Nope he was the worst of the bunch in the early 70 compared to the other groups at that time but not later on. Geezer was actually the lead in most of the songs and Tony just held chords for him. This song is a bad example of this but even in this geezer is actually playing more of a solo than Tony is during the final solo. That's not normal bass playing for a lead guitar Solo
6:59 it's funny how, after almost 50 years of playing together, ozzy looks impressed at tony like it's the first time he's seen him play, you can see the magic in his eyes, the emotion.
So true. Ozzy is in love with what he's seeing and hearing! But just imagine being in a band and Tony Iommi is your guitarist, you'd never get tired of listening :)
Tony later said in an interview that it was during this solo (starts at 4:43) that it fully set in for him that this was going to be his final show with his band of nearly 50 years at the time. I like to think that’s why he belted out one of the gnarliest solos of his whole career as a final goodbye for the band. Long live Sabbath and long live Tony!
Saw “The End” tour in Chicago. Tony’s solo that evening gave me a chill. Been following Sabbath since I was a teen in the 70’s. Seen them many times but his dirty women solo in Chicago that evening was the best live music moment I ever experienced.
Yeah they played Under the Sun and After Forever. A bunch of classics they hadn't played for a long time. Although they had been doing that the last few years. The last show I saw (maybe 1 year before this one) also featured lots of "forgotten classics" don't get me wrong I love Iron Man but we've heard the song live a few times. They had to play if off course but I was happy they had more obscure songs. Dirty Women too but that's been a regular the last 15 years. The song made a big comeback in popularity and you can see that they love playing it. The bass and guitar are very special in this song.
Wow!! Absolutely brilliant vid upload of Dirty Women!... probably the best one on the internet! Thank you so much for all the close ups of Tony's incredible end solo. It's the best version of his entire career. Nobody can say they didn't go out on top. I'm so glad I was there for the last three final shows in London and Birmingham. Black Sabbath Forever!...best band that ever lived! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Black Sabbath is beyond amazing... Iommi is genius... The band with just one guitar and one bass sounds superb... Don't need second guitar. Iommi is enough 🤣 He do everything the other guitarist would do
This is what music is all about. There's not a hint of auto tune being applied here, the lyrics are powerful ("The sleepy city is dreaming the nighttime away / Out on the streets, I watch tomorrow becoming today") and the named band members are all talented enough to play their own instruments without the need for loops or samples. This is the kind of talent that's overshadowed by today's music industry. I doubt we'll see another band like Black Sabbath make it as big as Black Sabbath in my lifetime. I'd like to be proven wrong.
Not in their sense and style. Each generation has their musical prodigies, though now there are many billions so there are more "Mozart's" per generation. Sabbath was one of them among a handful of musicians of that generation. There are still musical prodigies but many of them don't play popular music. They might be some unknown composer who writes piano sonatas that no one listens to. We're kind of past popular music featuring the most talented musicians. Singers perhaps in the sense of technical proficiency. There's a bunch of very talented ones but they sing garbage designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. And those who may have talent and write good music usually live on club scene or maybe have a couple of albums recorded independently with a handful of loyal fans. Of course music always changes. Could be 20 years from now it's all different but the trend hasn't been great the last few decades.
Hell yeah! A lot of black sabbath songs have that weird change up. For example into the void has many weird changes and fairies wear boots and war pigs. Love sabbath
For me, almost as good as 78 live version, just this is a more modern sound through modern equipment, and Tony's skills with 30 plus years more experience.
Is it wrong that I think that Tommy Cluefetos did an excellent job on the drums? Considering Bill Wards history of cardiac issues I would have hated to see Bill Ward push himself too hard.
@@rustyrelicsfarm2406 If Bill Ward looks rough it's because he's old and if he never drums again he is a bona fide fucking legend hoss! So you smile when you say The South or Bill fucking Ward, my man.

Tommy should stick with Ozzy stuff. He’s a good rock drummer but has no jazz swing something that Ward brought to the table with Sabbath. Listen to Dirty Women with Ward on drums then with Tommy. You’ll see exactly want I mean.

I love this song to death but the drummer here doesn't have the true feel of the song like Bill Ward had. Yes he looks like a young Bill Ward but nowhere close to his skill.
Tony never wastes a single note. That's why he's the best as opposed to most guitarists who just make noise. He is the master
❤👍👍👍
This was the song ( and album " technical ecstasy " that got me into Sabbath & loved them ever since LONG LIVE SABBATH!!

I love hearing this played in a deeper tone than it is in the studio version, great stuff
Same. I'm sure they tuned down to match Ozzys current vocal abilities. I do agree it has more of a momentum that way.
Even Ozzy blown away by his chops!!
Cant forget about Geezer! 🔥 He’s going crazy in this song as well
Bro when they start the end solo Geezer starts having so much fun. He really is a guitarisits best friend
I will play this solo at my funeral , if you do not rise from the coffin and jam you are truly gone.
Iommi's tone is unrepeatable
TONY IOMMI THE BEST GUITARIST IN THE WORLD👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

An epic solo from a great guitarist
I love the fact that they played a lot of deep cuts from their albums. There are many great songs that alot of of people are not aware of.

Una maldita y jodida obra de arte del heavy metal
Geezer literally has me hypnotized and only listening to him all while everyone else is crushing it. 🤘
God just the way ozzy looks at geezer and Tony, especially his solo. He is such a true man and lover of his own music. Makes him such a legend
Something about the mind numbing simplicity of it all...gives their sound an irresistible authenticity.
