They make it so cars don't make any intake or blow-off noise because especially here in the states people will take their car back to the dealership over any noise the car makes even if it's supposed to make the noise
In the beginning when you put the intake on, the air still recirculates and kinda sounds like a centrifugal supercharger. That’s something I love about prochargers and stuff is that off throttle at high rpm, air just constantly whooshes out. Super dope
I was messing around with my 2.0 TDI and found that if I pinch off the BOV hose I get crazy turbo flutter. Then I tried driving with it like that, and got put into limp mode haha
Hey bro I've been watching your channel for a little over a month now I really love your style in the content you put out I'm surprised I didn't find you any I hate the RUclips algorithm because it takes too long before you find a good channels like yours keep up the great work bro you're awesome
Going from e90 n54 twin small turbo to an f30 n55 big turbo and now hearing the turbo uff i agree 100% turbo sound not good for fuel economy 🤣🤣 love hearing mine spool up!!
its also not good for the health of your turbo, I have an n54 and I would love to hear stutututu all the time but i am NOT trying to replace my turbos any sooner than needed lol
The block off plate with no bov is causing pure turbo surge (nowhere for the pressure to go except load the surge line and escape through the compressor) Engine can handle the couple more psi more then the turbo seals/thrust bearing can handle the aggressive pressure escapes/increased temps. Cool thing to try, but wouldn't recommend sticking with.
I've finally caught up again after not watching since the haitus. Glad to see you're back uploading and you seem just as happy. Really excited to see you uploading more and see the journey that you take these cars on and whatever other cars are to come in the future!
so the OG 5 clyinder quattro cars have a reserc valve that redirects the air directly into the turbo inlet. its also very large, so from the factory they make a beautifully violent "PSSSHHHH", and if you pull the vaccum line to it and plug it with a bolt of the ignition cover it makes group B "stututututututu" sounds
The normal bypass valve with an upgraded air filter has the Best sound while not destroying the turbo and engine and giving a lil bit more power. The blow off valve is More expensive and doesn't help the Turbo spooling up faster. And the plate is just killing and engine.
Hey, Robbie I just started watching you, like literally this is the first video I've watched, but I'm really enjoying your content and about to go down a rabbit hole in your Genesis content. Keep up the good work. Much love. -Bryton
Good content man, good fun and practical education with experimenting.. however id like to state this fact as i see too many 'car guys' say this like they know what theyre talking about exactly. Turbo surge, flutter, stututu, is NOT damaging to your turbo, at low boost levels. Low is generally anything under 1.5 Bar pressure - 21psi, with variance dependent on your engine and turbo size. Furthermore the only time it becomes damaging is when youre running high boost pressures, which in hand will also present the likely case that the high pressure air in the intake can force back through into the engine as well by lifting an intake valve when it should be closed: This is what causes damage - piston colliding with the valve, over revving and lean mixture due to air coming into the chamber when throttle is closed. The only reason i preach this knowledge is because this makes the difference between how sure and confident someone is on their modifications or current state of their car.
On mine I didn't need to put a plate. I just got two rubber chair leg fittings and clamped them on the fittings that suck and blow and got the same sound you get at 10:08
I was told, the reason the put re-Direct valve.. I think it is.. is just what you said.. It aids the acceleration.. but it sounds much better to release into the atmosphere.. I have a 2016 Veloster Turbo, and the hose for re-circulation valve is blocked off.. so it vents out.
I run a super tight recirc valve on my Subaru. Also have a nice, fat, aluminum turbo inlet. I get a nice BOV sound on full boost, but get some sweet compressor surge noises otherwise.
Always recirc. Different manufacturers and spring rates change the noise enough to find something that you like. Never failed me yet. This was a good watch
Use whatever is required. If the car uses a airflow sensor you have to recirc or it'll die on hard braking due to flooding the engine. It will also run rich in general even if it doesn't die.
I've always loved sleeper cars. Too many people just make everything about how their car sounds but everything is stock besides the exhaust. I love seeing some obscure, stock looking car roll up and just outdrag everything around.
I used to have a ford 2013 ecoboost escape SE. I threw a K&N cone filter on it and suddenly it made all the turbo sounds. people sleep on their intakes.
not all boosted cars can run bov´s. my cffb 2.0tdi got some weird german shit called a ''vgt lader'' variable geometry turbocharger and boost is not controlled by a combination of wastgate and rcv/bov but by fins that change their angle of attack, controlling how much/fast exhaustgasses hit the turbine. completely closed means no gasses flow over the turbine meaning you dont get any boost, basically acting like a fully opened wastegate. (at least i think so)
The guy that says that’s a beautiful filter than the other guy says shut up! Lol that gets me every time. It’s so funny you guys are funny I followed you.😅
My E46 would “pshhhhh” because of my intake setup and everyone would ask me if it was a turbo and get all excited and then disappointed when I told them it’s bone stock lmfao
I had a 08 cvt 3.5 altima coupe. straight piped. Added a 3.5" can. Around 2k I hear shhhhhhh. As the speed climbed the pitch would go up, but since its cvt didn't "shift," the "spool up" would only stop when I let off the gas, lol. A couple of guys asked you turbo¿ we laughed when I explained
I'm hoping the cold air intake makes a difference. A 🦌 removed the stock one and insurance paid for the cold air intake and filter with 5x the surface area.
As a built big turbo genesis coupe owner it only gets better from here 🤣. If you want oem plus go stuffed turbo and alpha speed tune just keep in mind the bk1 rods are the weak link. Torque is no friend.
You've never heard a turbo untill you've heard two huge compound turbos blipping at 110 psi on a cummins truck. 2000ft lbs at 1300 rpm is like the hand of God scooting you along . I personally like a s369 sxe over a s488. No stero needed.
I'm running the gfb 50% recirc 50% atmosphere on my o2 wrx, not bad with just running cobb tune but peace of mind with a pro tune is the route i ended going. running hks intake, tomei intake pipe, mishimoto intercooler pipe, catless on my quest for sounds. still doesnt sound as good as your set up but its very fun. stock tdo4 duh
Lol we run 28psi on a 3076r with no bov and its a daily driver for the past 30k. Turbo flutter on decel is not terrible. Turbo flutter is only dangerous when it happens during acceleration. Which is due to pressure issues
I got a 2006 mk5 gti it needs a little work I’m just trying to figure out why it says “stop engine off” “low oil” “low oil pressure” but it has good pressure, good oil pressure, a new oil pressure sensor, and the oil is topped up, idk why it’s yelling at me every 2 - 3 minutes after the car is warmed up
That PP to Manscaped transition was disgusting 🔥

Bro as an old dude, I fully appreciated the Vader/Q-Bert reference. :D
Thank you
I got the reference and I'm 18... only reason is cus I've seen Q-bert in the adam sandler movie Pixels 😂

@@noahgray-jt4gqturbo bark haha
Having done the same things, running no BOV will trigger DTC P2261 that will limit your boost to 5 psi until you clear it 😅
That’s neat lol
You mean when they put on the block off plate? Do you know how someone would go around that psi limiter?

Even if the pressure somehow makes it past the throttle plate it's not going to cause a valve to open when it shouldn't.

I built a custom intake for my 2014 Jetta with the 1.8T and it sounds awesome !
Love building intakes lol
I have a fully stocked Hyundai gen are you telling me if I install this COLD AIR INTAKE it will make that sound?
