What’s very unfortunate is this was the last thing some people heard before they were bombed. I believe this or very similar sirens were used during bombing raids. Can’t even imagine what you would feel during those last moments

So, my husband and I were woken at 11:20 p.m. to this sound. It was really ere. It's been going on for about 40 minutes (we had never heard the sound before). Really weird and creepy. We wondered if it was a test or some kind of clitch....we're near Gatlinburg, TN.

Yup. ‘Specially here in MI. Tornadoes are almost every spring and summer.
We have very similar sounding sirens on the gulf coast, comes from the local Navy shipyard when severe weather is close. It's rare to hear, usually only when the wind is very high to the point of bending trees and blowing garbage cans all around town before a major hurricane. Still, eery!
When I was in Iraq we heard Air raid sirens all the time, I still get chills no matter what siren I hear.
It must have been an incredibly intense experience to live through those constant air raid sirens in Iraq.

As a kid, I lived within 10 miles a nuclear power plant. They tested the sirens all the time. Thing is, we were so inside the blast radius, by the time the sirens would get to us, it would be too late.
The weirdest thing my cat doesn’t get spooked about much, he’ll look for cat or lion or wolf sounds I play on RUclips but this one alarm within a second of it playing he jumps out of his shoes every time… very strange to me
