I read a dev post somewhere that it was originally developed for current gen hardware and then upscaled for next gen. The only difference is graphical, better shaders and detail on water, better lighting, better texture resolution, etc. The gameplay and world are the exact same.

They said theyre choosing to have the combat a little more challenging than accessible this time. Plus, they have health bars back again and snipers that kill you in two shots, but you have to admit the chain killing is fun as hell and I wouldnt say it was exactly a "breeze" to go through. The difficulty seemed to be the same as brotherhood.

I like the graphics because if you pause when they show Edward drinking he doesn't look clean like all the assassin's, he looks like a pirate that doesn't care anymore about how he looks and it makes him look very serious and I think I like that! :)

Same here, friend. I'm always counting the days as they go by for AC4. To become a Pirate, captain the Jackdaw, participate in epic naval battles, discovering and exploring a variety of islands (including Pliars - or however it's spelt). This game is going to be beast and I'm going to play the story more than once no doubt :)

Having played AC since the original, I realise it has changed and the stealth isn't exactly stealthy anymore, but I still feel that I'm going to enjoy the game, mainly just to be a pirate and roam the sea!

If you talk about the Animus - yeah,its still there,but really updated - now the memories can be uploaded to a cloud,and everyone can get into the memories of other people. The present-day character probably is going to be an Abstergo Employee ;)

Just some of the things that are standing out to me.
a) the smugglers dens are supposed to focus on melee stealth, but as soon as he walked in the cave there was a cutlass and rifle chilling out in the entrance.
b) The attack animations have not been changed or even varied since the last game. Every stroke of the cutlass follows exactly the same order as the last and whatever aesthetic fluidity comes with changing targets mid fight is rendered void by the fact each transition is exactly the same

Well according to game lore, the Order of Assassin's is more and more diminished, this is why AC3 starts off with featuring the Templars and why you only meet one other Assassin in America (Achilles).
In the comics about AC it is also shown how the last few Assassins live secretly in compounds, something which we also hear from Desmond in Revelations.
The AC game series is not about Assassins solely, it about delving into the past through ancestral DNA to uncover mysteries and artefacts.

Yup. About the "Creed". I kinda remember one of the tenet of the Creed was "stay your blade from the innocents' flesh". Now, I'm not sure if grapeshot qualifies as a blade, but I think Al Mualim would have had something to say (and to stab) about an Assassin whose daytime job is plundering merchant ships and killing innocent sailors for personal greed.

To the folks complaining about the ship gamplay, uhh, AC has always had the occasional frustrating 'tricky to maneuver' transport/machinery sequences, sans the first game. I don't know about everyone else, but ship steering is definitely 100x funner and more satisfying than Leonardo's fucking inventions.

The only think that is strange is how in the underwater Kenway was attacked and there was a blood pool - how the shark hasn't been atracted to the place where the blood was?
It would be cool and it the crew can be drunk,and they won't fight properly,reloading time will the slower etc. It would be cool if they add these 2 things,which will totaly make a pirate experience!

Maybe so but at the very least they were challenging. In AC3 you can kill 50 enemies like it's nothing. Brotherhood and Revelations were also like that. In AC1 and 2 enemies took more time to kill and they dealt more damage. AC1 especially required good timing for things like counters.

I have a feeling the harpooning will be very repetitive: throw the harpoon at the creature until it's low on health --> rope snaps --> creature tries to ram the boat --> throw the killing shot.

Blind loyalty is never worth anything, because that will eventually lead to fanaticism, that being said, I did really enjoy AC3 as well. It had a greater and more detailed world than the previous games (hipster-babies shut up) and sure there weren't rooftops you could run over everywhere, but the setting was a neat change of pace from the Roman-styled cities. Also (not considering the glitches) it was a very good game, combat and gameplay wise and well optimized no matter what everyone claims.

During a interview, they did state that they couldn't make the game too realistic, as it would be too boring for the casual gamer. The breath thing is an example they used. Another example the developers gave is that they didn't want to make a sailing simulator, but a fun experience.

This is next gen footage, the tricky bastards won't show off the current console version because it's rumored to require loads when you get on/off your ship and when you dive in the ocean....pretty much every transition will require a load which will really break things up in a bad way.

Chain killing is fun and it's a fine mechanic but combine that with enemies that are easy to kill as well as regenerating health(In AC3) and it's pretty easy.

talking about dificulty, my favorite combat was ACR. it was amazing, everything i learned from AC to ACB was in that combat and even more with Ezio's new toys. Those new toys were amazing, they were suited for him. Connor made it so easy and borring i swear, only one button push and boom, everyone drops dead. they need to make it more challenging, like more buttons to push, Ubisoft makes good AC games but they simplify it to much. The free aim is perfect, gives you control in what ur shoting at.

Apparently so. R stands for Reales, I think. They were silver coins whereas the gold coins were called Escudos. If you've ever seen Pirates of the Carribean and remember the 'piece of eight' coin, that is worth 8 Reales. It was these coins that Spain minted during the age piracy, so it's likely to be Reales that we'll be using in AC4 Black Flag. I'm just assuming though =]

well AC3 had a lot of advertisement around it, that's why it got so much attention and is the AC game that sell the most out of all the AC series (not saying it's the best AC game out there but the fact is it sell more then any other AC game). I guess they didn't put as much money into advertising the game then the AC3 team did, though I think this game deserves much more attention then it does have right now

You're right, pal. These videos make me awfully miss when the second main character was Al Mualim who engaged you in difficult choices and thoughts about free will, religion, power, essence of government, right and wrong, truth and lie.

Remember that its a game, even though that AC tries to stick to reality and history as much as possible but they also do things for gameplay, as a scuba diver myself I know in real life you can't swim for that long and dive down that fast and too long without doing serious harm to yourself and sharks and other creatures don't attack people on site no matter what the media says
