- Elizabeth Tabish is one of the first actors viewers see when they start watching the first episode of “The Chosen,” but her role in the hit Bible-based series almost didn’t happen.
The joy on the 35-year-old actor’s face is undeniable. Underneath her smile, though, is a complicated story punctuated with complex questions about the very existence of God and what that would mean for her - a circumstance coloring the unique place in which she now finds herself: Playing a pivotal role in telling the story of Jesus.

This show has God’s hands on it, no doubts. We feel HIS POWER watching the characters in action. During my 64 years of life I never saw a movie that made me fall in love this deep to Jesus and all of his disciples. I can’t wait to see the fourth season.

I'm 62. I was saved in 2018 but was still lost trying to navigate the Bible. The Chosen opened my eyes, gave the Bible clarity, and, most important, gave me a relationship with Jesus. As Elizabeth said, "I was one way, and now I'm completely different, and the thing that happened in between was Him" and The Chosen. I can't thank Dallas Jenkins enough for creating this show.
My life as well! This series could not have come along at a better time for me in my journey with Jesus!

I can sense her resistance to belief and yet, the surrender to the reality of the divine is falling all over her. God bless her, and I pray she continues to gain strength in her walk towards Christ.

At the moment, she HATES God. Period.
She may say differently but that's what the bible teaches...one of these days if God permits, He may change her heart and CAUSE her to be BORN-AGAIN...and if He does...she will do a 180 degree turn around...what she once hated...she will now love and cherish...

Oh my goodness, everyone has a revelation of Christ who has ever accepted Him, the walk is a walk of life… as we walk through life we discover there is a God- there is a Savior and yes we come to a place of making a decision but Saul said, “when it was pleasing to God to reveal Christ to me.” He had walked along going to the rabbinical teachings, persecuting Jews who were born- again until he met Jesus on the road!
@@rpavich you are very wrong. I got saved as a kid, but fled.from the legalism that was portrayed to me as I got older. It was only 3 years ago that I really appreciated what God has done for me in my life. I've always been bound to heaven because I made that choice when I was young. I never rejected God, I rejected religion. This woman is rejecting religion, but is really starting to understand that Jesus isn't religious. He hated religion. For the record, for some people, it is a journey. One day, it will click for her.and she will accept him. Instead of the attitude you have, pray for her salvation to come quickly...she has to understand to believe.
@@rpavich I agree that to some people it happened 180 degrees like St. Paul. But a lot of people, the conversion is a process. Once you are baptized that doesn't mean you are stop sinning. As for faith, it is not stationary, but you either going up or sliding down. Even St. Peter denied the Lord 3 times right after Jesus told him he is the rock and on this rock the Church will be built. Only God knows men's hearts.

For the actors on The Chosen, there must be times when the Holy Spirit is felt in an inspiring way to bring the story to life as it really happened 2000 years ago!
The Word of God draws the Spirit near.
Well, it's not "as it really happened", the show makes a lot of changes to the Gospels, but it does manage to bring to life the atmosphere and spirit of Christ's mission on earth.

@@Hoi4o They stay true to scripture and add supporting dialogue to provide a sense of depth to the characters and draw you into a sense of the culture of the day. It's supremely well done, with thoughtfulness and love.
I love the way that the “characters” are portrayed. To me, it shows that we are all like Peter and Mary and don’t automatically become like Paul when we accept Christ. It’s a process.
Your not becoming a Paul, Peter, Mary but becoming to the likeness of Christ who is the image of God. You grow in the Grace and knowledge of the Lord to Maturity knowing and discerning Truth from Falsehood?
When did you accept Christ by saying a Sinners prayer at an altar call or did you Choose Christ because you believe that you have Free Will Choice to come to him?
The question is how can you come to Christ by your own ability as I explained above?
The answer to this question is in John chapter 6 read and see if you have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is teaching you!

I love how she talks about Jesus knowing how Jesus loved and cared for women at the same level as men. This is so true and I love this about our Lord!
Worth noting that Paul also didn't automatically become like Paul when he encountered Christ on the road to Damascus. Paul spent years in seclusion after his conversion

@@loremipsum2989 I watched a video clip of him (not part of the film), where he gave a brief prayer in a language he was taught as a young child while talking to the volunteers of Season 3. It was beautiful.
We can't understand God's plans, but we can recognise that from disaster comes hope. Very pleased for her. I had a religious experience many years ago, when I was an athiest, and took maybe 5 years to process and understand it, and to become a Christian. We're all on a unique path.

One of the few times I truly prayed for another anything, I prayed for my Dad, dying of cancer. I prayed the he rediscover God. A day before he died, he finally did. A week later my God came to me unexpected and unasked for... It was the most emotionally intense experience in my life. Even more so than the birth of my children. It has taken me years to process that moment. The aftereffects of which I may never truly understand this side of Life.

Mary is not a character, she was a real person , with an infancy and full life. She did not begin when pen hit paper but her revealed role did. You can read the gospel in a day or so but it covers 33 years. There’s a bit unsaid. I love how “The Chosen “ fleshes out the people along with God’s message. Everyone involved is a gift. Thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Mary is the key to understanding Jesus compassion and redemption. My heart melts and I cry when I watch her scenes with Jesus.
Jesus has said that her story will be told generations to come. Are we in that generation when the majority of youth are depressed and lost, and her are story to show that Gods love is truly real and to renew their hearts and change their lives?

It was, I believe, divine providence that put Elizabeth into this role. The impact of 'The Chosen' in general and her role in particular will be long lasting. I'm astonished at how well she can portray a wide range of emotions. Incredible, just incredible.
For me the Sean when she came back to Jesus, feeling so ashamed and not being able to look at Christ was so powerful, and when he said to her did you think you never sin again? It hit home for me, I was raised up you had to be perfect or else you were lost forever n burning in hell and when Christ said I forgive you wow he does love us so much

I am so happy to hear Liz being more aware of God’s love for her personally. That alone is a great gift.
The casting of this actress into the historical character Mary was a flash of brilliance. It sounds like becoming Mary puts Liz into a very good place. I couldn't imagine the boss not being over the moon to have her on board. Genius move, whoever hired her.
Your acting skills are phenomenal. Your 2 moments of Jesus meeting you and later "I forgive you" brought tears to my eyes and still do, everytime I watch them. Bravo! 👏
It is great to 'see' some of the women in the Bible being fleshed out and allowed to speak to us now. Season 1 ep 1 is still the most moving one for me. Watching Jesus's love and compassion bring healing in an embrace.. Beautiful!

I love how the show treats women as equals, no eye candy, no "hey look, there's that funny gal!" Just realness. Especially at a time when women were essentially treated as possessions.
Elizabeth is such a beautiful and relatable person. I'm astounded that she would have had problems getting work as an actor. She portrays Mary Magdalene wonderfully!

My brother is building the sets for this movie and Midlothian Texas we live in Joshua Texas and it has changed them so much the movie has changed me tremendously but I was already saved this movie is absolutely lovely but anyways my brother has pictures with these people that are playing these movies that's awesome but he has his father-in-law and his brother-in-law working with him on the sets and the entire family got saved because of this movie hallelujah thank you our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I love you family God bless you all

God has always been there for us, and I am glad that you are recognizing that he is there, he never fails us. Elizabeth is excellent in the role she portrays as Mary. Mary is very human in her experience's successes and failures, but always forgiven. Chosen has opened the eyes of many a Christian and non-Christian that Jesus was very human complete with a real personality a sense of humor, compassion, sadness, mortal, feels emotional pain with dealing with loss, and not just some sterile figure that is above us and untouchable. I can't say enough how this has impacted myself.
Elizabeth played this marvelously. Beautiful how god displayed himself through it.

I was surprised when I first heard Elizabeth talk. I thought she would have had the accent she puts on when she plays Mary. All of the actors put on very natural and believable performances. It's amazing.
Only one of the actors is from Israel, the guy who plays Peter. The rest all listened to him (and recordings of his relatives) to learn their accents.

What interesting to me is that Tabish makes a big point about the disappointment in acting as far as appearance, having to 'look a certain way' to have success for women but as far as I can see, she's a gorgeous woman... No less beautiful than any other who might be at the top right now. That's how the world is, any one of us who is especially unique and wonderful can be made to feel that we aren't good enough. See yourself the way God sees you! Good stuff!
Well, she followed that by saying that what she got wasn't well-written. Because she's beautiful, she got shallow, one-dimensional parts. Beautiful people are just as complicated as anyone else!

The entire series has brought the Bible to life and makes things more real, and much more relatable....as a life long Christian I love seeing the reality of Jesus in the miracles, the pain, the happy and joyous times....it is so well done and such a ministry to all peoples.....thanks to Dallas and all the cast and crew for making such a needed series for the times we are in.
She does an outstanding job in her role.
I was born again at 43 years old. When God does this supernatural work to the heart of a lost human being there is no mistaking it. The conversion experience is not dragged out over a long period but is instantaneous along with Justification, Adoption and reception of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Everything changes at conversion and I am praying that her exposure to the truth of Christ will cause her to repent and embrace Christ as her Lord and Savior. She admittedly isn't there yet but is recognizing and experiencing the love of God around her. One day hopefully her testimony will be complete in the love of Christ.
She's so beautiful and her portrayal of Mary is perfect for the The chosen. I love her psychological makeup she seems really intuitive as an actor. She has so many layers in her complex character and transcends all emotions in all scenes.
She's been astounding in the role.

God is incredible. I went from mocking Christians as Bible Thumpers to becoming pretty strong as an apologist.
Liz is the absolute perfect Actress for Mary Magdalene. She was born for that role. I connected to her when she fell into Yashua Messiah's chest, as He told her she was His. That forgiveness is freeing. Bought that painting and it hangs in my office as a reminder.

I've always struggled to read anything being ADD I've read Genesis and Revelations.. they held my interest and fascinated me. I love Jesus and God, been in church since birth, baptized at 15 but turned away in my 20s came back in my 30s so this has been so enlightening and opened my world to that these were real imperfect people even Jesus has a sense of humor and brought it all to life! Thank you!
