Excellent review Rob! The Eagle II is a nice next step from a Decathlon, and that’s a beautiful looking example.

You referenced transition from a Decathlon - I'm doing basic acro training in one now. You mentioned stall behavior, but aside from the spin entries, didn't demo. Comparison? The landing approach looked Pitts'ish. Curious how difficult landing it is. No time in a Pitts, but have watched videos on landings and the rep is quite challenging to land. Is the Eagle the same, easier? Landing a Decathlon I didn't find too challenging.

If you have the opportunity, try flying the Decathlon from the backseat. That's the same basic sight-picture of the biplanes. Handling characteristics were benign in the slow speed. No real bad habits and it communicates edge of the envelope feel nicely. I typically fly a continuously curving approach in all the aerobatic ships as it affords runway visibility until as low as possible.

Merry Christmas to you and yours my friend. You have to compare it now with the one in DCS :-)

DCS missed on roll rate. Ground handling is pretty close.

    Thanks for reviewing this Rob!
How easy is it to see the instruments from the rear seat? Surely a passenger covers them all?
    Cheers!

The good news in these airplanes is there’s nothing up there I really need to see. The airspeed is just an easy head tilt to look around a front seater. I didn’t find it difficult at all.

It was no harder to see the instruments than all the time I spent instructing in the backseat of the Decathlon.

@@SpreadAviation Thanks for the reply! I'm going to see one today that I'm thinking about buying but most of my aerobatics to date has been done in an Extra, so a new consideration for me!
