I was at The Bridge School concert Saturday night for Bowie’s performance. He really enjoyed himself as he proclaimed during his set. I’ll never forget the intimate vibe as he played and sang. I don’t know how I came across a recording of that performance but I’m glad I did. A true master who mesmerized his audience and always left them wanting more…sigh…It’s just not the same since Bowie died😢

I was so moved by the performance and I believe it's my favorite live performance of any song. His performance, along with his band, was so moving and touched me to the core. I loved how he attached a bottle cap to his boot for additional percussion.

I've lately come to like the one where he's in the hoodie. Did you see the interview where he said this song was about two lovers that would meet at the Berlin wall under a gun turret.
This is my favorite performance of this song, and there are many great ones to choose from. Gail Ann Dorsey's vocals at the end are perfect with Bowie's.

This performance was a benefit for The Bridge School for special needs children. I have 2 special needs kids, and they can be heroes. I think David and everybody really felt that, during this performance. I saw the original video before it was taken down, and it was beautiful. However, they included several beautiful scenes with these special need kids and their parents enjoying this performance, and I think it was taken down because of that. Understandable, but also unfortunate.
A voice + acoustic guitar + bass + electric solo guitar = total magic. Of course, love to see the live performance, but: the sound quality is much better compared to the video.

One the best (and unique) things about Bowie is that for many of his songs, he re-arranged them over the years. The amazing thing is in most cases I actually preferred the versions by "older Bowie" to the originals. "Loving the Alien" is a perfect example. I wasn't crazy about the original, even though it was fairly popular. But when he re-worked it years later with Gerry Leonard on guitar, I loved it. Same with his "MTV Storytellers" version of China Girl.
His performance of Absolute Beginners during the 2000 BBC concert is transcendent. (At least foe me). He is so obviously happy. And don't even get me going on the high harmonies! 😢 ✌
The best version in my opinion happened in Glasgow 1978 and can be viewed at earls Court London venue absolutely nailed it doesn't get much better please have a look thanks

The video included many shots of the audience, with several of the special needs kids and families enjoying this beautiful moment. Unfortunately and somewhat understandably (the video felt a bit like it was invasive on their privacy), that's probably why it's only audio now. I have 2 special needs kids and this song, Heroes really hits home. This version captures what seemed like a very special moment for David and everyone there.
