@@thedarkstranger963 How many planets in the universe have as many heroes as Earth in the comics. Comics are Earth centric for relatability. We are the center of power and such. Any other planet without said heroes is a snack for Galactus.
The moment Galactus was introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, that was when Marvel Comics went cosmic.

To be honest I never saw Galactus as a villain but more so as a force of nature. A god who takes no pleasure in destruction and death. It is simply a means to an end. He’s even willing to try and avoid killing. That was the original point of the heralds.
Galactus doesn’t want to hurt people, he just has to eat planets to survive and keep the universe balanced.
This implies Galactus has a conscience, which would put him a step higher than the big businesses of the world...

Actually he got to earth by mistake,if you read the comics...the watcher actually confused surfer by making earth appear as an asteroid,surfer tried to investigate the area but Galactus appeared soon after anyways

They have to do it right. Galactus would be to me, the most important character they could possibly introduce in the MCU. Much more important than any they have introduced so far.

I dont think eating empty planets will fill his appetite. That's why the silver surfer offers him to search for planets with less intelligent life than that of his people like earth. humans.

After so many countless eons of being a Herald of Galactus and being imbued with the power cosmic, one may lose their humanity and think and act like a god like being. So, maybe he wasn't even aware that he has become like the one who steps on ants. He just knew that Galactus needed to feed.
By this point the surfer had been a Herald for longer than the lifespan of some stars. That changes you.

He was involved with the early concept of GALACTUS the only thing that Stan wasn't involved in the GALACTUS trilogy was silver surfer that s all Kirby
You should look up Alan Moore's opinion on Stan Lee.
Stan Lee wrote all the dialogue. Stan lee also created the original concept of Galactus
I really hope they make a Galactus movie. Such as the New Black widow movie, Iron man, Etc. Just a movie to explain his origins and stuff.

He appeared through the clouds to the World in The Fantastic Four : The Silver Surfer movie which came out in 2007 , and there is a new query that Thanos was a herald of Galactus.
If that was the truth then Galactus is the next largest antagonist in MCU.

One of the greatest cosmic entities in the history of cosmic entities. Would be cool to see a fight between Galactus World Eater vs Life Bringer Galactus. Who would win? Or Galactus vs the silver surfer hybrid from MC2 the Anti Galactus.

Having the need to eat planets to survive is a pretty big weakness
As a young kid I was supposed to do a book report, and I got ahold of a reprint of the fantastic 4 galactic saga. it's epic, sweeping, and frankly adult topic moved me and lit my imagination, I wrote out everything with care and great detail.
My oral book report had the entire class riveted. I looked up each word so I could explain everything to the class, who asked a ton of questions.
my teacher eventually cut me off and the whole class grumbled.
I got a D as a grade because a comic book wasn't a "real book."
I was 9 years old at the time.
Your video brought back a great memory of mine which I regard as a triumph.
So how does Noran go from "No, don't kill people, take me and I'll find planets that don't have people on them" to "Hey, here's Earth with several Billion People for Galactus to eat"?
He doesn't remember being noran rad and if u remember he eventually tried stopping Galactus and got trapped on Earth for a while

@@jakgff5885 But Galactus literally said "I won't eat planets with people on them if you find me some planets that don't have people on them" and the Watcher said that Galactus' word is law, so why would he then have his herald go find him planets with people on them? It doesn't make sense.
And he only stopped trying to kill Earth after he was convinced not to. He didn't do it because he felt it was wrong. He had to be convinced that people were worth saving.
If I remember correctly, I think it started with Galactus abiding by the deal but eventually he started to need worlds filled with life and when Silver Surfer wouldn't allow this, Galactus took away his compassion and memories so he'd just find him any world. I don't think it was just "Find me worlds with no life...oh wait, never mind."
Galatcus needs life energy to sustain himself. He really doesn't want to do it but you kind of have to put yourself in his boots for a minute. Would you be willing to strave just so a roach could eat? Or would you clean the kitchen killing the roaches so you could eat?
Anyone else get the sense that over the last few years, Galactus has been much more prevalent in the comics, and has had maybe a bit too many new heralds, being ones that we all know and is almost strange to be his herald (like now with Thor) ...because they know/knew that GALACTUS will be making his MCU debut shortly???
Even before WE heard about even the rumors of Disney buying Fox or the Fox marvel stuff, its like marvel knew it would happen eventually and got people (especially casual comics readers) ready by putting him in more shit and getting everyone more familiar with him!
It wouldn't be a massive surprise, it's a good way to build hype before the characters even in the MCU.
Having a character prevalent in the comics it starts a conversation between fans of "Man wouldn't it be awesome if Galatius is done right by the MCU" add time and a correct time to reveal, it's some clever, long term marketing.
@@SkywardSpork well I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I of course think that that is what they do, kinda like the opposte, pushing down FF and Xmen, to kinda separate themselves from those properties a few years back, especially FF, since all those movies (especially the last one) flopped
I agree, but Thor would be an ideal herald for Galactus. He has the All-Father force, combined with the power Cosmic, might be enough to save the universe.

There was also that time Galactus became *friends* with a group of humans who came to his ship and gave him an upgrade, then created his own super team of planets and thoughtforms, and saved the multiverse.

The Galactus/Silver Surfer story arc always reminded me of a story that would have shown up on the original Star Trek tv series. Kirby & Lee really hit their strive with this 3 issue arc. Marvel comics came into their own and ceased to be throw away fodder for kids.

This is why i love Galactus. He's not a power hungry villain that destroys stuff for fun rather he has a good reason for it. When norrin told him how he will destroy an entire race he just replied with reasons in some sort of desperation that he's just happen to be the way he is and he can't help it. He's right. He's a force of nature and it's what he does for survival.

Wonderfully done. As with many, I assume, Galactus always held a special place in my mind-now I know that is because he may as well be real, as with all other characters in the best fiction. I'm interested in two things, however: 1) where does Galactus' hunger come from? And, perhaps more importantly, Jack Kirby said near the beginning of the video that he "went to the Bible" for inspiration for this character. Knowing what I know now about the region in which the early biblical stories took place, I would be extremely interested to learn which Bible story inspired him. The story of the nephilim would be an obvious choice, but something tells me that isn't right...Many thanks for this, well done!

Gotta love this channel ,it awoke my intresst for comics yet again. Just recently bought an old wolverine comic eritten by frank miller and chris claremont , in a new re-print and also first issue of the new shazam comic series. ^^ looking forward to more fun episodes like these about over epic cosmic villians.

Why doesn’t he just eat the power stone giving him infinite power to feed on?
Well he doesn't just feed on power alone, the essence of a planet has a unique energy signature and is the only thing that satiates him. This is why he prefers feeding on planets that are teeming with life, the life essence of organisms are especially palatable to him and sustain him longer.

Galactus went from a guy who was willing to sacrifice his own life to save others, to a guy who wouldn't hesitate destroying and consuming entire galaxies full of life, but it's all because of his insatiable hunger, he's a villain by force not by choice.
Not even a villain if you think about it. he's literally just trying to survive. as the video said, he's just REALLY high on the food chain. it really is true that ants are to humans as humans are to Galactus.
