My grandmother's house was similar to yours. I remember sitting on the porch during rain. Because she didn't have gutters the rain would come down in sheets. It made the porch feel like a room. I remember putting my hand through the sheet of rain. In and out. To keep mud from getting on the house she had pea gravel where the rain hit. I loved that house! Yours will be beautiful and worth every ache and blister. Hugs

Working many hours per week and having limited time for projects on our old house built in 1906 (and, to be honest, not always spending my time as well as I could), I have to say I admire your quick progress. I have worked on our kitchen floor since February (!) and hope to finish this week. The work involved ripping out the old flooring which, in addition to a few layers of linoleum or vinyl, involved some loooong staples and luan across the floor, tar paper, paint (removed with paint stripper, and finally using an edge sander to sand the whole floor renting the machine twice.(My long suffering back...) Finally hand sanding corners and hard to reach places. Many, many hours of work even with help. However, it is sooo satisfying as you well know...

I’m currently having my kitchen ripped out, finally making the final touches before my small business officially opens, all the second hand furniture I’ve purchased to make my kitchen using vintage cabinets and dressers has arrived, my new sofa and chair was delivered and I’ve got tonsillitis and laryngitis. I was diagnosed with ADD after my kid was in elementary school (also on the spectrum), and the dr said that girls (or afab folx) often a) present differently and b) mask, with c) coping mechanisms they develop, because as a society we're taught to be quiet and be no fuss - thus we go without diagnosis, treatment, help - and when our coping mechanisms aren't enough, feel like failures, so have a higher incidence of depression and impostor syndrome. So, my husband and I bought an old house in Moulton, Tx about a year ago, we are still DEEP into renovations. It's probably the most exciting, but challenging thing we've ever done. Every room had 4+ layers of linoleum under carpet, and the final layer over the wood floors was stuck down something fierce. We used a Wagner brand wallpaper steamer from Amazon. Worked like a charm. We used distilled water and had a wet vac and paper towels ready to suck up excess water so the wood flooring wasn't sitting in water. It was super quick. We tried every method you tried as well, and nothing was cutting through the glue that was left on our floors except the steamer. Hope this works if you try it!!

When we pulled up the old vinyl flooring in our kitchen we used a very old iron that we didn’t care about anymore and a tool just like tiny crow.😊 You rock girl, and I love watching this series. Thanks for sharing.🥰🙏🏼❤️

Oh my gosh, I could totally relate to your struggle peeling up the laminate floor and just trying SO HARD to get the biggest piece possible to feel like you’re winning and making some kind of progress. We recently renovated a kitchen and this house had 3 layers of subfloor. The second layer of cement board that laid under his tile needed the same patience and endless scraping with the wonder bar... I feel you deeply.
MaCenna on a real note, this series as well as you bring me so much joy. I feel so lucky to get to peek into your life and to be a silent cheerleader on your exciting new journey! Thank you for sharing! You inspire me endlessly. Much love. ❤️

I know I'm weird, but I love how the floor looks right now, wood but with the patches left behind. Looks so interesting and abstract, I'd leave it unfinished haha. I love the raw exposed shiplap too. I basically want to live in a half renovated, half post demo day house lol. Just add some expensive chairs and the room is done :)
