End of an era sucks but happy to see Mayo start the next. He was an amazing player and always been great with the people around here in Boston. Glad to have Mayo and his family sticking around and based on prior history he should be here for a long time
Jerod was a pretty good player but somehow the patriots won 6 Super Bowls and he wasn’t a part of any of them, he’s never won a thing as player or coach
The year he was drafted by NE was the first year I really got into the draft and wanted the Lions to take him.
I remember NE was only picking high because CAR traded a future 1st for an early 2nd so they could grab a guy in the year before who ended up being a bust and NE ended up with a top 10 pick.
That trade had so many long term ramifications for the Patriots. There's no way he would've made it to their other 1st round pick which was probably late 20's early 30's.

I love Jerod Mayo but I think this is a huge mistake. I remember watching him as an analyst in the local area there. He was... OK. He STARTED coaching in 2019. And in his fifth year he's a head coach. I hope to hell I'm wrong but I don't think anyone should be a head coach until they've coached at least 8 years, maybe 12. I think they made this plan with no idea Vrabel could ever be available.

@@RK-um9tu From the players themselves 😂. Tua, waddle, ect. He hired two offensive cords. I like Flores, I hope he gets another shot. He has to go to a team that has a vet QB and establish o cord. Dude is a great defensive coach, just not for the offense
@@dame3323 That's only because the GM wanted to draft Tua over Justin Herbert. Flores was right. Tua might be playing well, but Herbert is a better QB, and if he was playing rn with Mike McDaniel, he would have thrown for 5k yard and 40+ TDs and Reek would be over 2k. His deep ball is much better. Tyreek is always slowing down and looking back for passes with Tua. With Herbert, he'd be lead into the deep ball more.
I distinctively remember Mayo laying a massive hit on a Ravens player in the playoffs and he tore his Pec. Was devastated but the hit was one to remember. Nobody could run up the middle with him and Spikes together.

My favorite Joe Flacco memory was him saying he was cashing weekly 1 million dollars checks but was too cheap to rent an apartment in owing mills , instead opting to take a 1 hour and 25 6:44 min drive to Jersey for almost an entire season 😂

Question. Does this violate the Rooney Rule since they didn't interview the required 2 external people? The rule doesn't say if you hire someone internally, you're exempt from the rule. Just that you're required to interview 2 external candidates.
No for two reasons:
1. It’s a promotion from within the organization.
2. He’s Black so no one can claim Rooney Rule.
Mayo is black. So what’s the problem? Seriously. U want black everything?
If there is a succession clause within a contract, then you do not have to interview other candidates. Mayo had the succession clause in his contract as an assistant
If the NFL truly wanted to "end racism " they'd have a Sehorn Rule.

It's crazy how things come full circle. Belichick goes from resigning on a napkin after Parcells had a contract clause nsming him HC of The NYJ to having his own contract stipulation naming his successor.
I get being pumped for a former player is the next HC but cmon man this dude said the same thing when Vrabel became available. Be a fan and support your team but have an honest opinion if this is your profession.

Having a guy named as head coach that studied under the guy that led the team to 4 wins doesn't really give me a lot of confidence. Maybe that's just me and I'm wrong. Tom Brady was the guy for the Patriots, and when he left so did the wins.
