No, 7 seater should have 3 independent seats on the 2nd row :/ right now it is actually 6 seater. So for me it is a NO. I will have to wait for Peugeot e-5008

Thanks for the review. This was exactly the car I was waiting for. I ordered one yesterday. Frankly, the KIA badge doesn’t really matter to me. I don’t need a luxury brand car, i just need a practical family car. I just don’t understand the hate some ppl have towards this model. I’m happy there is an EV that fits my exact needs/budget.
Very smart and logical reasoning, I agree! Things are changing and Kia has really been climbing the ladder towards getting a premium brand.
Best review of the EV 9, I have seen. The car design bodes well for the EV 5. Could be a difficult choice between the new model Y, and the EV 5 in the summer 2024. Have a good Christmas.

Just wanted to say I really like your review depth and style. Covering the cabin materials in detail, nice relaxed style. Keep up the good work! As for the beeping I have a car that functions like this and there are so many alert sounds it all becomes rather distracting, which is counter intuitive. Good old EU committees.

It's a shame it doesn't have the same camera surveillance like Tesla's, considering the price range this is at.
I really like the ev9 GT but as you said, EV's are just too expensive
They really should have protected the sides in the trunk with some soft cloth, for that price point it should be included. It will make it look scratched after a while.
They should have added a quicker way to remove the speed limit warning. It will get very tedious doing that everytime.

Hyundai and Kia needs resolve current confusion about battery costs to replace. Ioniq 5 battery in Canada was 45k USD. The car was scrapped due to battery cost.
I think that goes for most brands. Will get lower with time as production costs drop.
Actually, I heard that the six-seater is not registered for driving use when the middle seats are facing backwards. This at least in Finland (and most likely the whole EU region as well), and I have to say that is a bit of a show stopper regarding the long distance road tripping capabilities of the six-seater. Otherwise, a truly nice experience to drive whenever you are not in a tightly spaced and fully packed parking garage. Wonder how is it with the backwards facing middle seats in non-EU countries.
In Sweden I have heard it's not rotatable at all..but haven't tested it myself..

Did you do a final consumption test? Another reviewer did a freeway speed test and it used 49.5 kwh to go 94miles which would give a real range of less than 190miles and = 526wh/mi or 327wh/km which seems very high.

@TB-up4xi the aerodynamics are bad on the EV9 big and flat front punishing it in higher speeds

Would you say the noise insulation is a step above EV6? I was planning to buy an EV6, but if this car is really quieter, an upgrade wouldn't hurt :-)

So, Nio ES8 not worth buying? What..? (Comment to your headline that says this Kia is the FIRST 7-seater worth buying). The Nio is an amazing 7-seater in my opinion. One of the best cars I have tried. The Kia is way overpriced in my view, bulky and plasticy. But the ride may be good, I have not driven it yet, only sat in the Kia.
ES8 is only availible in Norway currently and that is the old version on the old platform. Hopefully we will se the new version on the European market soon.
Not bad if you have battery swap station around, otherwise the charging is just too slow compared to EV9. I like that it has air suspensions and a fridge, Kia really should have integrated a fridge into the center console.
The 6 seater comes with a drawer for the rear passengers in the mid console. Ut not fridge if I got it right, that is sad.
Bro, overpriced is all the other names with way fewer features priced well above 100k. Looking at you Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc 👀

This seems interesting but the range is bad. People with families use these EVs for roadtrips.
But ok range for its size and good charging speed. I'm driving a Model y performance with almost identical ramge, works really good.
How come GT line has 7 seats. In Canada its only 6 seats.
Probably depending on Kia Canada's and what variants they bring. Here in Sweden you can choose.

De går inte att rotera, de är samma som framsätena (med undantag för nackstöden). Grymt sköna.

You are forgetting the Hongqi E-HS9 It is even more affordable. More comfort, luxury and performance at 550 hp and bigger. But lower charge speed on the fast charging.
For example you can get the E-HS9 premium version for 699 k kr. Or the exclusive for 799 k kr so it costs less than the EV 9 almost 200k less. In the exclusive you get air suspension.
Would be fun if you could compare them in a review.
Yes, I forget about Hongqi. Hongqi is cool but would be a safer bet to go for the similarly prices EV9. Prefer the looks of the EV9. But need to test the Hongqi

@@ItsOnlyElectric Yes but havn't test driven the EV9 only sat in it. EHS-9 is 5.2m long so it makes it a bit more hassle with tight spots.

Haha not when you state it that way. But we need to compare it with cars in the same segment. Not the same buyers, different car class and not electric. But o get your point and agree: Almost all cars since the introduction of corona have skyrocketed in price.🤔😔
Shame the ipedal mode is something that should be remembered between driving sessions. Unfortunately KIA is giving some lame excuse why it isnt.
The beeps and bongs are unbearable. Badly implemented systems that make driving less safe. We should all be very critical on these ao that KIA wakes up.

Fully agree on the one-pedal driving. After my LEAF there is no way I can go to a non one-pedal drive car. Already told my Nissan dealer I won't be upgrading to an Ariya because they broke one pedal driving. It is also astounding to see how many reviewers think one pedal driving is just full regen and stop, while it is so much more. Nice to see a reviewer who gets it and is not stuck in ICE mode.
Personally, exactly as you, I will never buy a car without it. It's one of the core concepts driving electric.
