Have you ever thought about being a professional teacher? In my opinion you have ALL the qualities to perfectly transfer knowledge to another person. You explain things in a very simple direct way as you demonstrate precisely what you are saying. Brilliant!
He is a professional! And I, as a Fellow Educator, admire and envy his work! and yes, SeenoChasm, the ability to "lighten up" the material also helps to keep the class awake. When you make it relevant and funny, it gets remembered!
I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.
I love Felix’s fun little videos. He teaches so well and they help us to enjoy our Swiss Army knives and make the most of them. Thanks Felix. Been enjoying these since lockdown. Sorry I didn’t comment earlier! 😎🤩
After watching so many of these wonderful, so helpful videos done with joy and expertise, I'm falling in love all over again with my Swiss Army Knives. Wunderbar, Danke Felix.
Danke mein Freund. Heute habe ich erfahren, woher das Wort "Genius" im Englischen kommt. I need to start watching your videos in Deutsches, Felix. I used to have it pretty well and am feeling a need to get it back.
Half way through this video I already know I'm going to watch this at least ten times to fully understand this method. Wow, Felix, what a great tip. Further I fully agree with John Cortex and all others here, you're the best possible teacher.
Absolutely love your channel. Everytime you post a video, it is alway entertaining, informative and fun. You are the Bob Ross of Swiss Army Knives. Be well kind sir !
Scissor sharpening can be a challenge for me. Thank you for showing and sharing the angle guide which is perfect tool to maintain proper edge control. You Sir are a master mind and we Love Vctorinox SAKs!! ❤️ 🇺🇸
You are a genius Felix! Even though my scissors need a good sharpening, I still don't understand too much how to do it. However, I definitely understand what NOT to do. Thank you for that!!
Hello from South Texas! I absolutely enjoy your videos. As soon as I started watching I wanted to go get my very own combo knife. Still trying to decide which one I want to carry. Your content is spot on and I can see how much energy, effort and thought that goes into each video. However, being from South Texas and having people say I/we have an accent….you are enjoyable to listen to and doing an excellent job with your English. Have a wonderful day!
I echo the comment by John Cortex. Your level of enthusiasm is contagious. This is a very important characteristic of a REALLY GOOD teacher. You definitely keep your viewers connected with the points you are showing.
@@FelixImmler You are always so nice and warm hearted, It is a pleasure to be welcomed like you meet an old friend each time. Thank you for that and please never change dear sir.
I don’t know how I didn’t know about your videos before last week. You do a great job with them, and it’s just so enjoyable to watch you do something improvised or New, or just to take special pride enough craft. Thanks for taking us on your journey. By way of giving back, the scissors sharpen easily by cutting aluminum foil. Just folding a piece of aluminum foil over, snipping it, just sharpens them right back up again in a pinch when a persons away from the workshop. :-)
Over the years I have bought several Victorinoxes, but the one I am most fond of is in Switzerland - in a sort of Autogrill - forty years ago now. I use it all day, I live in the country, and I must say that I have never felt the need to sharpen the scissors, although I often use them on myself for "delicate surgical operations" on the toe nails ... (instead, I redo the edge to the main blade every time I need a precise and clean cut, surprising me every time by the longevity of this tool).
glad to see someone mentioning how scissors actually work , I'm tired of seeing "sharpened" (ruined) scissors by people(professionals even!) who think they're just 2 knives in a pivot
Thank you, Felix! I just saw this video, followed your instructions, and now my SAK scissors are VERY sharp! I couldn't find the Victorinox Diamond Sharpener (which you used), so used the grinding stone of the Vic Dual Knife Sharpener (I've also got some ceramic rods which I could use...not sure if one would work better than the other). Cutting paracord is now a snap! Thanks again!
Excellent video, thank you so much. I have no hesitation in subscribing straight away to your channel without even watching another video. Sometimes you find people on RUclips that you just know are amazing. I cannot wait to see your other videos. Best to you Felix. Many thanks Gray
Thank you for your awesome sharpening videos and for providing the special angles, tips, and tricks. I made a template for the scissors, awl/reamer, and large blade out of some old credit cards.
Thank you so much! I have a really nice Victorinox Swiss knife I got from my father a decade ago, and the scissors especially are very dull. I’ve been afraid to sharpen them myself, for fear of causing damage, but your explanation is so detailed and helpful that I think I can do it!
Felix, thank you for your videos! I always watch them with pleasure. Your videos are very detailed and informative, I don't even need a translation into my language to understand you. Thank you very much!
I have a really cheap garden pruning shears that cuts way better than a (somehow) expensive Fiskars I also have. I was disappointing about the Fiskars cause is more ergonomic, way better steel and way sharper, but fails to cut properly. It felt that it had bad geometry, but after this video is plainly clear, and I can try to fix it. Thank you for yet another wonderful video!
The shearing angle needs to match the material being cut. Look at an old-fashioned paper cutter and compare that angle to a pair of metal-cutting snips. If you cut metal with the paper shears they would dull quickly, and if you cut paper with the metal snips the cut would be ragged. There is also the mechanical force between the blades; for them to 'shear' the cutting surfaces must always be in contact with each other. The surface hardness of the metal resists wear and the in-depth hardness resists denting. We think of scissors blades as being straight but the good one's aren't. Hold them up to a light sideways while closed and you'll see light between the blades toward the pivot while the tips touch. Open them slowly and watch the contact point move toward the pivot. Also look at the blades on the plane where they slide across each other. Again what you thought was flat isn't- that is slightly concave or angled, and because of that when the edges rub across each other any small dents in the cutting surface either get sheared off or pushed back into shape by the other blade. This is what creates the "self-sharpening" action. So once again we find something which seems very simple, yet is actually very complex if it's done well. There is a lot of thought in making good general-purpose scissors which must both cut delicate things such as paper cleanly, yet not deform or chip when cutting something harder like wood or light metals. And once again the older non-stainless carbon steels do a much better job than newer alloys because of their overall properties and how they can be hardened both in-depth and on a surface only. Mr. Immler's trick of finding and holding the angle while sharpening is awesome, and as long as the correct angle is used will work for sharpening any shears or scissors. Another great video from the world's Master of Victorinox :)
Hola amigo eres un genio, gracias por compartir tus ideas. He visto varios de tus videos y son muy interesantes. Te felicito por tu canal. Saludos desde Argentina!
Such an incredibly informative video! Even though I don't need to sharpen any of my scissors at the moment, I loved your visual explanation for how they operate.

Hello Giampiero. Thanks a lot for your wonderful story!
AFAIK the scissors are self-sharpening when used, I guess that's why they require less maintenance than the other edges on the SAK
