  • In this video I will be replacing the collector box and gasket on a goodman gas furnace. These furnaces are known to leak after the 7/8 year mark. If caught early the repair is fairly straightforward. If left untreated eater leaks can damage expensive electronics

    Cougar Mechanical quoted 2252.61 for this exact repair. Ordered part for 62.00, an hour of labor, successfully repaired. Learned a lot about HVAC.

    Must not be that common, I have never seen that problem on a goodman.

      We see it a lot, it always starts at the bottom left corner of the secondary collector cover.

      I wonder why Goodman uses plastic here? Does a sheet metal cover cost that much? Goodman is not the only company seeing leaks in plastic covers. High efficiency furnaces break down more often and don’t last as long as 80% furnaces.
