Sometimes the nicest thing to see is a super clean old stock truck. No one keeps these well kept S10s stock anymore. Maybe re-paint it either same colour or different, repaint "Chevrolet" white and reupholster the interior make it look clean and new but factory. Its you're truck of course, either way would be sick as hell
Here's the thing: Keeping it stock will be extremely cheap to keep on the road. Parts cost 75% less than used too. As for the leaky engine, they leaked when new. Just poorly designed seals and surfaces. Oil is cheap, so if it isn't leaving puddles, leave it. Put some engine stop leak in it. It works on them. Just use it as a truck. Parts for it are dirt cheap, 75% less now than 20 years ago.
PSA do not put fucking stop leak in your crank case. My S10 is at 208,000 miles and has been leak free for years. They didn’t leak when new that’s ridiculous. Fix the leaks properly and it’ll stay that way for years to come.
I love how it looks now - so I'd go for something fun/cool with the transmission, maybe an engine swap, but definitely keeping the overall looks. A few well chosen modifications are honestly way better than a bunch of them, on a truck like that.
I got a 89 gmc sierra classic s15 2wd with a 4.3 electric window, lock, cruise control ac and heat and most importantly digital gauges and I love it wouldn’t trade it for anything
Yo! I have a '91 S10 RWD with a 2.5L, 4 banger "Iron Duke" that is total garbage... complete with vacuum leaks, exhaust header cracks, an awesome rad leak, electrical and dash are 100% trash, and the exhaust completely fell off on the street on my way to work one day. I went to sand the rear wheel wells on the bed to prep for more proper paint and discovered like a 1/4" thick of bondo and rusted through a previous re-welded patch job, enough bondo to cover a round top screw underneath that appeared to be flush before I started (somebody hid that really well, props to them haha). So, I've been thinking of what to do with mine - and I think I want to swap it with an LQ9 (LS3 2nd gen. I think), keep it RWD, put it on coilovers, wide body, fuel cell, and make it a "drift truck" build. Not sure if that's the best idea considering the front/rear weight ratio is like 70/30 to the front... but people have done it, and maybe to help with the weight in the back - build a rack to secure street wheels/tires in the bed over the rear axle. Minty oldschool stock trucks are nice too though, but... it'd be super cool to watch that series if you went that direction. Drift truck be tight, been watching @gingium (think that's how you spell it) Mazda B2200 drift truck build, and it's pretty dope. Love from Cincinnati OH! #staycommitted
I myself have a 1987 Chevy S-10 5 speed manual transmission, 4X4, V6, the current problem im having with it, is that it keeps leaking DOT3 thr the clutch fluid canister, and can't find where its leaking from people have told me its leaking through the transmission seal (where it bolts to engine) but my truck is so dirty and coated in old oil its kinda hard to find exactly where its leaking from...
Ha I got that paint job on my roof but the rest of my body is all different, I love my s10 I gotta 93 last year of the square body's absolute beautiful machine so easy to work on too mine still has a ways to go but these videos have been helpful in keeping me motivated
You could keep it stock. Or make it a stroked 3.1 liter with Holley carb. but do whatever because I have an 84' S10 truck. Single cab. So, I wanna see something done to it that crazy depending on what route you decide to go. But Ive been looking for ideas on what to do to my truck so. Ill sub and see what happens
I think I would keep it stock, but hey it's your truck you do what makes you happy.. That may be the best $200 you will ever spend in your life! I was wondering how much you have spent fixing it up?
Bring this truck to B.C. !!! I know you have a lot going on already but it would be a dope build. I personally think you should clean it up real good and keep it stock considering the mileage but even a crazy build would be cool!
I have one with the 4.3 and a 5 speed and it's a damn near impressive ride with just a custom exhaust yeah we don't need a cat here in FLA a free flowing muffler and it's 2.5 inch all the way to the back it woke up for real when I took the cat off added the exhaust and a cold air intake I know those intakes don't do much of anything but I like it what they did was use the same gear ratio as the the nv 1500 2.2 liter 4 cyl engine in the v6 they used the nv 3500 trans and the same gear ratio in the rear as the 4cyl as I said with the gobs of torque that the 4.3 makes over the 2.2 not to mention the added horsepower like I said I've smoked some mustangs and Camaros and other such things a dude with a 4.6 crown vic he thought was fast he was a whole car length back all thru the gears I'm winding out 3rd at 85 and hitting 4th and she's climbing quick trust me find one and drive it and get on it y'all will be well impressed I think for a small truck other than doing a v8 swap of course and I've seen where guys supercharge or turbo them and get big gains I can hardly keep back tires on this one let it roll back a little bit turn the wheel so it takes the weight off that rear pass tire yeah one wheel peel but put it in second and rev and dump that clutch you'll have to keep it off the rev limiter by foot but that tire in second gear is whipping at like 50 and it runs out a long ways making a long mark and a lotta smoke I just put some slapper bars to stop axle wrap and it's fun as shit
The radio should be easy to wire up, ignition, constant 12v, ground, mabye illumination and speaker power and ground wires. You can get adapter plugs online
I usually run all my own to ensure good speaker wires etc all proper polarity and good power for the deck and amp is my way and I always get the best sound that way over the stock wiring
I personally like it clean and functional. I also have a truck (98 Tacoma) and a BRZ, and I think it's great. The BRZ does DD, road trips, clean errands, on-asphalt fun, the truck does weather, camping, mtb, 'dirty' errands, off-road fun. Is the S-10 four wheel drive?
Maybe that could be the project. I know a RWD to 4WD conversion on those trucks is actually pretty hard, but that plus a small lift and some good tires, and you've got yourself a good winter DD
Hey man I got a 89 s10 and whennit switches to second gear it jerks, also when I turn it on (not all the time) it blows out white smoke from its exhaust pipe, any help plz?
im pretty sure most people prefer a bone stock vehicle...when i go buying used i will NEVER touch anything lifted or modified suspension or drivetrain parts.
Keep it stock n original just fix up nice as In keep it stock for the most part but add a lil flare like Cragar SS wheels or KeyStones with a set of Cooper wide track tires dual exhaust give it a fresh two tone paint job..ect,ect..add like a cab visor w/ lights things of that nature keep truckin n haulin azz bro....
Why TBI ?? I've seen a few with an old school cam and carb with an hei setup and it was cheap easy and it screamed believe it with the cam valve springs and even a q jet that little bastard ran hard I'm serious and he didn't have a lot of money in it either with the TBI you gotta tune it and bigger injectors and all with a hei and a carb a curve kit in the hei to bring advance in when you want it and the beauty of the old q jet is they only feed as much as the engine can handle according to engine vacuum that's all the secondaries will open and feed the right amount of fuel to it .. believe me or don't call me old school well I am old but fuel injection is awesome don't get me wrong but for cheap easy builds no O2 sensors or map maf TPS sensors none of it a good hot hei with good components and a good super coil I bet it will keep up no out run a TBI truck built the same way ..
Tbi was fuel injection at its infancy and is really nothing more than an over complicated carburator it squirts fuel and air down the intake in basically the same manner all they did was add a computer and sensors to aid in fuel economy so they say leaning it out in closed loop which idk I've had some pretty big gas hogs that were tbi and had some carbs that yeilded 20 mpg so I only see over complication in my book but as I said I'm old hence being old school .
just for shits & giggles, throw in a v12 Corvette engine and supercharge it haha now obviously that would have to be crazy barn finds on craigslist or ebay or around at a cheap dealership selling used, but it would be so insane maybe something like this: ruclips.net/video/7sTVwrOjMn4/видео.html
Too late to the party and I'm old school so I say stock, always. Not a fan of mods ever, just not my thing. Especially with hard to find models, leave them alone. Fuck up your BRZ and leave the old school S10 alone.
How to lower the resale value of your vehicle by 90%? Lower it. Lowered vehicles are utter garbage. I've seen far too many S10s ruined by people who lowered the things. Every time I see an S10 that has been lowered I say "Poor S10. The asshole took the balls from ya." But I love my stock 03 S10. Really, we haven't done a whole lot with her. Replaced the trans with a brand new one. New catalytic converter. And a new radiator. She is all good now. Next in the agenda is the paint. I'd go in the opposite direction. Raise that baby up.
Back when he had no idea that he would end up where he is now. Amazing.
N0s Garage does he still have it?
@@paulasplund9037 yes he does
I love the look so I probably would keep it stock.
Static drop, a nice set of wheels, DONE! Great little truck. I’ve kept a square body S10 around here to drive for the past 15 years. Love ‘em.
just cruising through Bradford with no idea you'd be in BC and making car content seriously. Mad respect.
I've always hated that gauge cluster. My aunt and uncle had one of these with the rare Isuzu diesel.
That's the base of the base level cluster. No coolant gauge. The Upscale cluster had everything but the tach, and the deluxe cluster came with a tach.
bullet proof s10's with isuzu diesels are extremely rare
My 1988 Chevy S10 Sport has 48k miles on it, runs like a top
Sometimes the nicest thing to see is a super clean old stock truck. No one keeps these well kept S10s stock anymore. I got my 86 s15 4x4 for $200, but it has 200k miles. Got it running today. So excited
Here's the thing: Keeping it stock will be extremely cheap to keep on the road. Parts cost 75% less than used too.

Do you still have the truck Robbie?
You are super lucky, I'd definitely leave it stock.

We are in similar boats. 😂 My 1988 2.5L S10 has been very great to me asides from having 90hp but I'm also doing a 2nd Gen LS3 swap with t56 six-speed
Should re-upholster the bench seat. Only after you choose a color for the outside though so it matches. Shout out from Nova Scotia!
+Nick Dollimount yeah definitely ! Thanks buddy !

I was watching the video and then i realized it was Robbie, wow what a change!
where can i get a tonneau cover for my S10?...
Amazon i bought one for my s10

Got a 92 4.3 single extended bed. My first vehicle and I love it. Planning to drop a 350 in it and make repairs to the body and interior.
Do you know what rear speaker panels are call
I think I would keep it stock, but hey it's your truck you do what makes you happy.. That may be the best $200 you will ever spend in your life! I was wondering how much you have spent fixing it up?
Yo robbie... 1:30 you voiced your plan. 3+ years later its happening. Awesome you stayed committed!! Congrats man.
I have an all stock 1990 chevy s10 and I'm just needing the seat and the dash cx my whole dash is wrecked
LMC truck on line sells soft and hard dash covers. You can get a catalog free every few months once you place orders.
Bring this truck to B.C. !!! I know you have a lot going on already but it would be a dope build. I personally think you should clean it up real good and keep it stock considering the mileage but even a crazy build would be cool!
I’m from grimsby Ontario and I feel like I’ve seen this truck around the Niagara area... where are you from?
If it's got a 4.3, throw vortec heads on it and a good cam. You get the MPG but some power
It's a 2.8 v6 not a 4.3
I just bought a 82 s10

+Alejandro Preciado that is actually not a bad idea !
Aye a fellow Ontario guy 🤘🏼
I just picked up a 1986 S-10 with 64k miles
What year is it
Hey man I got a 89 s10 and whennit switches to second gear it jerks, also when I turn it on (not all the time) it blows out white smoke from its exhaust pipe, any help plz?
Mr.&Mrs. Perez if it’s carbureted you just need to adjust it that should fix the burning rich problem it helped on mine
If the trans has a vacuum operated modulator on it change it it's worn and leaking fluid up into the engine under wot runs
I plan on doing this with an 88 i have my eyes on. i have never owned a vehicle before.
Keep it stock, maybe lower it a little. One of the cleanest examples left in canada
Huntsville alabama??
2 years later and got another one and is now building it
I have the same exact truck
Same color and everything
im pretty sure most people prefer a bone stock vehicle...when i go buying used i will NEVER touch anything lifted or modified suspension or drivetrain parts.

Very nice
A 1J or 2J build would be absolutely unreal...
Your in Ontario they are so hard to find now cause of all the salt they put on the road
Only engine swap I'd do in that is the 4.3 vortec TBI

I wish you did a 2JZ swap
I was looking at Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Ranger, or S-10.
I have the exact same truck and I’m trying to fix it oem I would love to see your videos on restoring it
Make it a bad ass s10
Put an ls in it
Numbers matching means nothing on a 1st S10. Pull the engine
Just bought an s10
Any recommendations for mods
Depends on what your trying to do performance or lift it or lower it
What motor ?
I’m from Ontario and I was wondering if you were willing to sell it looking for a truck i this body style
You from alabama I'm a new sub
Just drop a 350 in it
I have a 2.8l s10 Tahoe. They are slowwwwww - Swap it. If my body wasn't so rusty I'd swap
@2:05 you could of been in an accident
2jz on air bag suspension
Put a k24 in it
I have a 85
Ouch! How much is your time worth?...sounds like you put in a LOT of work into a truck that was supposedly "new"...
Do a slamed Cummins build
K24 turbo
Do an RB swap, it'd be amazing
2J S10?
+DRFTR86 wouldn't that be sick !
Fuck yeah with a turbo or spray it would be sick af
The dude smoked out his gf with a burn out ROFL!
1JZ baja but not as hardcore or a 2JZ drag truck,
+Patrick Jaquemet 😏😏😏
Robbie Ferreira that's whatd id do 😋 kinda like a sleeper truck
just for shits & giggles, throw in a v12 Corvette engine and supercharge it haha
now obviously that would have to be crazy barn finds on craigslist or ebay or around at a cheap dealership selling used, but it would be so insane
maybe something like this: ruclips.net/video/7sTVwrOjMn4/видео.html

Yooo

keep it stock :)
