My favorite part of the episode was the fact that while Riley and Ellie had romantic feelings for each other, they were still best friends. Like you said, Ellie’s queerness is just a part of her; she’s not discovering it she already knows what she is and the feelings she has for Riley and Riley knows her feelings for Ellie, but at the heart of that, they’re still best friends who have these romantic and intimate moments that straight people have when they go out on a first date
This obsession that Americans have for ''minors'' is insane. There's no difference between a 17 and 364 days old and an 18 year old. But one is a minor and one isn't so for some reason one is a ''child'' and the other is an adult. I have problems with the way (especially Americans but it's coming to Europe too) talk about this issue, especially since teenagers have experienced with sex in media for like. The past 50 years???? Kids have been kissing in tv shows for decades like come on
Also... 14 yo can't distinguish between platonic and romantic? Since when? Most of them can. You would never say that about an m/f pairing or about a guy and his guy friends
Another well made video with very balanced and valid points. I like how last of us Episode 7 became one of the best portrayal of young queer girls having a wholesome date and navigating their feelings even if its a extremely short lived one but I think it made it all the more valuable from both a story telling perspective as well as from the characters’ point of view. Keep up with good work with these videos! ❤
As a super fan (no spoilers though) of the TLOU games i can tell you that you will not be disappointed with the queerness of the show going forward (if they stay true to the game). They don't throw away or forget about Ellie's gayness as the story goes forward. She is just gay. That's just how it is. You're also going to be very pleased with the complexity of the human characters that's yet to come. The zombies are the plot, but the story is the people who live in this world and what is going on inside their brains. It's fucking great.

I am dumbfounded. I am a diagnosed autistic who struggles with alexithymia, and I knew the difference when I was at least 11.
