I'm old enough to be your dad, but I was younger than you are when I fell in love with S10s. It's cool to me to see your generation appreciating older stuff. I love your enthusiasm about the features of this truck, and laughed out loud at your Whole Foods comment! 😂 Thank Colin for me for letting you review his truck!!
i love how down to earth the review was. I can respect the fact that you arent some power junkie saying "oh well it needs a v8. it needs moar power, it needs to drive faster" you were just like. yeah. its a truck. it paid a debt to society, now its a cruiser. 2.8? it sounds nice. like ive never heard such an honest take on one of these old trucks.
As an everyday s10 driver, they're a,aging small trucks that last forever, mines a 1986 with 103,000 and the motor was swapped at 65,000 according to previous owner, they're easy to fix and maintain, but I love the feel when it drives, and how relaxed you can be when driving
My first vehicle. When I was 16 I drove it over a flooded road. Water was deep enough, I could hear the fan blades splashing the water. Powered through it in first gear with the pedal to the floor. It was also rolled over, the cab was out of shape after that. The back window became what we called "convertible".
The first new vehicle I ever bought. I fell in love with it , it was a 1988 Tahoe 2wd I drove it for 12 years and got hit by other drivers 14 times. Yes 14 times lol. Each time I got her fixed and she kept on rolling. I decided to upgrade to a full size GMC Sierra 4wd that I still own. I’m now looking for a S10 to restore.
This was my first vehicle and learned how to drive in the dead of winter. Pops thought if I could learn to drive a manual in the winter I could drive in anything and he wasn't wrong. I loved this truck so much and I wish I could find another for my son to learn on.
Ever since being 17 in highschool with a 91 Chevy S10 as my first car, I'm known now for that lil white S10 because I managed to stuff 10 people in the truck to go to McDonald's for lunch. It was an extended cab. It finally died after a very long time. I now have an 89 and a 92. With digital cluster swap and all black/charcoal grey interior. Both are getting ready for paint. I'm 21 now but I sure love these little trucks , easy to work on too! Great beginner car and easy to mod , just expensive.
I had 4 S10. One with a 2.5 with a T5 transmission. Drove it and rebuilt it a couple times. Retired it at 635 thousand kilometers . I had another one with a 2.8 auto trans. And 2 more with V8's. One with an IROC 305, the other with a TBI 400 ci motor. Currently looking for one to put in my Roller cam, factory 4bbl 4.3 out of an 86 Astro van. Up in Canada. 1st gen S10's that are rust free are hard to come by.
I missed this one six years ago along with the SVT review. I had one of these (with the four speed auto) at the same time as my mom had the Contour. I had a love/hate relationship with the thing. No ABS ruined it in the end, but it was my first car.
I have a 92 S-10 x cab with a 2.8 and 5 spd It has underdrive pullies , electic fan , roller tip rocker arms and a K&N air filter and filtered lid on it it spins 235/55/18 all the way through first gear with over 217,000 miles I love that truck and if the 2.8 ever dies I have a 99 vortec waiting to go in
Super job man. Loved all the comments. I have a lowered 93 2.8 5 speed with 240k. Body Super straight, no scratches or dents. Still original 14s. It is an extra cab, or bonus cab...not sure the correct name? Still in the project stage. My dream is to build a smoking little 302 for high end. Was thinking maybe a 383 striker...but the low to mid torque might be too much for the original drive train. Thanks again for makin it real!!!
I've got a 91' 2.8 Extended cab 5spd I replaced the exhaust and deleted the cat. It has a nice rumble to it now. I get asked all the time what kind of engine it has. 🤔 Bottom line I love the first Gen S10's.
Amazing review very true blue. Im buying a mini pick up today & its between the ranger or this honestly i will eventually own both in my opinion best minis ever created. ESPECIALLY THAT DASH CLUSTER BEST IN A CAR/TRUCK EVER
I have a 92 chevy s10 2.8 5speed has 337 miles on it lol flowmaster exhaust runs like a champ I love it these trucks are awesome I have a 1985 chevy s10 I'm planning in taking the engine and trans out of the 92 and drop it into the 85 s10 soon getting the engine bay and everything set up for it to go in but I'm not using the 5speed I'm keeping it automatic
My son (13) is rebuilding his grandfather's 1988 s10. We are looking for a new dash, which is proving to be difficult... anyone recommend a place to get replacement interior for this truck? Thanks!!
i like this thing, but that 2.8L sounds like a shrunken grain truck engine with the attitude of a grandma that just caught you sneaking out of church. Not a terrible sound but I can't get the grain-truck thought out of my head, lmao
“Emission standards weren’t crippling engines”? You’re kidding right? Early 80s was the worst for emission controls. That and the switch to unleaded fuel killed horsepower. The early 80s sucked for any kind of performance. Even corvettes only had like 200hp on a good day. That S10 v6 only has about 125hp and its a late 80s! Trust me I was there. Not hating just pointing it out. Great review though, really. I always liked the 1st gen S10. I bought one brand new in 1987! Subscribed!

That intro is the most relatable thing I've ever seen
Really enjoyed your review of the 88 S -10, I own the 4.3 automatic single cab. I've owned it for several years and I love this truck.
This was my first vehicle and learned how to drive in the dead of winter. Pops thought if I could learn to drive a manual in the winter I could drive in anything and he wasn't wrong. I loved this truck so much and I wish I could find another for my son to learn on.
I had an ‘86 S10 as a first truck. It was a good truck. I had to basically rebuild it from the ground up at 125,000 miles because it had a rough life.
This makes me miss my old Sonoma. The dashes in those old S-series trucks are great

Nice my grandfather gave me an 89 s10 that was his farm truck which now is running great at 278,000 miles
The square body S10's are starting to become hard to find. Good ones anyways.
Agreed, they are. Love this S10! (Looks a lot like the D15 D-Series from Beamng.Drive)
"Your not gonna double park it at whole foods" cracked me up
Thanks for the input. I am planning on buying one just to tool around in. I feel like I know more about what to expect. Thanks!

When I first saw you. I had second thoughts about even watching the video but Zach you fucking killed this review. GREAT JOB
I have a 92 S-10 x cab with a 2.8 and 5 spd It has underdrive pullies , electic fan , roller tip rocker arms and a K&N air filter and filtered lid on it it spins 235/55/18 all the way through first gear with over 217,000 miles I love that truck and if the 2.8 ever dies I have a 99 vortec waiting to go in

if you appreciated those guages you'll love the digital guages
I agree, digital gauges on these trucks are cool, they're even cooler on the flat dash s-10s
3:28 I used to work not far from over there! heya to Napersvilles!
My fav s10 gen ! Always wanted one

Awesome video dude! I love s10s!! Own 5 squares currently.
I have a 91 2.8l longbed retro build. Check it out on my Instagram @luckywerx
you got me at the close up mumbling of "america hmgjf red white blue bluhg"🤣🤣
The door shutting was so damn accurate.
That shelf is so cool man... why don't modern cars have that!
foreal x)
I absolutely enjoyed your review. Your awesome man. Thank you
Amazing review very true blue. Im buying a mini pick up today & its between the ranger or this honestly i will eventually own both in my opinion best minis ever created. ESPECIALLY THAT DASH CLUSTER BEST IN A CAR/TRUCK EVER
Iv had 3 of the 2.8 in different vehicles and can't complain about none of them
A s10 grille would make that thing look 10 times better
Beautiful how it is..unique
@@tee.tapia380 I agree, I like the uniqueness of that grill.
Do you know the drop specs??
enjoyed the review of the S-10, I own one and I love it....
Love this truck
Yep ! , go Chevy . I have the GMC S-15 truck (at work now) and the S.U.V. Jimmy version. I also owned a 1986 S-10 truck.
3:18 I agree whole heartedly
As usual, great review Zach!

Is your oil pressure guage not working like mine?
Saw a posting of this truck for $2200, thinking of getting it when I start working. Worth or should haggle after inspecting?
Love this review
Will you review a s15 Jimmy
Why does it have a Oldsmobile badge in the front
My son (13) is rebuilding his grandfather's 1988 s10. We are looking for a new dash, which is proving to be difficult... anyone recommend a place to get replacement interior for this truck? Thanks!!
Great job dude
How did you get it that low. I just picked up a 1988 gmc s15 and want it that low
search google: 1st gen s10/ s15 lowering kits
sounds like my doors when i close them
That sticker on the dash xD
I bought an 83 s10 and it's over 400,000 miles and I got it for 600 bucks from a farmer
what is the front GRILLE model ?
Oldsmobile Bravada
Someone needs to do a Hilux vs S10 comparison something or other type video...
What is that front headlight grill?
It's an Oldsmobile bravada grille. So clean
I am getting my aunts 93 2.8 4spd
My friend in high school had a 5spd 2.8 n men it was fast for what it was
they were available with 4.3 v6 or 4 cylinder
And a 2.8L v6.
i like this thing, but that 2.8L sounds like a shrunken grain truck engine with the attitude of a grandma that just caught you sneaking out of church.
Not a terrible sound but I can't get the grain-truck thought out of my head, lmao
Why does it have Oldsmobile logo?
The Oldsmobile Bravada had an interchangeable front clip.
That's 32,852.0 miles

I didn't know Oldsmobile made pickup trucks but pickup trucks with manual transmissions🤮😖☹️
2.8l is also a camaro engine. they can handle some serious abuse.
LS swapped rx7s trigger me
The 4.3s are the better s10s
never seen an American drive a manual, interesting..
You don't think there are manuals in the U.S.?
Bought these wheels off of him lol
What kind are they?
2.5
Put a v8 in it
Lauren Siemens thats what I'm trying to do with my 350 v8
2.8 sucks ass. ls swap it
What’s the difference between the 2.8 and 4.3? There are some big fundamental differences right? It’s not just less displacement.
