Beware the Forest Mushrooms - SMRPG [Chill Acoustic Cover]

- Last week I decided to arrange Beware the Forest Mushrooms as a chill acoustic strings cover on stream and recorded most of the parts live during that stream! As we progressed through the song, chat gave me some suggestions for where to take different sections of this arrangement, and I think it turned out really well!
This was my second attempt at a tech test for doing live arranging and video recording on stream to show my whole process, as I try to find a way to keep making performance music content that also shows some production and arrangement process and partly and this time I was able to get a lot more video during the stream!
It's always embarrassing playing my less-proficient instruments live without being able to hide all of the terrible takes, and I set my bar for what was acceptable lower than I typically would so that it would be a little more entertaining, but I had fun with it AND we made an arrangement and recording one sitting (minus some movie magic for a few retakes on parts I was not satisfied with after the stream).

I saw this on my feed and thought "I don't want to click it and have that song stuck in my head all day." Little did I know, just seeing it was enough to get the song stuck in my head! Now I'm here seeking the cure 😅

Oh my gosh, I almost cried when I heard those first few notes with the pure tuning you can only really get with vocals and the violin family 💜

@@SheaViolin it’s not quite the same, but my first instrument used just-intonation so I feel you about pianos and guitars being something to accommodate x3
@@kaitlyn__L When I was little I could NOT understand why the piano was always out of tune or why it felt like what I should be playing was not what would be played by the piano, since they didn't teach any of that, but you pick it up with a lot of listening!
@@SheaViolin yeah, same! They didn’t even teach me properly about being a transposing instrument, just “sometimes other musicians will call the notes different names, don’t worry about it”.
Which was fine… until I wanted to play anything else! I’d always complain the note I wanted was between two of the notes on the piano (or frets) and they’d insist there weren’t any notes in that space… “only 12 notes!”, they’d say, as if equal-temperament is some universal truth.
At least there's more information available today for people that are curious!

I got some great feedback about the live process so far and a couple friends said that it was really compelling. I'm still working on refining things and I got derailed this week with losing my premiere access, but I'm hopeful that I'll get things back on track soon!
