That last move with the radio is real hero stuff there.
So sorry to hear he passed away. We served together in 10th Fighter Squadron, part of the 363rd Provisional Wing in the UAE. He's listed on the POW rolls at Andersonville Ga. A true hero ❤️
SERE School came in handy! As bad as it sucks, it's a necessary suck!
#RLTW🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Awesome interview
Thankyou for your service
Wingman probably thought he was hearing a ghost and just went with it.
Just like in Star Wars A New Hope
Talk to me goose
LOL
He had his obiwan moment
I think he got to know the voice of his wingman so well, that he didn't even question the order.
@@Lifechanging99999
Use the force Luke. Trust me.
That is pretty bad ass.
Still thinking of his buddy whilst surrounded by enemy troops #HEROIC
Yep ... that's what good fighter pilots do!!
1000%
Totally bad ass
@Moon Cricket
Obviously, YOU would.
You aren't him. You're not fit to shine his shoes, worthless.
@Moon Cricket as we all would.
Went through all of that and cancer got him later in life. F#ck cancer!
Amen.
Wow really!??
That's a hell of alot better than your family being exposed to a video they made of you being ended...
CANCER CURE WAS DISCOVERED IN 1923...ACCEPTED IN 1932...A GERMAN DR FOUND CANCER WILL NOT EXIST IN AN OXYGEN ENVIRONMENT....HYPERBARIC CHAMBER....SIMPLE....GREED IS KILLING CHILDREN AND ADULTS....
Well said
What a beast dude saved his buddy they might have got this bird but they ain’t gonna get another
It’s called a plane, not a bird. No one thinks your cool. So cringe
Col. Bill Andrews USAF (1958-2015) RIP, Sir.
Damn, how did he die? 🫡🇺🇸
@@theshittybowman I just Googled it. Brain cancer.
He passed ? No way ..
How did he pass?
Retired Col. William F. Andrews passed away from brain cancer on June 8, 2015. He was 56.
Men like him should always tell their stories Americans need to hear this
Yes. The 18-22 yr olds
Need to hear it
Unless your tramp he preferred his heroes not get captured and if your killed your a loser
These stories come out more and more as an our tyrannical plutocracy prepares the plebeians (us) for a global war, which we cannot win.

@@ZACHPSU1996A global war huh? Against who?
@@gmanik3588 boomers be like "back in my day..."
Really gave his wingman cheat codes
What a legend
Col Andrews was my squadron commander at Mountain Home --389th FS
There's a lot of douchy comments about his blinking so I'll address them
As he's giving this interview he's dying of brain cancer and after being captured the Iraqis beat him in the head with a hammer as they interrogated him.
It took him over a year of rehab to get back in the cockpit.
He was an excellent leader.
Rest in Peace, Sir
This should not have had to been explained, but thank you nonetheless for the explanation and for your service. My uncle was an Air Force vet from Florida. Vernon Snell, I cant remember his rank right at the moment. He passed away a couple years ago.
Leg broken, enemy approaching, and he was worried for his wingman. That says it all.
Rest in peace, Col Andrews. My condolences to his friends and loved ones. Much respect, @greeneyedrogue
Just the fact he had the presence of mind to warn his wingman shows he was a great man. RIP
The fact that this was the first thing to comment about this baddass shows all you need to know about the tossers! Thanks for your service buddy!🇬🇧🇬🇧👊👊
Unbelievably composed even after being shot down and surrounded. An absolute hero!
This is a warrior right here.
Making the best decisions at all times and thinking about his colleagues while staring at death.
You’re an example of our best Colonel!
My thoughts exactly, a true warrior
Wow, the situational awareness to call out to his wingman while his world was in chaos.
With a broken leg too
What a badass...caught by enemy personnel in the open and still acts as his buddy's wingman 👏 this is what a role model looks like gentleman
That is WINGMAN at TOTALLY DIFFERENT LEVEL!!!!!!
It’s so sad this man died of brain cancer in 2015. What a hero!
Glad you made it home safe Colonel 🙏.
After all that to still have his whereabouts to help his wingman is amazing.
Wherewithal???
If you have the wherewithal to do something, it means you've got what you need to make it happen. Another word for wherewithal is resources, which can mean money, energy, support, or some other necessary means.
@@JohnSmith-yv6eq🤡
A true band of brothers. Still trying to help his brother while wounded and the enemy about to get him. Amazing.🇺🇸
Even on the ground he was still in the sky engaged in battle and helped his fellow pilot
RIP Sir. It was an honor to meet you at Mt. Home AFB.
Incredible heroism. God bless our Veterans

Full respect for this brave guy, not only got shot down but saved his mate in the middle of a crisis.
Cool fact that he radioed his Buddy to tell him to break right from the SAM while the enemy was bearing down on him. Truly selfless
Yes !!!!! Almost Unbelievable
@@franksckupakus8665 just how slow do those SAMs fly😅

What are you saying squirrel you find the story fishy? I don't know I'm sure what he said was verified peer-to-peer
You NEVER leave your wingman! Even when you are down, you're still looking out for them! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Believable, not unbelievable! That his wingman trusted the voice on the air and fired flares/chaff as he broke right shows how well trained our Pilots ARE!
Always Victorious!
🎉❤🎉
Team player. And guy that can be depended upon. Respect
Outstanding Brother in Arms!!!!!! Thank Youuuuuu for your service!!!!! From an ole Retired Navy Chief...
Rah Chief!! ❤
I'll never forget when that happened. I remember seeing him on the news back then.
Thank you for your service and glad you got to come home after what happened
Medel of Honor for this man. He earned it.
I remember being glued to the TV watching it on the news. Good to see that you made it. Thank you for your service. 🙏🇺🇲
Presence of mind in that situation? Guy is a total pro!
WOW. Under fire he radios up to his wing man and SAVES HIS LIFE! 💪💪💪💪❣️🇺🇲🦅🗽HERO! Thank you sir, your service is appreciated more than you'll ever know. ❣️❣️❣️🤗🥰
Wow! Thank you for your service. Amazing.
This sir is so chill during this recounting. Yet I got super tense hearing his story.
I can't thank you enough!!! You were lucky you could save your wingman. God bless 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Lucky to be alive and still warns his wingman on missle
That's why American training is the best in the world. Wingman didn't even think twice, just reacted to his voice.
Good tid bit I've never heard before. Now I have to watch the whole video.
Thank you for your service and sacrifices for us, Colonel.
it wasn't for you. Go read USMC General Smedley Butler on the Subject in his "War is a Racket" book. It was for corporate profits
That is an OG ladies and Gentlemen. Rest well Brother!
Even with ejecting over a battle field. Being shot at, and now a prisoner of war, he still gathered himself to spot his buddy still flying out of harms way… Medal of Honor material right there
You guys give 'em out for nothing, it seems. That wouldn't come anywhere close to starting to approach the initial criteria to earning a VC.
@@charleshowie2074 👈 You have no clue.
@@serpentines6356 Actually, I do. Look it up.
@@charleshowie2074 It's not for nothing.

Dude. What an excellent story. Definitely a hero
I remember this incident. We were advance teams with the 1st Infantry Div. We saw the explosion. We did not recover the pilots. Another unit was closer.
January 18 - An F-4G Wild Weasel crashed in the Saudi Arabian desert after attacking Iraqi air defenses. An investigation found that a single enemy 23 mm anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) round had punctured the fuel tank, causing fuel starvation. The pilot, Captain Tim Burke, and Electronic Warfare Officer, Captain Juan Galindez, ejected over friendly territory and were rescued.
This guy is a straight bad ass!!! Broken bones and still the presence of mind to think about his wing man!!! Thank God the Colonel made it through!!
Geezus, crazy story. One for the history books.
He went down over a live battlefield. We can only imagine what he felt and went through. Props to this brave man.
Wholehearted appreciation for your service to our country.
Thank you for your service, sir! God bless you and your family!
A good man. Yes, a good man.
Listened to all of this yesterday, absolutely amazing story and even got captured by the enemy. Proper hero
Trump hates pilots that get captured so remember that when you vote in 24
Couldn't imagine how terrifying, much love and respect!
Wow. Thank you for your service, sir. I would like to hear the rest of your story.
He's already beat Tom Cruise in 30 sec of story telling....
A real hero...... he died of brain cancer in 2015.😢
Thank you for your service Sir!!!
great job, I see where the training kicked in.
Training AND selection.
Holy crap I could not imagine what would be going through someone’s head as that’s happening and then the helpless feeling once your leg breaks just gotta sit there and wait for your fate

Now that is some balls that under that stress and that threat he's still picked up his radio and helped his man out
I have a family friend who also flew F16s in Iraq, I’ll have to ask him details on this story.
Even in the shit he's looking out for his buddy. He's good people.

Quick thinking saved your wingman. Outstanding.
It's a blessing he made it back home, usually the enemy will execute a pilot when they catch them on the battle field.

This man is a total hero! So great that he could radio his wingman and save his life! 🙏🏼❤️🇺🇸
The awareness to warn your wingman while surrounded and being shot at... pilots, soldiers in general are something special.. respect.
I am always amazed how ingrained it is for soldiers fight for the ones next to them on the battlefield. I know they are trained that way.
Presence of mind under unbelievable duress...unimaginable.
