I once was in a situation where I needed to find a spot to sleep for a night. I approached a police officer and asked if he knew of a place nearby that I could do so. He told me about a good place and told me that he would check up on me through the night so that nobody would bother me. Super kind cop.
A lot of cops really want the best for people, the few bad cops have made a horrible name for the word "Cop". iv met alot of really cool guys in the police force, I treat them all with the same respect that I would want to be treated as.
Ive worked along side LEO my whole life as a medic. They’re just like you and I. Of course there are a few “bad ones”. There are also a few “bad” nurses, firemen, teachers etc. It’s the PERSON that is bad. NOT the job they do. In general, people in That line of work want nothing more than to help people... more than the average person in fact. Everyday they wake up and put their life and emotional well being at risk. It’s just that cops are in a position of authority. When they get a bad apple, they stand out more. I won’t even say they cause more damage. Bad people that become nurses etc.. get away w more damage because the public is unsuspecting. No one believes, or wants to believe theres an “Angel of Mercy” doing Gods bidding until it’s too late. Everyone wants to hang cops out to dry. If anything, it’s gets them out of a ticket. Honestly, I’d be so scared to be a cop. Never knowing if pulling over a car to give a simple tail light out warning could be someone transporting drugs. Then they’re shot dead on the side of the road when all they were going to do was write WARNING... Merry Christmas!
Living rough back a few decades ago (after a couple deployments), was resting up in a culvert outside this small Wyoming town. Was discovered by a passing cop (who saw my light). I thought that was it. Asked me if I was okay. Said I was. He left. And came back with a thermos of coffee and a couple ham and cheese sandwiches. And sat with me for a while. We talked. He was a Vietnam vet. Not all cops are that good, but some are. Stay safe, Steve.
@@thekitchentable2205 I was into culvert diving back then. So when I watched Steve's culvert video I was reliving my first few forays into that. Oh the memories.
@@jacobpoucher The Saskatoon freezing deaths were a series of three deaths of Indigenous Canadians in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in the early 2000s, which were confirmed to have been caused by members of the Saskatoon Police Service. The police officers would arrest Indigenous people, usually men, for alleged drunkeness and/or disorderly behaviour, sometimes for reasons without cause. The officers would then drive them to the outskirts of the city at night in the winter, and abandon them, leaving them stranded in sub-zero temperatures. Please tell me more about how Canadian cops are somehow different. But wait, there's more: The practice was known as taking Indigenous people for "starlight tours" and dates back to 1976. As of 2021, despite convictions for related offences, no Saskatoon police officer has been convicted specifically for having caused freezing deaths.

I recently lost my wife to covid. Her and I watched you in our trailerhouse every week. Sadly, I am now living in a tent in Michigan and feeling more alone than ever, but, your show has reminded me of her and made me smile tonight... Thank you for that😊.. Have a wonderful Christmas my friend... 🎄...
I'm so sorry for your loss. I really hope everything works out for you. If there is anyone to take inspiration from, its Steve. Sending you good wishes and hope you have a good Christmas despite your recent struggles.
Calym Libelle, you are precious in Gods sight. He has weeped with you and understands your plight. On this day when things seems so dark, he can light your way. Just reach out to HIM and ask. He loves you and suffers with you but this can be your new beginning if you just allow it. Your loss and your struggle is felt by us as well. Reach out, ask for help, never give up! No, never give up because you have a great future ahead! Everything is changing fast, but maybe not fast enough for you right now. All dark clouds have a silver lining, just hold on and pray for help! You will be helped. I too have lost people that I loved. It was horrible. But I survived, and you can too! Times will be tough, but I’ll bet that you are much tougher than you ever imagined! You’ve got this! You’re better than this! You may be down, but your definitely not out! This is just a walk in the park for you! even if you see Steve pack up super fast and run like a girl! I’ve lived in a tent in the Midwest for 11 months and there were hard times but there were also times that boosted my confidence! You WILL get through this and it WILL make you stronger! Just look up for strength! HE can help! Be well, be safe, be kind, be brave, be strong, be long to HIM! YOU WILL SURVIVE THIS! I pray for God’s blessing on you and I also pray that you will see something unusual that tells you, “YOU ARE LOVED” and you matter to me! Be warm, be blessed, be safe!
Due to my work, I have seen people with active warrants who are less stressed than you are in the woods when you hear something or see someone. I love it. Thank you, Steve.
I read your comment about three weeks ago & have been laughing ever since. People are starting to look at me weirdly, my family tells me to stay home till I get past it! I’m a little worried but I’m okay. Thanks for a month of laughter, so far. Best comment ever.
The fact you always convert Celsius to Fahrenheit is just another strong indicator of how considerate you are of your amazing community, domestic and abroad!
I watch so many Canadian videos on LubeTube, I feel like I'm learning the Metric System by osmosis. I learned the basics of it in U.S. high school, but that was a while ago. LOL
@@dustinclouse6888 Set your phone to Celsius and you will learn it within a few weeks. That's what I did and now I know both. Celsius makes way more sense anyway.
There's an easy trick for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit. It's not completely accurate, but will get you within a few degrees. To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, just double it and add thirty. For example, 20C: (20 * 2 + 30) = (40 + 30) = 70F.
I was homeless in Holland in 2003 for the whole winter, but I did the double sleeping bag method under a set of stairs in minus 20° and if it started raining I had a tarp to cover myself under, and I still went to work gardening every day 🤗 I'm now living in London and watching this in my lovely double bed 🛏 but I've got my window wide open and the lovely cold air is blowing into my room making me feel nostalgic 😁 love your videos Steve, and there's nothing better than sleeping with the cold air swirling around you, have a cracking Christmas and New Year.
You can have all that cold. I spent almost 40 years in Michigan and Wisconsin. Never did I volunteer to camp out on Lake Michigan with the -40 to -65 F. wind chill. Say, Steve, why don't you go out on the northern shore of Lake Superior for a night? It tends to get a bit, uh, brisk in those parts, too.

In my Camping with Steve head canon, Steve’s arch nemesis is a mid-level RCMP officer who’s a real hardo. He watches Steve’s stealth camping videos, grinding his teeth and grumbling to himself as he gets angrier and angrier every week. This officer thinks that every view Steve gets is a slap in the face to himself and the entire RCMP. He has a big map of Canada on the wall behind his desk filled with pushpins charting his best guesses as to where Steve has camped so far and where he might go next. Worst of all in the mind of this hardo RCMP Officer is that his superiors have been ignoring his reports on Steve’s stealth camping activities for years now.
Well actually… There’s this other guy I watched, Brave Dave and he was doing a freight hopping video with the ambition of hopping all the way across Canada. He made it. Barely. But when he tried to enter Canada again, they turned him around at the border. Railroad bulls had seen the vids and put 2+2 together. Dave is PNG in Canada for like 10 years 🙄🤦🏻♂️

I was homeless years ago. I was not one of these guys who set up on the sidewalk . I would go waaaay back into the bushes and have a super clean stealth camp. Nevertheless it never ceased to amaze me how some A Hole would always find my spot eventually and trash my stuff. One time I was almost starving to death and came back to find some guy trashing all my stuff. I was literally too weak from hunger to fight. He eventually left but I thought he was going to get violent. I even had someone trash my spot on Christmas day once. You will never really understand people until you view them from the bottom of the human heap.
Where my sister lives you can be homeless anywhere so the story goes her husband's brother is an addict and homeless they camped in a wood lot between to housing developments and there stuff started to get wrecked (I should say the homeless people tried to hide and keep it clean other than buring trash and being addicts it was clean I've seen FB pics from the camp and it was ok) at first they thought it was other junkies but it was a little community group going in and wrecking there stuff to try to get rid of them they just didn't want them around and the cops wouldn't come throw them out so they took action first time both groups confronted each other a small fight happened resulted in one of them homeless having to go to the hospital for a broken nose next time they came in force about 5 and took everything and tried to throw it away one of the homeless called the cops who came and actually told the homeowners to give them there stuff last time they came took everything again the homeless called the cops they came this time they gave the homeowners a choice the 6 of them could take a theft charge or charges or the drugs/paraphernalia in the homeless people's stuff after alot of birching and one guy getting arrested they took the theft changes the cops said these people are trying to hide out of sight there has been no extra crime in the area and generally are clean there are alot worse people and that they should be lucky they don't have a worse problem from what I've been told the 5 who didn't get arrested got probation like 6 months the minimum the guy who got arrested and resisted arrest he got like a week in jail and a few years of probation it was an odd situation but it turned out ok still my sister-in-law brother isn't ready to get clean but he is off the heroin and fentanyl thanks to Suboxone but can't kick the meth and crack side of the addiction yet

The guy who came at me when I was starving was obviously very wealthy. He probably could have bought me a house and not even noticed the money missing from his bank account. Steve, you are an inspiration. Three and a half years ago I lost my wife, heart failure diagnosed 17 years before but due to a chest infection in late 2017 which made the issue much worse she passed away in June 2018 aged 67..Since then I have suffered with complicated grief, ptsd , anxiety and depression. This year is the fourth Christmas without her, the previous 3 I have put her decorations up but this year I just wasn't feeling it so I haven't bothered. Christmas is on my own but I have a roof and warmth and some food and internet for company..I watch all of your videos, look forward to them every week..Listening to you saying about the homeless and donating to charities , food banks etc reminded me that one year my wife donated so that a homeless person could have a bed for the night, showers, clean clothes, haircut and a warm bed for the night and I thought what could I do, sitting here with very little money I realised I had 2 flasks, a very big one and a smaller one and enough money to buy some biscuits and cheap mince pies. I dug out a couple of jackets and jumpers I no longer wear and went out on the streets. it took a while but eventually I found 3 homeless people that drank all the coffee and took the food and clothing from me and thanked me very much. I was out about 3 hours..I am going to do it again and again. You inspired me to do that Steve, thank you my virtual friend.
Straight lines draw the eye of humans especially when they are parallel to the ground. Straights and 90 degree angles are very rare in nature. Learned this from years of hunting on public lands. Turkey or deer don't care, but make the edge jagged or curved if you don't want to be seen as easily by other "hunters". Also, If your blind edge had been closer to ground level it would helped as well by allowing ground cover to break up the edge. Especially in a high contrast black and white environment.
Was thinking the exact same thing, been hunting for years and I’m a huge camo freak. As soon as I seen him put the sheets up high and perfectly level it made me cringe

Def was a house cat prior in some regard. Had a barn cat years ago, it hid in the walls of our house and me and my brother had to open the door and set up the couches so when it escaped it could only run outside, it did and was never seen again.
I just love that he named the cat garbage, makes me laugh every time he calls him garbage. I had a dog i named pony boy from the outsiders, but garbage topped that for sure.
Only 1 tip on the camo netting: if you can have the netting on the side of the tree you're trying to hide stuff on, then the tree's silhouette won't give it away by suddenly poking out from a white box, at least from that side of the net.
The fact that you took in Garbage the Cat, got him to a vet, and gave him a loving, safe and warm place to live has touched my heart. I am the proud momma to four rescued ladycats myself. Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and Beautiful Wife!! See you next year!!
Oh man. I knew right when you were dropped off that it was very risky. There are always people peeking out their windows and keeping watch in places like that.
I love the urgency Steve has when the situation looks like it might be compromised! The reality is at this point in his YT career he could easily explain what he's doing and back up his story with a successful YT channel. Bumping into Steve during a stealth camp would be like running into Big foot. I love it Steve! You're the best
See, now when you told us about that first date, everyone's gonna want to know how that went down. I guess you just backed into a corner, no hunkering down from this one! :P
He told the story in one of the early episodes. Turns out he ran into an ex girlfriend on his first date with beautiful wife she's obviously a keeper since she agreed to see him again lol.
I gotta say - as a fan of Steve this was the riskiest of all Steve's videos. I have woods behind my house, and when you're really, really familiar with them you notice even the smallest difference and in the winter even more so. Someone taking out the trash and hearing talking - and the snow makes even the lowest light really bright. Glad it didn't turn out badly. But I also must say - if Steve were to get busted at some spot like behind a road sign or some other "public" place, he really could (and should) play the "I'm a photographer and youtuber who does these things for a living" card and he may well avoid any legal trouble. But this one was dicey from the start..
We are actually starting to sell Steve Finders in most stores in Canada. It is a can of beer that when you open it, says "Now, time for a Step Two!" Guaranteed to catch a Camping Steve 90% of the time. If not, you drink it anyway, and are still pretty happy!
I mean, there's a really good chance the guy who initially spotted you told his next door neighbor "I know you're going to think I'm nuts, but I think Steve Wallis is hunkering down in my back yard". They grabbed step twos and ran back... But Steve was already gone. With a twinkle in his eye and a slight grin... Steve said "see you on Thursdays my friends" as he sped off in beautiful wife's suv. They came THAT close... Epic Christmas story Steve! ❄💚❤❄
Only found this gem of a channel in the last couple of weeks and I've been binge watching ever since. Steve seems like a truly genuine and humble guy and the videos are so wholesome, it feels like you're watching your friend. Merry Christmas Steve and here's to many more step twos!🍻
I don't think many people really realize just how easily sound travels through the woods, especially at night during the winter, when there's no trees and grass rustling to cover it up. If the wind is blowing right, you can easily hear someone talking at a normal volume from a kilometer away. Stay safe, buddy. We don't want the next stealth camping video to be from the inside of a jail cell.
Me and my friends used to hangout and do teenager activities is the woods behind a buddies house. It was one night when I was walking out to them and could hear just how loud we were on an average night. The fact police never got called still bewilders me.
@@tobiaspatterson4457 It's a lot easier to just not have to explain it to the police lol... 100% chance you won't go to jail if you don't have to deal with the police.

Had a similar experience, my young son and I got stuck in a blizzard, no hotels, had to sleep in the van for the night. A very nice cop brought us to a safe spot to park and checked on us several times during the night. Very nice of him.
Id definitely love to see more of the failed attempts, gives us viewers a better look at what it's actually like trying and failing from time to time 👍
Maybe a failed camping compilation, I assume there isn't much content from those but perhaps enough to edit together a few into a video where we can see how things go when he gets caught.
When camping in snowy conditions you need to keep your camp as low profile as possible. Your snow camo blind was too high and had too many straight lines to the horizon. Light displicine is also a must because the least bit of light in clear snow conditions travel a long way and is brighter than spring, summer and fall. Also it seems that sound travels better in snowy nights because the lack of other background noises like bugs, birds and road traffic. I myself am glad that you didn't end up in someone's basement putting lotion on your skin 😉

I love how Steve's first inclination upon seeing the man with the flashlight is to immediately start making tons of noise and shoving his gear into his bag. Never change, bud!
It goes with the theme I guess. Most of his "Stealth" camping videos, he lights camp up like a stadium, talks at or near conversation levels, barely goes deep enough into the woods and makes his camp 2.5 meters tall 🤦♂ I love his content, but you want to strangle him half the time with the whole "stealth" nonsense lmfao
Hey Steve thanks again for venturing out into the cold for us unfortunately things do happen people around there in that ritzy neighborhood maybe have had issues in the past so are on the lookout. i can understand why you would leave . in all started out good . hope you and beautiful wife, Garbage have a wonderful Christmas and healthy safe New Year. I appreciate your efforts for a Stealth camp out. I must say The kitty looks very content and nice it chose you two for it's family.
Getting out of there was almost certainly the smart move. Flashlight dude was unquestionably looking for you, and it is probably enough, seeing that, to think it is not worth the risk if that cop car you passed on the way out. It was still some good drama seeing the set up and tear down, so I think you accomplished your usual mission of making a good stealth camping video, even if you only barely got to the camping part. Also, it is kinda ballsy to try it near residential areas to begin with. I know you usually have good luck on that front, but that will have to run out eventually. I'm still waiting for you to revisit the culvert idea. I know the last one was a disaster, but now that you know what to expect, perhaps you can mitigate some of the issues you found in that big steel tunnel. Maybe going and getting some moving blankets/furniture pads and hauling those there, to act as walls held up by neodymium magnets to stop the wind tunnel effect, and if there is room, that cot-tent inside all of that to try to stop the metal from absorbing all the ambient heat, is something you could try. I likewise think it would be cool to see you buy some ad time on one of those billboards, with your face on it asking people to donate to charities, while you camp behind it and film a video. You'd be doing some good charity stuff and spreading out good cheer and the spirit of giving, all while creating your own version of a Steveception.

The adrenaline rush from the suspense of getting caught stealth camping is worth it . The looks you got from the lady walking the dog near the end must have been priceless.
I might not be as worried like Steve is, but seriously, if someone is going to bust you, what are they really going to do? At the very least, probably say something or tell you get out of here, or just walk by as if they didn't see anything in teh first place. Growing up in Michigan, I used to hate what I called “crunchy snow”. Once it gets so cold out that the moisture is gone from the snow and it sounds like walking on styrofoam. The only issue is his slight paranoia about getting caught. It is kinda exaggerated. I mean, he would be facing a fine of maybe 2-300 Dollars for illegal camping (easily paid from the beer donation fund). Nobody would cut of his arms or throw him into jail. Let's be serious.

Merry Christmas and thanks for the stealth camp videos. I remember when I was homeless and stealth camping in 2011 and 2012, I remember a few times when the cops actually caught me in my camping spot. I don't know how maybe someone nosey must have called them. Probably it was because my spots were too close to town. Likely you would want to be at least a mile away from any house or business. That's one thing to keep in mind that I learned from this video is that if you are stealth camping in a wooded area and you see someone shine a flashlight right right at your spot, then that's a pretty big sign that you've been detected and would be best to leave the area as quick as you can.

Two things that may be helpful to know: 1) SOME sort of shelter overhead, even if it's just a shower curtain, reflects heat back down to you that would otherwise be radiated off into space. That's why the coldest nights have clear skies - they let the heat radiate away. A white or light colored cover is best, but even sheltering under an evergreen tree will help. 2) If you feed a stray cat, it's yours. It's a law of nature.
The problem with that is the condensation. If I go camping in the uber-cold and I put my rainfly on the tent, I wake up and everything around my face is icy.
Still here @19:48 Steve. Not bragging. Just letting you know that your fans, (at least me) love your channel and the videos you put up! Life throws us curveballs, and you dodged a hell of a curveball. Glad you made it out safely without running into the cops, or a psycho axe murderer! Happy holidays, and happy anniversary Steve and Beautiful Wife!💞
You have a welcome talent to entertain us Steve! This was not a fail at all. You successfully captured the intensity of the moment. We are kept on the edge of our seat by the flashlight beams streaming through the cammo netting behind you, dramatically adding fear and excitement to your tenuous situation. And, as always your sense of humour is refreshing. Thanks for another great video Steve.
I’m a big fan of your camping expeditions… This one had my adrenaline rising as you were packing it up. I started camping as a kid with my family, continued the adventures with my kids as a single parent. Met a guy who liked to camp, and we have gradually gone from sleeping under the starts, tent, and now RV camping. Thank you for the eggnog chat at the end, Garbage, and the explanation of Celsius and Fahrenheit. Peace out.👏🏻
Another good night in my tent in Utah watching a camping with Steve video. Thanks Steve for giving me something to look forward to weekly as Ive been hiking across America. I probably have another 8 more videos to go and I'll be finished my hike
Got my heart going watching that light shine through the woods. They definitely had an idea something or someone was in there. Great video Steve. Enjoy Christmas with Beautiful wife.
This is a particularly relevant video. Your stealth camping inadvertently highlights the pligth of the homeless, and has prompted a discussion on police abuses (taking indians to the outskirks of town on bogus intoxicated charges, and allowing them to freeze to death) and police altruism (the comment about the vet living in a culvert a cop catching him, asking about his status and bringing him back food and coffee because the cop was a fellow vet) So your videos serve a greater public good, besides allowing the audience to live vicariously through your adventures. You're a rare gem, Steve. Please keep it up.
You may look on it as a fail but in my opinion it's a good insight into how rough sleepers find it hard to find nightly shelter. You surely deserved your step two this time. Merry Christmas to you, your beautiful wife and family.
every once in a while its healthy to dip into off topic things like the end of this video. You stay on the main focus on the channel quite well. its like when people order their favorite dish at their favorite restaurant and once in a while try something new but ends up being quite tasty but with your channel, we tried something new and don't regret it.
I live in the Seattle area and there is nothing unique about camping in residential areas. If the cops do show up, they will bring resources to make sure you have all the equipment and food you need for the night. Merry Christmas Steve, Beautiful Wife, Garbage, and Crazy Neighbor

Seeing you kicking back, warm and comfortable with your loved ones seems like a success to me, just sayin. There's always another adventure waiting in the wings. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks Steve, you make uncomfortable fun.

It's always entertaining to see you in panic mode, Steve. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, Beautiful Wife, Crazy Neighbor, and Garbage! And everyone else too. Hunker down!
That's a great outlook for how grateful to be for what you have because others have it worse. Others don't have a warm house or a toilet. Good time of year to reflect on important ideals.
Everyone please have a safe and sane step 2 this year, and spread some random kindness, even if it's just a kind word, it's catchy and may mean alot to some people. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!🍸🎅🍸
Taking a walk out in this weather is my favorite for a couple of reasons. You could take a walk out in the dead of night and it'd still be relatively bright out. The other reason is that it's as quiet as you're ever going to get. You could hear people talking from several yards away. All that being said, damn, are the chips stacked against you if you're trying to Stealth Camp in these conditions Steve.
You had me on the edge of my seat!!. I wanted to turn down the volume on my tv just so you were quieter and no one would find you! Thanks for the heart pounding episode. If they had arrested you, you know there would have been thousands of us marching and protesting!! Have a very Merry Christmas Steve. Thanks for "normal" in crazy times....Looking forward an exciting 2022 of with our friend Steve!!
Steve buddy, I've found that the thin bag outside works better for me. Maybe bcoz it shelters the exterior of my down bag from the icy air which would reduce its ability to loft. I've found that even a sleeping bag stuffed inside a liner has noticeably boosted warmth. Good luck buddy, stay safe, and keep those videos coming.
They came back like bruh… I swear to god I heard the “camping with steve guy” .. his buddy like come on man lets go. Your drunk. Hes like. Yeah. Maybe your right. Steve flips and bails lol
I've had a tough life too buddy, and no one warned our generation, the sheer disproportionate amount of loss we would face in such a short time. I find watching your videos quite relaxing, and I do enjoy your stories, they are therapeutic and reaffirming. Good Luck, Brother.
Some people really just have nothing better to do with their lives I guess, even during these busy holidays. How sad! Glad you always have a good time and a positive outlook.
Love from NC. Coolest dude on RUclips I have literally watched EVERY video he's uploaded...boondock'n, gold panning, testing tents in the backyard. Steve is awesome
Steve doesn't realize how much he helps and inspires people, way beyond "camping"!. He recently took time to personally respond via email and talk with me about the current trial in life I'm going through. Steve is one of the rare GOOD ones
Awww so sweet, you were in jail. A nice story with a happy ending since you're out now, I hope :)

Canadian cops are alot different. This isn't the USA freedom
But wait, there's more:
The practice was known as taking Indigenous people for "starlight tours" and dates back to 1976. As of 2021, despite convictions for related offences, no Saskatoon police officer has been convicted specifically for having caused freezing deaths.

There's an easy trick for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit. It's not completely accurate, but will get you within a few degrees. To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, just double it and add thirty. For example, 20C: (20 * 2 + 30) = (40 + 30) = 70F.
I was homeless in Holland in 2003 for the whole winter, but I did the double sleeping bag method under a set of stairs in minus 20° and if it started raining I had a tarp to cover myself under, and I still went to work gardening every day 🤗

I dug out a couple of jackets and jumpers I no longer wear and went out on the streets. it took a while but eventually I found 3 homeless people that drank all the coffee and took the food and clothing from me and thanked me very much. Guess what buddy. No one really cares and your so concerned about how it makes u feel how u think ur dead wife feels??
Also, any appreciable amount of light will turn that camo screening into a big, glowing rectangle for anyone to notice.

Only 1 tip on the camo netting: if you can have the netting on the side of the tree you're trying to hide stuff on, then the tree's silhouette won't give it away by suddenly poking out from a white box, at least from that side of the net.

I gotta say - as a fan of Steve this was the riskiest of all Steve's videos.

@@jamesonlucky7360 Let's hope they didn't set up cameras to spy on you guys
You wouldn't be taken into jail, just explain what your doing to the cop and they will be okay.
@@tobiaspatterson4457 It's a lot easier to just not have to explain it to the police lol... 100% chance you won't go to jail if you don't have to deal with the police.
Actually I'd really enjoy a stealth camping video from inside a jail cell. Sounds awesome! 🤣
Thank you Steve for taking time out of your day and uploading this video for all of us a few days before Christmas. We appreciate you! More then you know. Everyone who’s reading this; Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and don’t forget to smile.
:)
Merry Christmas bro!
The whole idea behind a stealther is to not get caught. Excellent extraction. Merry Christmas to all.
Steve not getting busted is good and Steve getting busted could be amusing but Steve almost getting busted and freaking out is GOLD.
Had a similar experience, my young son and I got stuck in a blizzard, no hotels, had to sleep in the van for the night. A very nice cop brought us to a safe spot to park and checked on us several times during the night. Very nice of him.
Id definitely love to see more of the failed attempts, gives us viewers a better look at what it's actually like trying and failing from time to time 👍
agreed
Maybe a failed camping compilation, I assume there isn't much content from those but perhaps enough to edit together a few into a video where we can see how things go when he gets caught.
Agreed, and though it may sound harsh, perhaps a confrontation where you act like hobo that's been caught. Maybe the "finder" will go away 🙂👍
Maybe a fail overall, but his stealthy getaway is a testament to Steve's prowess.
Merry Christmas everyone! Time to hunker down and watch some Camping with Steve! 🎄❄🏕
Merry Xmas!!
It’s not snowing where I am so this video will do lmao 🤣
Merry Christmas 😁
Fuck Christmas!!!!
Merry Christmas
When camping in snowy conditions you need to keep your camp as low profile as possible. Your snow camo blind was too high and had too many straight lines to the horizon. Light displicine is also a must because the least bit of light in clear snow conditions travel a long way and is brighter than spring, summer and fall. Also it seems that sound travels better in snowy nights because the lack of other background noises like bugs, birds and road traffic. I myself am glad that you didn't end up in someone's basement putting lotion on your skin 😉
Bet the cops would let Steve go after an explanation but his anxiety makes these vids even more exciting. 🤣
If it was private property, it would be up to the property owner whether or not to press charges.
@@Andy-df5fj lol even if property owner wanted to press charge. Press charge about trespassing. I wouldn't even care. Steve's got a million subscribers for doing that kind of thing and he's such a "good guy"...that wouldn't scared me if I was him. There's real illegal stuff going on. Judge would be laughing once back home and that case wouldn't be a big deal. I've been stealth camping for over 10 years in way worse places and situations. Been caught and never had problems. If Steve would've been caught and keep is mood chill, explain the truth, that he's a youtuber doing that for a living, he would've been asked either to pack out and leave or he would have gain a subscriber

this reminds me of when we were kids. at night in the winter we'd sneak around the neighborhood, hiding behind snow drifts and trees.. not doing anything but just trying to hide when a car would come by. i'm sure we were not stealthy AT ALL lol.
Me too. I was siting there like hopefully if someone sees him they’ll think he’s a kid playing haha
So happy that you adopted Garbage! And thank you for directing donations to charity efforts. A lot of people in my college town recently lost their homes, so I have been more aware of those kinda issues, so it makes me really happy that you are bringing attention to those issues. Merry Christmas Steve and Company!

As much as I’d wanna believe it the chance of 1 guy camping somewhere behind your house when he goes across the country is so astronomically low no one’s taking that chance😂
Do you remember building forts as kids and hiding inside them? Steve is the embodiment of that. :)
I was onto my ninth episode of stealth camping when out of the blue I heard somebody crack a beer open underneath my couch.
I always wondered how an aborted stealth camp situation would play out. This one was fascinating. Also, you got adopted by that cat. That's just how they operate. Thank you for giving him a good home. My three rescue cats say hello!
I was thinking you'd unpack and stay after things quieted down and the people went back home. My heart was racing and you had me on the edge of my seat, when you took off in such a hurry. I can't lie, I was relieved to see you back home safe and sound. Sleeping under the stars in those conditions really freaks me out. I've had frost bite a number of times and its no fun being that cold.
The crunching of the snow is the best! Merry Xmas Steve. ❄🎄⛺
I love how Steve's first inclination upon seeing the man with the flashlight is to immediately start making tons of noise and shoving his gear into his bag. Never change, bud!
It goes with the theme I guess. Most of his "Stealth" camping videos, he lights camp up like a stadium, talks at or near conversation levels, barely goes deep enough into the woods and makes his camp 2.5 meters tall 🤦♂
I love his content, but you want to strangle him half the time with the whole "stealth" nonsense lmfao
Not every camping trip is perfect and I'm glad you show the ones that aren't. Not everything in life is perfect so it's more realistic.
Whats the big deal about the cops showing up? Surely your not doing anything wrong?
Think the cops would still have to ticket him for alcohol container. Yet it’s not like he has a six pack right? In any case God Bless Steve, lovely wife, crazy neighbor and our new fur ball Garbage!
@@elizabethapfelbaum1240 ticket him for the alcohol container? Is it a crime to drink alcohol in the woods? In built up public areas I would say fair enough but in the woods? Also he could easily hide the container in his backpack. What grounds would they have for a search?

The adrenaline rush from the suspense of getting caught stealth camping is worth it . The looks you got from the lady walking the dog near the end must have been priceless.
I didn't see a lady with a dog?
@@ST-ej9bt @21:17 he speaks of it.
I might not be as worried like Steve is, but seriously, if someone is going to bust you, what are they really going to do? At the very least, probably say something or tell you get out of here, or just walk by as if they didn't see anything in teh first place.
Mind you, I've been busted a couple times in the past for doing some odd camp outs, and I've had all 3 happen to me.. Wouldn't really say it's a big deal.

Merry Christmas, Steve. Thank you for camping out in this weather for our benefit.
Growing up in Michigan, I used to hate what I called “crunchy snow”. Once it gets so cold out that the moisture is gone from the snow and it sounds like walking on styrofoam. I still get goosebumps when I walk in it. I have been in Texas for almost 14 years now so I don’t get to experience it too often anymore.
The sound of the crunchy snow in Steve’s videos always makes me shiver,!

Steve, videos like this are just fine. Honestly you just sitting there and talking about camping, or anything really, is good for me!

Here for the rambling. Garbage and eggnog included, the stealth camping is bonus. Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing your adventures Steve!
first video I've watched of you steve and let me tell you I've never been more intrigued about a strangers apartment, cat, or glass of eggnog. You've earned my subscription.
Two things that may be helpful to know:
1) SOME sort of shelter overhead, even if it's just a shower curtain, reflects heat back down to you that would otherwise be radiated off into space. That's why the coldest nights have clear skies - they let the heat radiate away. A white or light colored cover is best, but even sheltering under an evergreen tree will help.
2) If you feed a stray cat, it's yours. It's a law of nature.
Is condensation an issue? Thx
The problem with that is the condensation. If I go camping in the uber-cold and I put my rainfly on the tent, I wake up and everything around my face is icy.
No, you are ITS.
I was thinking he could have used some bubble wrap 😂
Lol , space🤣

You have a welcome talent to entertain us Steve! This was not a fail at all. You successfully captured the intensity of the moment. I love it Steve, anxious, stress, suspicion great video. I'm REALLY GLAD you didn't get caught. Love you and praying for you Steve.
