A 12v71 for a birthday present! Now that's my kind of present! 👍
The fact his son did that for his dad , speaks levels on the type of father that man is ! Really taught his son well ! Great truck for a better man ! Amazing rig 👍
I drove a 1974 Powerliner Freightliner with that engine 600 horse power! Sweet!
Whoever painted this truck is truly a master at his craft.
Hi there Mr Davis,
Greetings from the North Island of New Zealand Sir.
I drove an identical (1979) Kenworth (A model Long Hood) (Detroit Diesel 12V71 520Hp 13 speed Roadranger) identical to this in 1982 Hauling Sawn Lumber out of Portland Oregon to Los Angeles and return with building supplies and am now retired and living in New Zealand.
This Sir is a Wonderful and Expertly Restored example of how things use to be in the United States in that error of OTR.
Great memories of day's gone by ~ never to be repeated unfortunately !!!
Congratulations and Much Respect to you for the hours of work gone into the restoration of this most wonderful peace of Kenworth History ~ as far as I am concerned this was and always will be "Kenworth's Flagship" of that error.
PS: Thankyou to both yourself Ed and Chris Fiffie for this great Video ~👍💯👍
This is easily the nicest truck I’ve ever seen. I want to see it with all his chicken lights lit up!
Any W900 is awesome . Love it. Great Job Ed.
Another man that deserves respect. Commitment dedication honesty and some money all come together to make a rig we can all enjoy.. Thank you Mr Davis for sharing your dream with all of us.
I love this guys story. 14 years was worth it to have such a nice truck
FOR REAL
Its cool watching this being under a load of paper rolls I pulled through Corvallis this morning. This is the kind of guy that's fun to talk to about anything with gears and a engine.
That's the most immaculate truck I've ever seen. Holy Cow... and I've seen allot of show trucks over the years. Must have been an unbelievable amount of hours that went into that truck. Thank you for showing us this.. truly, thank you.
What a great interview and that KW was breath taking! 12-71 and that 2 stroke would make you deaf overtime.
I’m at Kenilworth guy that’s a beautiful ride 14 years and I can’t even imagine how much money you got in it but it sure is sharp real nice top shelf
Welp, this just became my favorite Big Rig video, love how he said "we got carried away"!!!
That's the sound of a REAL truck!!!!
That ol Detroit is ready to get it!!
Thank you for keeping vintage trucks alive Mr Davis
Chris I think we need another interview of the truck and this owner. Well spoken, easy to listen to, gorgeous truck. I hope you bring us more on this !

Another great video Sir. You can tell the mans love for the trucking industry. It's not just a job for him. It a passion. The trucking industry needs more like him..
You sir hands down have a beautiful truck love the sound a Detroit specially the old school ones, love the sound of a 71 and 92 2stroke
Now “Ed Davis” is the the Real Deal - Trucker. Been around a long time and his knowledge of the Trucking industry is based on experience and knowledge.
One Gorgeous Rig an Incredible Detail on every inch 🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼
thank you very much!! great interview..i have driven detroits over the years and miss then to this day..just a beautiful A model whopper..
As an old Detroit mechanic I love to hear any old 2-stroke Detroit. My favorite was the 6-71.
Papa Steve my dad hauled wood with one. (V-12, big injectors, 13-speed, two speed diffs)
Hands down best power for the time. 70’s era. Problem wasn’t with power but the race it would win to the fuel ⛽️. Sure pull though
I recall once when I was out truck spotting, I heard a red Ford dump truck with a two stroke Detroit. What was kinda ironic about it was that it was a GM produced engine in a Ford truck.
@@missesmew by.
Papa Steve stinky Detroit
Papa Steve I’d rather have a cat
Love these old rigs. They all had their own look back then.
Hell yeah Ed!!
So cool to see it runnin man
All the best to you and Jamie

I'm a Peterbilt guy, but that KW is the best looking truck I've seen all year. Much applause for ol Eddy.
J hillbilly Schu Amen brother 🤙
I like Pete and KW 👍
Im only 46 and i missed it all, but i find it very interesting that in the 70s, the musclecar was dead or dying, but the big trucks had an out and out horsepower war!
Burt reynolds was great in "bandit" ^^ a lot of beautiful trucks and a black Pontiac firebird 6.6 turbo !
The time when we had a very good movies (i'm just from 1977)
There are many world class car channel. And very few world class truck channels. This is one of them, been such ever since
Best interview ever.
Awesome story, great guy and an amazing KW
That Sir… is awesome.
Love the 12 all chromed up, with twin turbo’s.
Enjoy
MAN THATS ONE SWEET RIDE 😍😍
Now *THAT* , ladies and germs, is what 100 grand *SHOULD* look and sound like.
100 grand the motor prob cost that
@@mackenziesibley7025 Nah, I've heard a stock Detroit 2-stroke rebuild is around $1000 a cylinder. A custom build like this, probably $30-50k, about what the average 3406B Caterpillar costs. Probably got $100-$130k in the whole truck. Maybe a bit more, depending on how much of the work they did themselves.
I dont know the exact cost but...ive become a big fan of it after watching the video. The owner seems very cool...and his truck is badass! I LOVE the way it looks and sounds!
@@JK-js2td They don't make 'em like that anymore, that's for sure.
@@anonymousinc6330 i agree...and Kenworths are always my fave!

You got to respect someone like him,I started trucking in 1974,but they were Bob trucks up to October of 88 I started driving big rigs, otr.im retired but this guy got me fired up along with all these trucker videos, I've got some change coming so I may get me a 379 with a 48ft reefer, Customized that will be my retirement enjoyment, hey some folk get motorcycles and RV's.

That is one sweet truck. I usually give trailer queens a hard time, but this is one truck that deserves to be riding on a trailer. It's just too nice and is more a piece of art than it is truck.
