Dont always agree with him(his criticism of the Tank300 was way overblown IMO)but yeah, if you really want to move 7 people and you want to be eco friendly about it, this is a far cry from doing that. This is more for people who want to either show off their wealth or virtue signal. Hell a Ford Expedition makes a more honest case for itself than this does, at least Ford doesnt lie to you about the eco friendliness of that land yacht.
Cadogan assumes people will buy it for Eco credentials. I’d buy it because it has best performance bang for buck. He’s chasing clicks by appealing to concerned uncles across ‘straya!!
The only thing i like about this car is the rear boot space with all seats up and the fact all rear seats have isofix tethers, thats a feature you find on luxury 7 seaters mostly. Something that would seem like a no brainer for 7 seaters is reserved for Benz's and BMW's.
They really need to push out an update that allows you to disable the safety annoyance things and keep it off on each restart. Thanks for the review, this car certainly shows EV’s are developing to be capable of meeting just about every need. I wonder when we’ll see Tesla semi’s in Australia?
Thanks Greg! Yep, for those who want or need this kind of EV, it’s a great choice. But it certainly isn’t for everyone. And I haven’t heard anything on Tesla Semi.
A 65% + guarantee on battery after 7 years needs to be considered when buying this car. It's a big depreciation on the resale value and a big decrease in the range.
Thanks mate. The shots at those beautiful houses were done south of Sydney (Gerringong and Bowral) and the shots with me in them were done north of Sydney.
I don't need this size of car, but I agree about the aero wheels - just no. If I had to, I'd go for the base model and use the money saved over the mid-spec to change them to something better. If I can't get a single cab EV ute with a decent length tray in five years, I might go for the EV5, because I like the way these look.
@@mindfreeze0838 That's true, but couldn't you put the EV tyres onto different wheels? I could live with a slight drop in efficiency in order to not cringe every time I looked at the car. In any case, that's a problem for future me, as I would not be looking at this for at least five years and things could have changed by then.
Toyota has been jacking their prices up n up, corolla cross hybrid close to $50k with disgusting cheap plastic interior, rav4 $60k now, my mate finally will get his after literal 18months wait. Depreciation would plummet like a meteor to Earth 🌎.
We’re seeing that with plenty of other EVs…
What a beautiful design. I like the way it looks. Needs to have a Turbo 6 or V8
Ha! Never gonna happen
For all you KIA, well EV fanboys. Take a look at John Cadogan’s take on this behemoth. Yeah really good for the environment.

Hate the side camera mirrors.
Did you find it distracting? It’s all I could look at during the drive portion.
Yeah it is more distracting than in a car with conventional mirrors.
Love how all the Aussie reviewers are chucking that bag on the ground
It's a silly spot for it!

Just shows you these “first-gen” EVs are racing each other to land-fill
If we order it now will we get it delivered sometime before 2028? What are the kia wait times for this?
Hi Matt, thanks for the good review. Its filmed on a very cool location. Where is it ?
Thanks mate. The shots at those beautiful houses were done south of Sydney (Gerringong and Bowral) and the shots with me in them were done north of Sydney.
Remember, its not how big it is, its how you use it.
I had that line in this video but edited it out.

I hope there's a single cab EV ute in five years... but you might need to move somewhere other than Australia to get it.
I suspect you might be right, but I hold out hope of replacing my 2015 Commodore ute with something like it that consumes electrons.
Not sure thats a good idea, these EV's often require special tyres due to the weight which can affect efficiency plus these things are so heavy.

I can see that!
This car weighs around 4% more than a Ford Everest, but stops 9m shorter over 100-0 test. So which category of vehicle has a weight problem??
That’s a silly comparison. The Everest is a ladder-chassis, body on frame 4x4 SUV. This is a very different car.
EV9 is the safest in its class according NCAP
Yeah. Also one of the most annoying cars if you don’t like the safety nannies.
VW ID6 is an affordable alternative too
We don’t get that in our market, and won’t…
Love the car but the cost makes me think that Toyota hybrids are goimg to sell very well- for 50% of the price.
Fair enough!

The painful safety stuff is apparently EU legislation, so coming to all new EVs in the future! Joys
Yep it is. And at this point, the conversation over what is actually helpful in a car needs to be had.
Eco leather! What does it matter when the GT is an unenvironmentally humongous 2650 kg. They need to rethink making these super heavy and large EVs
They won't rethink making them until people rethink buying them...
