    Great review. Instead of mining a single vein, I try to stock my personal cellar with dissimilar yet delicious varietals that express a range of complexity, profile, and price points. I'd love to hear your favorites list of exceptionally complex and unique bourbon and rye outliers. Keep up the great work.

    As a person who's learning on how to identify flavors and aromas, you provided a great explanation on how to interpret spice vs. alcohol burn. Thanks!

    Ryder Cup is USA vs Europe so this release is a cool marriage between the two regions

    I just picked up a bottle today. NC ABC: $100. According to the interwebs, the secondary toasted oak barrel comes from the wine-growing region around Rome, the state of Lazio apparently.

    If it wasn’t for this review, I would have thought that this Ryder Cup release was just a marketing stunt. Cheers

    Being new to the whiskey world for about 2 years now I did not realize that bourbon could be aged in anything other than new charred American Oak. So when you said European Oak was used it threw me for a loop. You learn something new everyday. Cheers!

    • @debcopeland3276
      @debcopeland3276 10 месяцев назад

      The original bourbon aging must be in a new, charred American oak barrel. But then the juice can be put into a different type of (usually) previously used barrel of another spirit or wood or all. This is secondary finishing

    • @debcopeland3276
      @debcopeland3276 10 месяцев назад

      If the initial aging is in another type of wood, it’s not bourbon, but it would still be whiskey.

    You should do a review of the K. Luke Toasted Bourbon batch 1. I was lucky enough to get one from Seelbach’s and cracked it with the manager of a liquor store I have shopped for years (He had never had a K. Luke because we are in the people’s republic of Maryland and miss out on a lot of things). But would love to hear your thoughts it.

    I feel like it would be awesome if you did a list of some of your favorite non Kentucky bourbon profile bourbons. I finally found a bottle of higher proof dettling and also got a bottle of Ben Holladay BiB and am loving this side of craft bourbon. I’d love to hear your take on that scene as you turned me onto dettling. Cheers!

    I was slightly disappointed with the EC B523 especially with the price increase to $70 retail. This one sounds great but I likely won't spend a "hundy" for it. Curious Fred how do you feel about Amburana (Brazilian oak) finishes? Honestly I don't hate the Brazilian oak finish but I definitely don't prefer it over French or American oak. The Penelope Rio was interesting with Amburana and Honey but it's not my jam.

      I believe msrp has been $70 since batch A121. If you've been paying less until now good for you. C920 was the last bottle I got at $60

    I wonder if the barrels were sourced from Italy since the Ryder Cup is in Rome this year.
