The French invented the potager where flowers mixed with vegetables and herbs in gorgeous designs so the tomatoes amongst the flowers are a suitable nod to that. I love that the 'Lalande' way is to not do the staid and bland and ordinary or expected but to do JOY instead. Costumes and celebrating occasions is part of that and we love it. Stephanie has shown everyone she meets and us that this is a special way to live life. Stephanie's influence transforms the mundane.
Dan is da man. Sure wish I had a Dan.
The transformation of the grounds are impressive. The courtyard is the first to catch your eye and it’s coming to life, love it.
You are efficient in setting up a system for sorting. The attic is now clean and neat. Have you ever noticed how shy people blossom after being in the chateau with your group? Davy is becoming part of the fun. What a genuine and nice man.

The attic looks amazing .. can I suggest putting the wardrobes back to back down the centre.. that way the windows are each side and walkways are beautifully straight along the storage xx

Putting loads of French lavender in the wardrobes keeps the moths away. It's the most effective moth deterrent I have found.

A place for everything and everything in it’s place, it’s all coming together nicely. Davy is excellent at having a vision for Lalande and Dan and his helper are great at implementing it. Sad to see Michael go but life goes on, things to do, places to go. Thank you Stephanie and company. ❤️🙏🏻
The new logo is so lovely! Steve did such a great job, and I’m so glad to see it in the videos! It’s so fun to get to know Sarah a little more. I was really excited when Stephanie said in the Patreon video that Sarah was going to help go through the fabrics! It will be fun to have the two sewists working together! (I will just say…I don’t need the “coming up in this episode” bit at the beginning! I like just starting with the intro music and feeling like the episode happens organically! It makes it feel more like I’m at Lalande and less like I’m watching a show, if that makes sense!) love to everyone!
I love the logo toooo ...just wish the Peacock feathers floated down a little longer with the quintessential "eye" shapes at the end of the feathers showing up. Haven't seen the logo as much 3 yrs. later. And I like just a few snippets that whet the appetite at the beginning ...it's like a 'starter' at the beginning of a meal ...particularly in the longer vlogs, maybe not in the shorter ones.
It’s really touching to see Stephanie & Michael bid each other goodbye. They are two great souls & such a friendship that is so invaluable. Just love those two.
I LOVE your vlog! I too got reprimanded by a neighbor about front yard tomatoes as “edibles aren’t front yard attire.” My response was to plant figs, blueberries, herbs, strawberries, peppers, and 10 varieties of tomatoes around the front yard. 😊 Thank you for your colorful and quixotic videos! They have certainly helped my spirits during the pandemic.
@@equatorialjourney4478 Said neighbor has enjoyed the figs, others have clipped herbs, and the strawberries are ground cover that the neighbors have all enjoyed. Sometimes you have to have flexibility and roll with things. Most plants can be moved or replaced with some ease. I like Dan’s plan here.
I live in Greece and I check the travelling restrictions between France and the UK very often. Because I want cousin to come and start working on the panelling. I can't tell anyone.... only the people on this comment section. XD

Stefanie, your father's decision to purchase a fountain for the main courtyard was good - the one he chose, size & style an inspiration. The plants & their layout work well with it. The view of that area far exceeds the entrances of the chateaux you have visited.
I love cheese and bread toasted! It's comfort food! Sorry to see Michael go but look forward to his return. The courtyard is looking lovely! The sound of the fountain is music to the ears! Love to all!
The chateau needs to do low, low white stone walls around the fountain plantings, to match the wall of the fountain pool. And then fill the walled area with dirt to raise the planting up a bit, give it a touch of height. That way the courtyard gravel doesn't bleed into the box hedge beds and it gives a little more of a regal entrance around the fountain.

I think they have to wait until the damp is fixed with lime mortar on the exterior walls before doing much more to the foundation plants. Stephanie has said that is still a ways off. Future project.

It’s pretty routine where I live in the US to plant vegetables alongside flowers. The flowers attract the bees which then pollinate the vegetables plants.
Miss Stephanie, love your channel, I am a landscape designer and managed a garden center for many years... if you want worms in your soil, spread bark mulch around your plants and the worms will come and turn the mulch into rich black soil with worm castings ....and the mulch will hold moisture in the soil which the plants will appreciate🌿🦋🥰..Kelly

Ian is amazingly capable. He knows what is important to Stephanie and one can see how much he enjoys his work and like everyone else, he appreciates being appreciated by Stephanie. He is a Master and he understands Stephanie and her Vision and is prepared to execute whatever comes next…if possible!🌟💛✨🕊

Dan's tomato plants in Lalande's courtyard is an ode to the English Cottage Garden that originally was a mixture of flowers and vegetables. There's a British history lesson from an American who loves cottage gardens.🟥⬜🟦 I love that you planted Allium in the new garden around the fountain. Please let each Allium blossom go to seed (don't cut it off!) so it can reseed itself around the fountain garden. Each Allium planted feet apart from one another looks far too lonesome! Alliums planted en masse is a whimsical sight to see. You'll love it! 💜🟣💜🟣💜🟣💜

stale bread or even harder bread, in my household (at least when we have bread in the house), I turn into Bread Pudding. With or without raisins. We actually prefer dried blueberries or dried currants.

Dan has worked wonders on the courtyard fountain area. It is looking quite lush! Michael's sister is absolutely stunning. When I first saw her sitting at the kitchen table, my eyes did a double take.

HS anyone though about adding GORGEOUS planters around the front of the house? It adds just lovely levels - a difference for the eye...
It’s surprising to see planters go in right next to a 500+ year old building. I would think the constant water would be a concern for the building. I thought that was the reason most château’s that I’ve seen are always graveled right to the building. Wouldn’t it be safer to just have wonderful big pots as accents for the courtyard and then keep the walls dry?

The fountain is looking fabulous. How about some garden benches on the interior gravel area to sit and admire it in all it's glory and listen to the trickling of water. Maybe one at each of the four corners.
At 13:32 a black caftan sitting in the back is it a vintage Moroccan caftan? It looks very similar to a Moroccan traditional caftan called Caftan Ntaa which is a special embroidery originated in Fez 🇲🇦, it also looks like a vintage Moroccan caftan from the 70's or 80's , if it is hope you could preserve it Stephanie , it is a very special dress , you can find it at different museums exhibitions like the met and other famous museums 😍

If you use cardboard in place of landscape fabric the worms will come & enrich the soil. Can you rake back some mulch & put down the cardboard & remulch?

@@jenniferstewart9012 quick note ....Reusing cardboard for the garden provides compostable material, kills pesky weeds and develops a bumper crop of earthworms. Cardboard in the garden will also kill lawn grass and help you get a new bed ready for veggies, ornamentals or whatever you want to grow. Google for more info.
What a complete turnaround in the courtyard from last season to this! It looks so FABULOUS! I think Dan’s plantings around the chateau are going to look great as well. Sad to see Michael go, but can’t wait to see him back at the cottage working away! 🌸
