As someone trying to get into saltwater coming from the world of heavily planted freshwater, these macroalgae tanks are exactly what I needed to convince me that saltwater doesn't have to be just boring/repetitive coral arrays + fish. I love the corals and fish, but macroalgae all feels so much more alive.
@@bretthousman8317 Reefs are definitely not boring, but it's nice to spice things up a bit because they aren’t the only kind of marine tank that is possible.
Men… this video made my day! I keep freshwater planted taks right now only running 3 of them but couple months ago I had 7 all UNS crystal clear low iron glass (cubes, shallow etc) all of them on different models twinstar lights. I was sure that going into hobby of saltwater gonna be expensive as hell but I’m already have everything I need. So let’s go! Thanks for great video and inspiration for next phase of my aquarium hobby!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE PUPPIES! I alsop just got a dog named Luna so much love and good memories ahead of you! I have been enjoying the interview videos alot as well. Keep up the great work Remy!
I love that you got to video this and hearing tiga talk about his tanks, and the way the two shallows form a bigger scape and piece being close together!
Cool tank tour! It was interesting to hear Dennis talk about his tanks, lighting, supplementation, maintenance, and filtration. Thank you for taking the time to treat us to a behind-the-scenes look at where all his awe-inspiring photos are made.
Thanks for the video! Loved it, Tigahboy's tanks are inspiring, I have been struggling and learning about growing macroalgae with my own experimentation.
Respect for the salt water panda mollie in the grow out- I have a 10 gallon “experiment tank” to see what random hitchhikers appeared from some live rock, and my panda mollie is a micro algae eating machine but leaves the macro alone
As a guy who has both a reef tank and a freshwater planted tank i just want to say… i hate u!!! Lol im going to have to get a new tank now. Damn that guys scape skills are on point!
@@BahamaLlamaCoral Hi Sir congratulations very nice and beautiful setups and aquarium. Can you please precise to us the type of Lights you use? Thank you in advance
Hey Remy, I’m going to be at aquashella Chicago (my girlfriend is the mermaid at the event) and I was wondering what I gotta do to get ahold of a frag of that weeping willow toadstool? Big fan of the page, great stuff as always!
I wonder if it is possible to keep Amano shrimp (C. multidentata) in a macroalgae tank. Yes I know they are considered and sold as a fresh water species. But people do raise them in captivity, and they require salt water conditions. Once adapted to fresh water, they do not tolerate salt water again. However, it may be possible to raise the larvae almost to adulthood or even adulthood under salt water conditions...
Well on German RUclips an aquascaper will scape a macroalgae tank soon... like in the next months I guess.. If you want to check out search just after @Aquaowner 👌👌
Saved him from Petco. Was gonna go to Exotic A.R.C. but they had this dude on sale for 50% off because it was an adult. Super healthy, docile...love the lil guy.
IMO classic reef tanks are boring! They all look the same, the overly blue lights make everything look like tacky glow sticks but this! This convinced me to set up a saltwater.

Same. Corals are beautiful but I dislike how neon they are.
@@snekysneks They aren't neon if you don't turn your light on insanely blue
I'm a planted tank enthusiast but I would never consider a reef tank or corals "boring."
I think the arrays you are talking about are tanks made specifically to culture coral, they are not display tanks.
@@bretthousman8317 Reefs are definitely not boring, but it's nice to spice things up a bit because they aren’t the only kind of marine tank that is possible.

Totally agree! The mollies really keep the macroalgae clean.
Mollies are undervalued in the saltwater hobby. They can keep the nutrients up and the algae down.
What an amazing collection of tanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Would love an update on your tanks remy! Great vid 👌
Coming soon!

Hm. I got a twinstar 300sa left over from some freshwater aquascape. Wonder if itd be good for macroalgae
Sounds like it might be time for another build!
@@BahamaLlamaCoral xD im just now getting the last piece of gear for my first saltwater aquarium. But really the builds never end
I'm wondering if you can just use water from a reef tank durring water changes in order to supply the algea with nutrients..
Can you keep corals together with macro algae?
Yep!
👍 nice, thanks for sharing. My friend #spicyreef needs help with macro algae in Seattle… where can I get some for him?
That's a good question! Hit up Dennis on IG!
Hey man! where are ya! its been 2 months! we miss you
What supplements do you use for the tanks
SEATTLE!!!!!
Aquarium light can use freswater light?
surely some more zoa vids soon :)
what is he using as an overflow box for the tanks that dont hhave filter chambers ?
Does mexican turbo snail eat macros? I just got this codium and it’s beautiful like a sea sponge
They do, but Codium is fairly inedible compared to other macroalgae.
Where did you get the leopard gecko from in the area?

where is the nest site to buuy different kinds of macro algae like this ?
What would be the right Iron levels in the water ?
It is 'refugium' display tank.
