Camping In Abandoned Ghost Town Campground - Halloween Special

  • I took a beautiful wife with me and we found a ghost town to camp in that was actually called Steveville Alberta! We hunkered down with temperatures dropping to -16 Celsius or 3.2 Fahrenheit. Had some spooky dinner, some exploring, and lots of nice warm sleep. The area was close to dinosaur provincial park, and actually I think the campground was technically inside the park boundary. Happy Halloween!!

I do live alone but fortunately I do so entirely by choice. I value my free time and freedom. The main reason why I pause the video when Steve cooks is because the food talk and visual reminds me that I'm hungry so I get to fixing that. BERGY, it's all good bro, I figured that's what you meant. And Undisputed Jackhole, who made you the Gatekeeper of Camping? I watch this channel primarily because Steve seems like a cool dude, the nature scenes are just an additional draw. As far as I'm concerned the blow torch is a comedic prop.

Years ago when I was just a wee lad, I drove out to a Desert ghost town called Bodie.
It was just me and my dog, who’s name happened to be Bodie as well.
As night fell I cooked a meager meal and prepared to hunker down for the night while eating my dinner.
It was about this time that a dozen or so of my favorite coyote friends decided to try to share my dinner with me and my pup. It got really western, really quick.
Long story short, I finished my dinner on top of my landcruiser and we slept inside of it for the night.

One reason I like your videos Steve is your not vulgar. You don't feel the need to say a ton of profanity to make your videos interesting. I've never met a Canadian either and you represent your countrymen well. You guys have a reputation for being pretty chill and civil. I can really appreciate that in a person. I would love to visit Canada and camp in some of the wilderness up there but I live in the southern United States and that would be a trip I couldn't take on a carpenters pay. You just taught me something Steve. I didn't know Canada had dessert/badlands. I'm guessing it must be just north of the Dakotas here in the states? I stereotyped Canada like most Americans as a country made up of ice, snow, and woodlands with the occasional mountain range and a bunch of moose. Love the pumpkins! There is a place in north central Alberta called "Vilna" north of Edmonton that you should camp at sometime. They have a hotel in the downtown that half the town convenes at for breakfast. I joined them, eating eggs, potatoes and Canadian bacon. Vilna has a post office. When my parents were alive, I used to send them a postcard from every torwn I went to in the 26 countries I've ever visited. Vilna has an "old world" charm to it. You should go there for an overnight visit! My most memorable trip there was in late January, with an overnight temperature of negative 40° Fahrenheit. The snow "crunched" underfoot.
I got video of an unusually bright, super fast, flashy green and red display of Northern Lights which lasted about an hour.
The jackrabbits are as big as dogs up there, the heavy footed animals I heard turned out to be jackrabbits upon inspection with a flashlight.
I camped in a vehicle to avoid the snakes. I think there is ZERO criminal activity in that town, and everyone knows everybody.

Hey Steve! Love your videos, I've gotten a ton of good (stealthy) info from them!
With the Buddy Heaters, always use a filter when you hook up to a 20lb tank. There are weird plasticizers in the hoses that clogs the heater (might be the problem with the old one). Use a Buddy Hose to avoid the problem.
Cool connection: You mentioned you were a grave digger, I used to sell cemetery property a few years ago in California~
