"'Oh! Darling' was a great one of Paul's that he didn't sing too well. I always thought I could have done it better - it was more my style than his. He wrote it, so what the hell, he's going to sing it." - John .... oh john would've killed this song! 💛

paul wrote the song as a way to express his confession to john - unspeakable things he wants to say to john that can only be delivered in a song, makes it more clear and understandable why paul didnt want anybody to sing it but him

@@shutupandmakemeasandwich6991 There is a recording on Anthology where Lennon sings a couple of the verses. It sounds great and is very natural for Lennon to sing. I think Paul did a very good job on the album, but for Lennon it was effortless and sounded wonderful.

They didn't even laugh about it: this kind of things happened very often in studios and alive...

Paul McCartney always was the first one in the studio when they were recording, "Oh Darling." He always sung it once, then he waited until the next day to sing it again because then it would not get old and he waited until the perfect take, that's how the album version was made!

Paul does do many voices, but quite a few of them I don't like. He had to wear out his voice to pull off this song, but he did pull it off in the end. I think he should have stuck with his good voices and not messed around with the rest, but I guess I'll give him credit for taking chances.

Try finding studio Hendrix; His estate(mostly his sister) hardly allows anyone to use his music. you can find Hey Jude and Yesterday with no problem. But try to access The Beatles video of Oh! Darling & it's nowhere to be found.
I would think that Paul McCartney & Ringo would like fans to view their music videos.
Maybe it has something to do with John's estate?

The difference is most of what the Beatles wrote was timeless, while Madonna's efforts are dated. They didn't perform 60's standards, they created their own sound, they have such a repertoire,(their own stuff not covers) you could listen for days and not hear the same song twice. They are so diverse in their genres you can hear a song and not realize it's the Beatles, or that it was recorded fifty years ago. They in no way produced 60's standards, but they did set a standard no one else can touch.

@beatlestoneful That is definitely Paul from the Let it Be sessions. During the month of January 1969 Paul recorded at least 10 different versions of Oh Darling. If you are familiar with the Let it Be sessions then you would recognize the sound of these endless Beatle jams. Hundreds of songs over twenty days according to the book "The unreleased Beatles" by Ritchie Unterberger. It's a great reference book, I highly recommend it for any true Beatles fan.

It would be great if we could get a collection of outtakes put together with Paul's stamp of approval so we could see how the Beatles evolved songs towards their final cuts. But when you get them from underground sources you can't trust what you are getting and you may be obfuscating the matter and confusing yourself more than gaining illumination.

I can't believe you just said that Madonna wrote like these guys. I have studied music for a while now. I can tell you that the Beatles' music is some of the most complex and genius music ever written. Maybe even more genius than Mozart or Beethoven. The Beatles did so much in the few years they were together that you can teach a whole class about their music. Madonna only wrote catchy, pop songs. Pop songs are made to be catchy for more sells. Pop songs die out. The Beatles don't.

The significance and soul of "Hello Goodbye", to me, is an invitation to the sunny side of things. With upbeat tempo and lyrics, the song spreads smiles by saying "Hello" to ALL people in a way that is friendly but not so nerdy or weird. It ought to be noticed that the Beatles played their instruments and wrote their songs in addition to singing them.
Do not spread such false information about the Beatles. You will regret it.

Two thirds through this recording it stops sounding like them at all. What's the source of these audio tapes? The backup voice in particular does not sound like John in the least. How can you verify it's them?

This clip may not be at proper speed, but this is indeed them. One of the many messing around takes from the Let It Be sessions. The confusion lies in Paul's voice, but for the actual take, Paul arrived early and proceeded to blow out his voice so he could achieve that gravelly grumbling blues effect which if you noticed, he has rarely ever used since, except for Monkberry Moon Delight. It is not a natural voice for him so on this light hearted rehearsal sounds weak at that range. My 2 cents.

We ( my mom and me) try not to use medicine too much. They stopped mostly once I became a teenager, now I only get them if I get dehydrated or forget to eat. Loud noises will make them worse, but techno or euro brings them on for me. I don't go to school dances because of headaches - they play the worse music.
