Having designed and built several kitchens over a too many years to think about, all "upper" cabinets are 12" deep. This accommodates most china (plates), saucers, cups and bowls. That would accommodate all but large charger plates and things like tureens and platters. Make deeper cabinets (18") at the ends of the room to house those items. Make all cabinets 8 feet tall or whatever the length of your plywood in France. Make all the boxes (cabinets) two or three feet wide to accommodate two or three plates in width. Use glass in all the doors because you will never remember what's behind them all and split the doors in the middle (of the height) so you have four foot tall doors. Lastly, have the cabinets what is called "line bored", or hanger holes drilled every inch or so in order to conserve vertical space. You only need two or three inches over the china to get your hands in so you can add lots of shelves. You also want to be certain the shelves are heavy enough so they won't sag under the weight. This should allow sufficient room for your "stop sign" table in the center. On another note, I would spend a few bucks and have two small signs made for the bottom of the columns at the front entry that say something to the effect of "No Trucks Bigger than Ian's". That poor little bridge is going to just give up the ghost at some point. "Four cent's worth". Jack La Forge

Stephanie, when you said recently about Anna’s bijoux facade being added simply to bring joy. It reminded me of the painting by your Father in the Marquis’ apartment. Do consider making a toe space area. under the plinth, or caster set up. It eases back strain and makes it easier to work at a surface just like the toe space under most modern kitchen cupboards.
KAT'S BACK! YAY! Also, on the china pantry space issues: perhaps you could make a recessed area in the cabinetry that is narrower than the rest of the cabinetry and stores the china that is mostly display china that does get used often? By the way, the moment I saw those two labs I knew a chicken was going to get bitten. I had my black lab for only 3 days before she hunted down a pigeon and she was only 3 months old back then.

don't sacrifice cabinet depth for your octagon. you can always put a countertop along one wall of cabinets,. How exciting, this vlog of the finding of The Lost Tower of Lalande. I'd say it's the perfect title for a suspense-filled tale of mystery and intrigue, of tragedy and triumph, of centuries of grandeur, of decay and ultimately rebirth in the long and tumultuous history of Chateau de Lalande. Now I know how archeologist Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon felt when they had their first glimpse of the treasures in the tomb of Tutankhamen in 1922. Well, somewhat along those lines, anyway. Congratulations to the intrepid Indiana Davy and his fellow comrades on the discovery.

BRILLIANT! SLIDING DOORS
Could be sliding glass doors as well.
That is what I had thought. Also, that bit of lower space could be used to hang tablecloths. Use the upper portions in those areas for the china.
Maybe a combination of sliding and regular doors. Sliding doors limit the size of items that can you can get into the cabinet.

It is the freestyle libre glucose monitoring sensor. That is really cool to see. Davy seems to be having some fun with his adventures.
@@eleniantoniou534 Super cool to see! My husband sports one and I instantly recognized it. Best device ever!
Just adore all the bird song. Hope rooster will recover, poor mite. Philip to the rescue once again. Such lovely mature and polite people settling issues with cooperation rather than guns and negatively.
So happy to see Cat back at Lalande! And I agree, Dana looked absolutely stunning in that yellow dress and the color is so flattering on her.
"I'm the digger" 😂😂 oh Davey.
Seeing Cat (and having her back) is the perfect end to a wonderful vlog.
Always have precise tape and measurements as to avoid unexpected surprises. Thank heaven the rooster is ok! Really enjoy your vlogs, while restoring chateaux is not a dream of mine but I find your joie de vivre and can do spirit to be very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story.
Welcome back Kat missed you and your happy face.
I wonder if there is a nature path that can be groomed through the dry moat, around the base of the tower foundations, along the lake and into the forest trails. Nature and history in one walk.
I was thinking the same. I loved it and that Steph took the camera down through there. It's really peaceful and lovely
I love when Stephanie designs major “structural” things like the important cabinets in the china pantry around a piece of furniture 😆
Being a fan of Time Team and archaeology in general, the stonework discovery is really exciting! Among many exciting things going on there, of course. I don't usually comment because there are so many other comments, but I had to this time.
I love Time Team!
Time Team is what led RUclips to suggest Chateau Diaries to me🙂. ADORE Time Team!
Same! I recently joined Time Team’s Patreon and I am so excited for their new content!
Make sliding doors to the bottom cabinets
Or have folding doors with hinges like shutters. The options are all good aren’t they as that octagonal table is rather lovely.
Kat is back to put spice into all the Lalande life. YES!!!!!
The Chateau Diaries always always warms my heart.
Cannot wait for this premier
Welcome back Kat! We have missed you! Poor rooster, Im so relieved he is ok. Poor thing. Lord this video as always.
Sorry loved this video.
Phillip is truly the 'Knight in Shiny Armor' of Lalande!
One thing I was thinking is that the center unit will cover so much of the beautiful old floor, it seems a shame.
Maybe find a different flooring that would cushion anything that is dropped. Save the hexagon flooring for a room where more of it can be seen.
They also need flooring for an other spot but the dairy flagstones may stretch to help with that. It was an area by a spiraling staircase and a Madonna and child statue.
@@carolinegooder7091 I don't remember that area.
Great shot. I love. It when more of the history is uncovered at Lalande. 💃
:You could make a mini cardboard template of Natalia's room with moveable steps /raised floor , to help you decide. I love your central storage, sliding doors on your wall cabinets would work.
So excited to stay at Chateau de Lalande in a few weeks with my two daughters. We hope to find our very own Chateau this summer : )
Can you ask Dan to show us the wall and the dry moat with his drone? I'm so confused lol
Yes!!!
Yes please!
I love to read the video descriptions. Little sneak peak of what's to come. Gets me more excited!!
I do, too! 💗
"Indiana Davy" had me chuckling! 😅
I would love to see the Towers rebuilt. They may be great houses to rent. Imagine a great family gathering . Great video Stephanie. The dogs need to be put up. God-bless you and keep safe.
That was eventful, lost tower found ,Spud lives to see another day ,thank goodness and Kat is back.
I just lost my favorite chicken to a fox so I'm very happy your rooster is okay. I almost couldn't watch.
Split level sounds like such a trip hazard. All one level is safer. Also outside access with no stairs in case there is ever a mobility issue. Maybe a friend or relative or distant future resident. I'm a caregiver. The elderly and handicapped are often on my mind.
Did the Rooster survive ? poor little bird. Phillip is handsome and a real Hero. Thank you to all
Davey's discovery is so exciting! So glad that Spud is alive ❤️ Welcome back Cat!!
KAT!!!!!!!😀😃😄😁😆 wonderful vlog. I know you were loving Dana’s yellow dress. Can’t wait to see everyone back home. Now we need Isabelle and Percy.
Thank you Stephanie and everyone!!! The history part is so fulfilling!!!
So happy Kat is back!!! You all were busy today!!!
Love the updates
Have a great week!!!
Yes, great dogs, great pets, loyal to a fault but, they ARE hunters.
I am so looking forward to seeing this tonight. It's like visiting with my friends and family!
They ARE our friends and family
I love Kat!....such wonderful humour
When I first saw the Octagonal storage I thought you were going to put it in your new walk in wardrobe for jewellery, scarves, for folding and all that kind of stuff. It would be beautiful in there!!!
Think it’s time for chickenopolis. The chickens need to be safe in their own area especially now the vegetable garden is coming into its own.
The solution to the murderous dog is for his owner to control him and his accomplice. If she cannot, she cannot have him. It’s the law.
Poor poor cockerel. Hoping he’ll be shaking a tail feather soon!
Ecstatic the Kat is back!
I was waiting for this,Stephanie, but I never knew you would search. For the tower so soon! WOW 🤩!!! Unbelievable!! You are literally piecing La Londe back together in a most remarkable 3D way!!! Love all the STORAGE UNITS! Fantastic! Fabulous!!! You never have enough storage and chateaux need lots and lots of everything! It never ends . By the way, have I told you lately how lovely and vibrant you are looking! Take care, Darling! Have a remarkable Day! ❤️
Loved it: Finding the lost tower, cockerel recovering, costume walk in closet being prepared, Cat and Davey, on hand, and out to dinner with friends at a restaurant not previously visited.
Yay!!! The tower!!! Yay!! Cat is back!! Poor Spud! I was so worried when I saw you running Steph!! Omg! Glad is is well!! Big hugs from me!
I'm so happy to see Cat is back! She always brings an amazing energy to the videos
don't sacrifice cabinet depth for your octagon. you can always put a countertop along one wall of cabinets,. A center narrow cabinet with a drop leaf on one side would also give you a table top surface to try china and linens. bonus: you could make it table height! that octagon would be fabulous in a dressing room/closet if it doesn't fit in the china room. Welcome back Cat!
Kat so lovely to see you back.
Kat is back!!!!! Welcome back Kat! You have been missed greatly in the vlogs
Thank you Stephanie love watching all the new discoveries at the chateaux. Nice to see kath back .
Kat so happy to see you!!!
Poor Spud, please let us know how he is. Davey's discovery is so exciting. I'm looking forward to Dan clearing the area. As for Kat, welcome home... ❤🇦🇺
***(*For Nati's apartment****. You can make the whole apartment one level, by creating an entry where you have to walk up three or four very wide steps as part of the entry and then the whole apartment is on one level from there??
What an amazing find! Pat on the back for Davey 👏 So lovely to see Cat back...she is just so entertaining & charismatic 💕
Lovely vlog, thank you Stephanie ☺️
Lovely to see Cat back. Glad Spud is okay. In the new apartment make it all one level then steps up into the garden. Or if it has to be a split level make it so you have step up into the bedroom area and have open balustrade so it doesn’t look closed in.
Love the new piece for the porcelain closet!!! Perfect! Imagining a fabulous crystal chandelier over it, and I love the idea of brass casters on it for convenience. Those drawers and shelves are perfect for napkins and place mats. Well done!

So glad Spud survived his ordeal. Such excitement finding the other tower. Lovely outdoor dinner, great way to celebrate Spring/summer.
An extra delightful vlog, just when I needed it!
And I know I'm not the only one. So many people are being helped---thank you all.
Dana has such interesting friends and acquaintances - ALWAYS. LOVED THAT YELLOW DRESS (her son? Is a little doll too). and I really liked Stephs white eyelet dress. That sunset! AND CAT! AND DISCOVERIES. LOVED THIS VLOG.
Hurrah, Kat is back! How wonderful the second tower and wall have been found. 2021 is looking up to be a grand year.
Yay! Love having Kat back! ❤️❤️❤️ I really missed your wonderful sense of humour and the joy you see in the everyday. Welcome back. Stay a long time. 😊
This vlog always makes my day. Thank you Stephanie and all Lalanders for the joys of your company though in a virtual way.
Yay!!! Cat is back!!💗. So glad cockrel is ok. And finding the tower walls is so exciting! Thank you for sharing Lalande with us 😊
