and couldn’t figure out wtf was going on until your video. Thing was idling high as a kite, reving to the moon 😂
Is this on lawn mower by any chance? There should be a tension spring on the governor arm and sometimes they have multiple holes for adjustment. Maybe try another. It could also be a carb problem or a vacuum leak. Have you cleaned or removed the carb at all?
Thanks, your info will be well used, based on my knowledge of the Kohler K-series, occasionally found being worked on with my fledgling RUclips channel, I went counter clock wise and I think that was my issue with the governor on the GX200 I'm working on for a neighbor. Just replaced the carb for her and was getting everything together and noticed the governor was way out of adjustment, so created another issue for myself, hoping your video does the trick.
I would assume that either you need to adjust your governor, the throttle on your carb is stuck or very difficult to move or the internal governor is busted. Try moving the piece of plastic on the carb the throttle linkage connects to and see if it moves easily

Tried adjusting the governor. Can’t go clockwise any further yet machine is still surging. Any suggestions,

@@PNWSmallEngineandLawn yes removed the carb and cleaned thoroughly but did not put in new gaskets as they appeared to be ok.

Is the starter kit the same on the gx190 and gx200? I know there half a horse different, but can't find the kit for the 190.

Gx160 can’t control speed runs very high rpm’s . Governor rod seems to be sticky and doesn’t turn easily??

Correct. It is also important to make sure the carb is at full throttle

My governor stopped working. The engine is running wide-open high speed.
