      Confidence is hard for many of us, including me. Speaking out loud as much as possible is the only way to increase your confidence. I still make tons of mistakes when I speak Chinese, but I've learned to not worry about them too much. Native speakers make lots of mistakes when they speak, too, so it's natural for non-native speakers to make mistakes. Just keep speaking, and your confidence will grow more than you can imagine 👍👍👍

      Your Mandarin accent is so good, The most difficult part when I speak English is I often forget what I am trying to convey to the listeners and the conversation ends awkwardly. 😅 And I always stutter and repeat the same sentence over and over again, That makes me feel extremely frustrated. 🥹

      @BrettLEnglish  Месяц назад +1

      I'm glad you're receiving so much benefit from the course. Forgetting what you want to say is really common. The fastest way to improve the situation is by doing tons of speaking practice. Every day, spend about 3-5 minutes a few times a day just speaking out loud. Imagine you're having the type of conversations you'd be having in real life. As you'll be under no pressure, you'll be better able to focus on expressing yourself. After about a week or so, you'll be significantly better than you currently are. I used this method myself with Chinese. It's great!

    其實台灣人聽力不是語調 ,把語調跟讀,念出約二十分後就可順入,還有一個是連音,最後要把英音美國音都發音出,有些字有三種以上發音,越年輕時聽,就會深入腦,語調只要兩主要語調拉長,拉高,這是台灣人茫點,中國大路沒有,因為大路用拼音,本身就接上國際,語調跟要比聽音更小聲,這是我破解聽力, 不要花很久力,效果很好,最後最難是完成九成單詞

    each new word learned correctly opens up opportunities. 我唸word,但google一直辨識成world,也看了很多其他視頻,無法改善。如果朗跟讀遇到瓶頸,應如何克服?

    • @BrettLEnglish
      @BrettLEnglish  2 дня назад +1

      The first step would be to record yourself saying "word" and "world". Then listen to them while wearing earphones. See if you're pronouncing it correctly. If it's not correct, copy someone's pronunciation and listen to it until you're close to the native-speaker pronunciation. Also, voice recognition software often doesn't recognize a single word, so Google could easily mishear "word" as "world", so be sure to say it in a sentence.

    • @BrettLEnglish

      There's probably no simple answer to this question. There are two elements to consider: who do you want to sound like and how will people judge you. If you want to sound like a particular person, then you can copy their pronunciation. If you worry that people will judge negatively, then you might want to choose someone else to copy.

      For learning speaking, phonetic alphabets (IPA, KK) are not necessary, especially now that you can just listen to pronunciation on your phone. The most important thing is to listen to correct pronunciation and speak as much as possible while trying to imitate that pronunciation.
