That was a unexpected reaction to the Grand Seiko. It’s movement is so precise that it keeps better time than all the other brands. I don’t own a Grand Seiko and I’m a Rolex fan. I own a Datejust and I absolutely love it to death, simple, classy and elegant all in one. But Grand Seiko would rank 2nd in my watch tier list because design wise it’s rather simple which fits my style but that movement is out of this world.

Grand Seiko is a respected brand. They invented the spring mechanism, they invented Quartz too. I don't own any of it, infact I don't own any expensive watch. But I am a watch lover and I respect Grand Seiko for establishing themselves in this Swiss dominated industry.
tbh idk what is this guy s problem, only the history alone would make any grand seiko worth it, but the level they fabricate these and the finish on them really makes them amazing. I own a seiko but my dream is to own a grand seiko someday

I think GS ownership is overrepresented among technology nerds. Well, and among the Japanese.

You've officially inspired me to start a watch collection. I don't have the money to get anything expensive but I've been keeping my eye out for watches I really like.
if you want a cheap spec monster look into Orient, if you want a cheap watch everyone will recognize look at a Seiko 5, if you want a watch you don't care if you destroy look at a Casio G-Shock. Or save your money and buy a nicer watch... sad part is the most I've spent on a watch was $1195 for a Movado (huge mistake but it got me into watches) (now worth max $300-$500), my vintage 1954 Mido 14kt Gold plated watch $350 (now worth $400-$600), my 2 Seiko 5's $265 each, my Oris 623 7582 $150 (worth $1000=$1200), and my vintage 1972 Longines paid $3 for it (similar are listed for $750-$1200 online) and this isn't all i own but just to show you that if you're thrifty and look for bargains (both online, at yard sales/flea markets, or at thrift stores) you can get some great time pieces for an amazing deal, but just be informed and try not to buy a fake
that's the spirit; this hobby shouldn't require millions of dollars. there are countless of desirable pieces under $1000. wish you best with your journey.
My first automatic time piece is a Hamilton Khaki King day-date, it was a little over $500 and it’s a great starter watch, Hamilton and Seiko imo are great if you’re looking for an automatic watch under $1000
Get watches you like to wear. My less expensive ones I always get more compliments on. There are some good Japanese ones like zeero time that cost a fraction of a RM or custom gshocks are one of my favorites. Can never go wrong with Casio S tier watch
Other recs Seiko (there a custom ones too that will make it look like a Rolex) and if you have more money a Tudor which is basically a Rolex

I absolutely loved the video and jokes. Actually I'm a huge fan of the Grand Seiko Spring Drive movement and Seiko. I don't have the money to buy a Grand Seiko, but I have a couple of Seiko that my father wore in his thirties, I absolutely love them, and I'm gonna get one serviced and fixed, I'm picking it up this Friday. And I'll proudly wear it.

I did a deep dive into this, and sampled comments sections from popular videos of RUclipsrs who mention the angry Omega enthusiast. I found that Rolex fans are much more likely to be aggressive, condescending, and attack individuals rather than arguments. Maybe it is because they’ve gotten some heat lately that they are more docile, but Omega fans are more likely to politely defend their stance, and less likely to use insults.
Lots of Rolex owners are pretentious dicks, but Omega owners love to act like they’re better when in all honesty, they’d flush their seamaster down the toilet if it means they can get a submariner.

I own a Grand Seiko and can confirm that I love anime and I love to discuss with fellow watch collectors on why Grand Seiko is a better deal than a lot of Swiss watch brands. I feel like I have been found out.

A Grand Seiko (spring drive or quartz) is definitely a better deal than any of mechanical watches in the world. Period.
But from a practical pov, it still pales in comparison with many of Casios, G-shocks, or even Citizens.

Grand Seiko owner here. I love them, you can't understand them through a screen. They're only understood in person. They are just elegant and perfectly put together and their quality and value is only noticeable in person

Get a G-Shock. You won‘t be disappointed!
This Casio has a cool retro look about, I bought one recently you really can't go wrong with a Casio, these are the best watches in the world, and I'll tell you why.
1) Very affordable for everyone.
2) Doesn't need an expensive service, other than a battery change, which is under £5
3) Stop watch function, you can wear it at the gym, use it for other sports or anything else.
4) Countdown Timer, perfect if you want to time tasks, household tasks etc.
5) You can swim with most casios, or splash water on it no problem.
6) Some have 1 or 5 daily alarm reminders, and hourly beeps.
7) Back light, you can see the date and time in total darkness.
8) If you drop it, you won't worry about damage, even if it does, it won't cost an arm and a leg to replace.
9) Some have World time function, perfect travel watch, and some have 48 time zones.
10) You'll never worry about getting robbed of your Casio watch, wherever you are in the wold.
Unlike Rolex, Patek, Tudor, Cartier, Breitling etc, you get the picture.
With the Swiss brands, you'll always worry about dropping them and ruining the movement, or getting robbed by someone, both in the UK or abroad. Pickpockets and muggers, are familiar with these watches and often target people with these on - if you're unlucky to get mugged, that's a lot of money gone in one go. It could be sentimental to you, and will really hurt when it's gone - don't risk your life or your personal asset. People don't need to know how rich you are, don't be a show off and attract attention, think of yourself, family and loved ones - some people get killed, just over a Swiss watch.
Personally, I have 1 Rolex, 1 Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, 1 Tag Heuer, but I absolutely love my Casio G Shock as a daily beater watch. My casio's got everything I've described above, it's Multiband 6, meaning it gets radio signals from the Atomic Clock, so is always accurate to the second, solar power which charges under any light, so you never need to change the battery.
I'm getting all this from something under £100.00, (Casio G Shock GW-M5610-1ER), something a £10K Rolex or £300K Patek Philipe will never be able to compete with - just let that sink in for a minute, not forgetting Casio retro digitals and modern ones have a cool factor about them too. I guess you just need to go and buy one, to appreciate how practical they are.

The first collectible watch I bought was a Tag Monaco. I still love it and it’s damn near 20 years old. It’s not an everyday watch but I always get compliments on it.
I regret my comment on another video by Nico. I have an extreme opinion about anyone under the age of 40 that wears a watch. I think it says everything you need to know about a person. I have nothing but respect for a good collection. Collecting watches is whole other thing. I think Nico is great at what he is doing.
