Camping In Abandoned House

- Thanks To Mitch for recommending this #camping place. I finally got to camp in the holy grail of #abandoned buildings. This Building was on an old property annexed for city development and is classified as an urban park, so I knew what I had to do. A quick sneaky camping trip was just the ticket!

Steve is such a considerate and swell guy, he always makes sure to not make people too concerned or feeling uneasy unnecessarily. Love seeing this.
And his conversations with us are refreshingly "family friendly". I encourage my grandson who loves camping as a Boy Scout to watch these videos.
It's because he's Canadian!
I dunno, I screamed "Steve, look out behind you!" when I first saw the thumbnail.
And then I thought "wait, who uploaded this?"
It's because he genuinely believes in stealth camping. It's not very stealthy if you annoy or concern someone. This isn't a TV show.
Gotta be a real nice person to do what he does and get away with it. Don't ask me how I know.
I love how Steve was real worried about hoodlums burning the place down while he slept, but has no problem starting a fire in the house five beers later.
lol i thought the same thing glad im not the only one
Lol. Gotta love Steve ❤️
Steve starting the fire with the owl hooting in the background was an amazing vibe
I loved the owl!!
Steve, I noticed you choking up. Please know you are not alone in your sadness. There are people out here who are also hurting, and having you there to share your time with us helps so much.
I can only hope my/our presence helps you feel just the tiniest bit less alone in the world
There is someone out here Steve, and we love you.
Thank you, from the bottom of my own very broken heart ❤️
You’re a good companion through the thickest of saddles. You’re a partner lover aren’t you
honestly the most understanding comment ive seen on youtube
I needed this today. Thank you Steve for being here for those of us you will never meet. You mean so much to us!!
Definitely needed this, this and a beer 🍺
Thanks! You guys also mean so much to me as well. I have the best subscribers. ❤
And we have the best...you my man! Now for step 2:) @@campingwithsteve
@@campingwithsteve You're the Best Steve! Wondering if you can heck the CC/subtitles for us nearly deaf fans? Thanks!
Yes, I needed this today as well!!!!
Steve in a creepy, possibly haunted abandoned cabin in the woods is exactly the Halloween content we needed
meh I saw a tent next to walmart and at first thought I found him I found steve but as I got closer I was like nope not steve this guys a pig steve is to clean and by all the trash i knew it was not steve
This video had a real "Blair Witchcraft" vibe to it.

Thank you, Steve, for the inspiration.

I can't get over the fact that Steve was worried about a MOLOTOV COCKTAIL and not all the normal things someone would be worried about when camping in a rundown building in a storm
Lmao I couldn’t believe when he said he was worried about a Molotov flying through the window, who would think of that lol
I would have sworn he would say something like that such an old house could collapse in a real storm, that trees could fall into the house (as can be seen on that stair-path), that the old, rotten roof could collapse.
But no, Molotov cocktails. Lol.
@@rolanddeschain6089 That's exactly what I was thinking - as the winds picked up around that dilapidated house - roof could blow open more, tree could fall, etc.. .. But no, the LOGICAL thing to worry about are rogue Canadian youths randomly lobbing Molotov Cocktails in the middle of the night at long-ago abandoned houses in the fall with dry leaves and trees everywhere. LOL... I mean, WTF?
@@vaprex it's not so ridiculous a concern as you might think: my girlfriend & i were on an island in the Ottawa River & saw 2 yahoos totally trash a homeless guy's shack on the shore across the way then pile up all the smashed remains & torch it, almost setting fire to the bushland above the cliff the shack'd been built under. i've heard of other similar acts of random brainlessness (&, for that matter, had a shack of my own burned down, though i later found out that was through sheer carelessness). someone always has to prove they're an unmitigated asshole: be glad it's not you!
@@jwc3o2 OK, yes, I'm sure kids do really dumb stuff sometimes -- but if I were sleeping in an old abandoned house that had been there for MANY decades (tens of thousands of days) what are the ODDS that *that night* is the one night the place gets bombarded with Molotov cocktails by hoodlums?? It's basically zero percent chance!! The wind and surrounding trees are by far a greater threat, and even *that* isn't that great a threat . IF it were, the house would be severely damaged and under many fallen trees! I think ppl need to think and understand a bit more about how probability works - especially when it comes to things relating to "chance of harm". A prime example is the irrational fear that people have when it comes to flying on airlines, thinking that commercial planes have a high likelihood of crashing... Of course, you're *far* more likely to get killed/injured driving to the airport than on the flight itself. Maybe Canada has orders of magnitude more old-house-hating, Molotov-cocktail-throwing youth than the USA, but I'd be surprised. Canadians *seem* to have their heads screwed on better than those of us in the lower 48 in the U.S.
Steve is what I'd expect Elmo to be like as a human. I mean that in the most endearing way because they're optimistic about everything but with a certain level of caution ❤
Elmo was created to help kids grow up into good, caring, authentic, responsible, fun, community minded people who can open up to talk thru problems & sadness. Being like Steve as an adult is the end goal of Sesame Street ❤❤❤
I love your calm approach. Many travelling RUclipsrs come across waaaay too hyper. I tire of these guys very quickly. But you are very good at cultavating peace and serenity... Very enjoyable, thoughtful and informative. Thank you!
Great to see you back Steve. ❤AB
When i see houses like this, i always imaging when the foundation went down and how much love and excitement someone felt anticipating living inside. The momories they hadnt made yet and the good times people had inside. Now its just a shell of a time and people long forgotten.

I'd lovr to be in the 70s here. We're a sweat dripping 98 today. Ohhh the joy. Gotta love Cali.
Love how you said thanks old house. All these poor old houses are part of history. My dad bought a old house real wood in 1962 for $500. I was a baby. He used draft teams and neighbours teams to haul the one room house up the hill to the new foundation he built. He added on and on to it. Later sold it for $50,000. It’s still there with new windows and a wrap around porch. Folks had passed away all us kids are in our 60’s and 70’s now. Love seeing old houses.

So many awesome things we learned about Steve in this episode…
No fear of:
- Ghosts.
- Burning treated wood in a dilapidated fireplace.
Is afraid of:
- Old open wells.
- Crawling under dangerous buildings.
- Snitching in prison.
- Mice and Hantavirus.
- Climbing higher than eye level over nails.
- Molotov cocktails.
- Being embarrassed to seen with his sleeping bag out.
We should all try and be more like Steve!
And ducks!
Slippery leafy steps ✔️
and bears! don't forget bears!
LMFAO 😂

Steve, there is something about you well honestly multiple things about you that just bring comfort and calmness. Your channel has brought me peace in difficult times. Thank you for being you and bringing smiles to so many faces. You are truly a gem.
This episode brought back memories of my friends and I hanging out in the abandoned houses in Alberta growing up. We always talked about spending the night in one, but we never had enough courage to actually do it. I am glad I could watch you live the unfulfilled mission of my childhood. Please keep them coming, my family loves your videos.

I was a little concerned for your safety in this one Steve. Take care. We so enjoy going camping with ya
I love hearing the wind blow and the crisp leaves rustling in fall as they blow.
A hint to those entering wood structures where a door or window is gone: Take a long first step inside, as anything close to the wall may be soft or rotted from rain getting in.
“Don’t do what Steve does!” Classic Steve, I come for the camping but stay for the advice! 😂😂😂

11:45 - love that shot, Steve. The peace of a crisp autumn evening settling in, as the breeze picks up and the leaves hasten their fall.
Hell ya Steve!!! I’m so pumped you were able to get out and spend a night in that old cabin! Made my day to see that you were there!!!
Steve is like the Bob Ross of camping videos.

Exactly. That's a perfect description.
It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how far from civilization you try to get, there are always still people coming around
i know that was annoying the random people walking there
I no rite? I mean, here I was, at the bottom of a 3 mile deep well on the dark side of the Moon, that can only be accessed via an interdimensional portal that is hidden on an invisible island in the Bermuda Triangle, and I'm just tooling around trying to do some stealth camping, and this bloke shows up with a Canadian accent and an (obviously fake) traffic vest and a bunch of camping gear! WTH man?!?? It's just not right. Not right at all.

There's just something comforting about Steve and watching him do this. Whether it's simply having a step 2, cooking and just exploring. I tend to overthink as well and wonder about who all has been to these places before.
Steve is the best of what the internet has to offer, would love to spend a night stealth camping with him.
Of all the places you've camped, this one set off the NOPE bell the loudest. Still, having a storm come up in the night would add the extra layer of spookiness that such a place deserves. All in all, it felt like you were a great dane and a box of treats away from a real mystery!

Steve, when things are tough I watch your videos. You’re so damn calming and wholesome.

I gotta say, Steve. You look healthy and ready to take on life. I’ve seen many of these types of houses in my area I’d love to stay in, but no trespassing signs are all over. This is a new favorite.
I'm a bit of an abandoned building explorer myself, and I gotta say - Your rule of not climbing under houses that are held up by bricks is spot-on.

What's weird is that house was probably someone's love-of-their-life. They laid every brick, pounded every nail. How many loves and fights happened in those walls over the long years before they had to abandon it? Kinda sad to see it run down and torn apart. Whoever gave their time and love to build that place is probably long gone. Thanks Steve for sharing your experience!
