The vertical take - off would belong to the Harrier Jump Jet. It had medium capability in it`s age in terms of overall agility and speed ( rather slow ) but managed to have a say in the British defense of the Falkland Islands after those Islands were invaded by Argentina in 1982. Where was NATO then ? A Member State of NATO`s territory being invaded by a none - Member State of NATO ? The French were selling Excocet Missiles to the Argentinians whilst the Americans were leasing us ( us Britons ) some ships. Thanks !
