Hey jano! I really appreciate the in depth analysis and explanation you gave in your review! As far as my measurement of the diameter, I’m not sure how accurate it is as I used digital calipers and that isn’t the most accurate form of measurement as it can slightly crush the braid a bit. PS holy crap nice knots!!! Keep up the awesome/informative reviews my friend!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for the feedback Peter! Wasn’t sure about The best way to measure. I have a set of digital calipers, but mine are far from accurate on stuff this small. Always appreciate your interaction!
hi - i discovered your channel by accident. i like your in depth reviews. as your newest subscriber hopefully you do not let your low number of subscribers discourage your future efforts. perhaps you should consider rebranding your channel to bfs light tackle lure angling. i think lots of viewers search for bfs in the search bar. keep the great content coming. - eric hillesland
Yooooo, this video actually popped up in my feed and I didn't know who it was/wasn't subbed. Then I saw it in the group. Spools are very bulky looking, you would think they would want to streamline it. I guess they are using the same spools for the heavy 300yd lines. Kairiki is popular in Australia, probably second to J Braid. I hope handing being out some nicer colour, I have had dark green lines and perhaps they are optimal to reduce visibility to fish but I'd prefer to use long leader and have a more visible and sexier looking line.
Yeah, it would be good to have a few colour options. This was my first muted colour for bfs use, and like you, I prefer to see my braid a little better. On occasion I have spooked fish in clear water with bright line, so having a muted one in the arsenal can be useful. I can see why Kairiki is popular, I’ve been using it for a few years. Almost no fade and very strong for its rating, but like many “American” braids, it’s a little thicker for the same rating. The only negatives I can mention about it is the loose weave. Works well on BFS. Didn’t love it on my spinning reels as the slightly larger diameter costs you distance there.
Low diameters is great but where dose it break above or below the line LB rating . I had low diameter mono off AliExpress in the past claiming it's a high Lb low diameter and breaks well below the specified weight sometimes as low a half what's stated on the spool 🤔
The PE 0.6 I tested is rated for 10lb. That is somewhat conservative for a 0.12mm braid, as most PE 0.6 braids are rated for 11-13lb. I'm confident in saying I'm sure it'll do the rated 10lb. When doing the multiple knots for comparison I tensioned them very well. It'll likely do that with knots.
That idea of spooling a little of the fresh braid next to the used line is a great idea to demonstrate the discolouration. Really great video my man.

Thinner diameter is more smooth casting
