I am a fishing tackle designer in China. Those items featured in this video are actually overpriced for the quality. The hard lures and spinner baits retails around 40 cent each in China, while the soft lures are not sold in packs but sold according to the total weight which cost much cheaper than the price mentioned in the video. The soft lures sold in China are usually of much smaller size than the lures sold in the US because it was designed to catch smaller largemouth bass in commercial ponds using super finesse technique. The clothes retails for around 10 USD in china and i can't comment on the rod and reel combo because those aren't sold in China. They are probably much cheaper here. I think what you guys are missing is the middle and top end fishing rods that are designed and produced in China. Those are the real deal: very top end quality similar if not better than shimano poison ultima series for usually about half or a third in price. The trend here is about affordable luxury rod instead of dirt cheap low end rods. The lures market is still dirt cheap since they are considered expandable. Most people here don't mind burning through 10-20 hard lures per fishing trip. They are that cheap.
wow, thanks for this post. have you heard about the Mifine company and what do you think of their rods? If so, can you comment on their MIFINE UNSTOPPABLE SPIN 30T UL rod? Thx
@@ivanvedris9636 I am not aware of the mifine brand. It could be from one of the factories that have subbrands for overseas market. Hi Joe, I want thanks you for this video, this is actually the kind of videos i like to watch. Why? Because this is a kind of challenge to fish with random / cheap gears. As you speak in a completely understandable manner without an accent, I can understand and this is a completely appreciable plus for a non-English speaking person like me, a little Frenchman who learned English on his own. I hope that you will do more equipment testing soon, perhaps with fewer parts to test, perhaps simply baits so as not to have to make a long presentation of equipments. Thank you very much, and good luck to you.
Yeah it's cheap enough that I wasn't worried about trying it out even if some of the gear was no good. But most of it was decent, except the craws and the braid
I bought chatter baits from Temu and the tie eyes are just rolled over. After the second fish I casted again and pulled in only the blade. Tied on another one and the same thing happened but it fell off on the bank. Looked at it and noticed a gap in the tie eye. Other than that they definitely have good action and catch fish.
I also ordered a bunch of fishing and other stuff from temu, and so far ive been content with the value for quality. I would just urge to be ware of claiming something is quality just by look and initial feel. Sure they may have cheaper production costs. But its highly doubtful the majority of the products aren't using sub par materials (like metals) to its 'domestic market' counterparts. Id be careful even calling the alternatives its equivalent. Quality is determined through time and use. So assigning a value in comparison may be a little short sighted prior to running the products through their full paces. If you think about it, these companies only need these things to pass the 'sniff test' just like this. we're not so dissimilar to the fish, are we? But I get you've got a video to make and people want to hear your opinion. I'd just add that little asterix if it were me. That being said, great video! I want to check that shirt out now, and the popper!
The pliers looked pretty dodgy. I love carp fishing and Temu has the best carp gear around. Also have the best attractant substances to add to your boilie mixes. I am satisfied with everything ive bought from them EXCEPT for a few different rods. The long 9, 10, 12 foot surf rods they sell and are good for carp fishing suck. It's the tip section that's like 2mm thick and will snap off while fight a large bluegill. The eyelets are barely glued on an will fall off just taking them out of the packaging. Other than the rods they have some great cheap stuff.
I think a lot of these mainstream companies get their items from places like temu then massively mark them up and give them a different name. I saw a metal detector on temu and the same one on amazon and the temu detector cost $17 and the amazon $100.
im a pretty big fan of temu i highly recommend buying tackle there like hooks weights bobbers swivel and such best price you'll find and great quality... i bought rods from temu and for the price they were good but i wouldn't recommend the ones i bought to anyone to buy them selves and i bought a handful of lures and honestly they all look stellar but i dont use lures much so i cant really say to much the problem with things like temu wish and what not is its always a gamble you never truly know what you buy till you open it with that being said if i combined all my temu items and had to give it a 0-5 star rating i could say with confidence 4 stars or higher and the customer service is also quite good
I have baught similar items from ali and wish. The only problem i have had is that jerk baits and similar designes leak and you end up with water inside.
I feel your pain! Just lost a favorite Temu crankbait lure in a tree the other day. But at maybe $1 or $1.50 no biggie! Spent 20 minutes trying to get it and thought, this is not a productive use of my time!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fish on!
As a bait maker myself, I can tell you that you pay for what you get. Ofcourse I would ask for everyone to support your local bait makers as it helps the community. I digress. Fishing is all about triggering fish to strike. So if you're not confident in what you're using then you're just living a self fulfilling prophecy of failure. All your gear should compliment you as a fisherman. The cost to produce anything in the US will always drives prices to be much higher than those direct sale from China. A majority of anything you own is coming from China. Temu is no different but is direct sale from China to the consumer, no middle man to mark up price for profit. You'd want to fish higher end gear for that one fish that wasn't going to get away. There's nothing more frustrating than having your gear fail on you when it matters the most. Nothing is guaranteed even with top tier gear, they just increases its success than going with the cheapest stuff. Fish with confidence and you'll be fine. Your experts will agree with it and share what their confident with.
Thanks for sharing. Very good and detailed comparison. The down side is: how much does a worker in China get paid working these products.... slavering?
I just bought some lures and shit from Temu. I figured everything at big 5, dicks, turners, bass pro are all made in China regardless so what difference does it make besides just getting it at a brand store….

the sad thing is temu is the worst spyware and i would never trust cheaply produced objects with probably the cheapest and worst chemicals in it. at least not when i would get in contact with it very often like with clothes or smth.
Temu products are made in China just like most products you buy at Walmart, target Amazon etc.. The temu products are probably even made in the same factories and same molds as the products in major U.S. big box stores. I don't know where you are from but if you are from the U.S. most of the products you buy are made in China. Even the products that are claimed to be made in the U.S. are only final assembled here and the raw materials are probably from overseas as well. Unfortunately, the manufacturing base in the U.S. has been hollowed out for a long time. I'm not happy either to have to get all my products from China, but unfortunately, politicians from both sides and corporations sold out the American worker along time ago
@@JoeOceanside Can't tell you how much stuff I have gotten on Temu that is identical, the same item, as stuff from Bass Pro, Academy Sports, Wally World etc., probably from the same factories . Most of the stuff they sell is MIC unfortunately, Just cutting out the middle man. Smart business. No issues with spyware here.... YMMV.
Nope, it's the other way around, the brand ones are made to get the fishermen hooked and not the fish. That bass dont give a shit if it looks super ultra realistic for 15 dollars or you have a cheap ass bait with half working action for like a dollar and not so good looking paint. You seriously think that the fish care about that little detail on it? You pay 10$ extra for something that's absolutely useless, it looks better to you but not the fish, the fish doesn't give a shit. I don't have any of these cheap hard lures or anything but it's the reality, we're all the same, we spend way too much money on baits when you could catch the same amount of fish on something that's like 5 or 10 times cheaper. Buy whatever you prefer and want but don't say that these baits are to catch the fishermen when you know it's exactly the other way around, they catch your ass on a bait that costs 9 dollars but in reality that bait costed like 50 cents to make and if you paid a dollar for the same bait from china you'd get the same amount of fish as with the 9 dollar one.
As Joe demonstrated in the video and in my experience they are the same or similar lures you get from Bass Pro and the like. Just cutting out the middle man.
But I still say it’s best to go to Walmart yeah he could purchase them from the website but if you’re in that much of a tight budget you should just go ahead and buy it from Walmart right in the United States and you buying it from the stores in the United States where pays the people in the United States paychecks instead of paying somebody over in China that has machines keep people working I am in the stores in the United States here keep people at a job or end up being like China that you gonna have everybody living right next-door to each other that you open up a window and all you see is that person’s face in your window you like to live in a sardine can send it in the United States I could just say everybody’s different choices but for me I will spend it at Walmart in the United States where other people can have a job
I hear you on that, I used to feel similar. But now I'm pretty sure most of the big box stores and brands produce everything in China anyway and they sell to us at a markup. So we end up with the same Chinese produced product but marked up in price, and the corporation ends up with the profits. These corporations shipped the manufacturing overseas along time ago so they could squeeze out extra money for themselves with no thought long term what would happen to the average working man. Alot of the Chinese off brand products actually come from the same factory as the name brand ones, the factories are all tooled up to make a certain item, and when there are no orders for that SKU they go ahead and run the machines anyway and sell the products for private label or off brand knockoffs. So I think it's great we can finally bypass the middle man and get the products from the source. These "cheap" prices are what we should have been paying the whole time. Now if you can find local handcrafted, artisan fishing lures handmade in the U.S I would be all for buying from them, but that could get expensive quick.
I agree. Walmart brand lures and tackle come from China. My wife works in the sporting goods department. Also a lot of other brands from the USA their product come from China, Taiwan, Korea or elsewhere.
Probably most of the products you buy are actually from China. The USA manufacturing base has mostly been shipped overseas so there really isn't much that is actually "made in America". Alot of companies say "assembled in USA" but that just means the parts are made in China, then the final assembly is done in America. The USA sold out its workers along time ago, so unfortunately most manufacturing has been done in China for a while now, and with enough experience they are probably getting better at manufacturing than Americans are

What makes you think they give a &*^% about the rest of us? It is very frightening and sobering.
Yeah pay $15 for something you could get for like 2-3 dollars. In reality the fish doesn't care about that a bit better looking paint and a bit better action. That's the reality, all of these brands make lures to catch fishermen not fish.
That's only what you think, the fish don't care if you have a $10 bait or an $1 bait, they will bite just as much on the dollar one, that a bit better looking paint doesn't change anything like come on they attack some wierd ass red looking bait that they've never seen anything like that in their entire life and doesn't even look like a fish and you think they care about that extra detail paint and a better action by only a bit that you paid like 10x more. I also buy the expensive ones, I don't even have a single one of these cheap ones but that's just the reality, they make baits to catch fishermen not fish, they make you think that the fish are rather going to bite that 8 dollar lure instead of the one that costs 80 cents from some Chinese site.

It's the tip section that's like 2mm thick and will snap off while fight a large bluegill. The eyelets are barely glued on an will fall off just taking them out of the packaging. Other than the rods they have some great cheap stuff.
Yeah, it's real hit or miss with Temu, some of the stuff is amazing and some stuff is total garbage
I think a lot of these mainstream companies get their items from places like temu then massively mark them up and give them a different name. I saw a metal detector on temu and the same one on amazon and the temu detector cost $17 and the amazon $100.
I agree. I may do the same when I retire.😊
im a pretty big fan of temu i highly recommend buying tackle there like hooks weights bobbers swivel and such best price you'll find and great quality... i bought rods from temu and for the price they were good but i wouldn't recommend the ones i bought to anyone to buy them selves and i bought a handful of lures and honestly they all look stellar but i dont use lures much so i cant really say to much the problem with things like temu wish and what not is its always a gamble you never truly know what you buy till you open it with that being said if i combined all my temu items and had to give it a 0-5 star rating i could say with confidence 4 stars or higher and the customer service is also quite good
Yeah it's cheap enough to take a gamble with
@@JoeOceanside 👍👍
I have baught similar items from ali and wish. The only problem i have had is that jerk baits and similar designes leak and you end up with water inside.
Some of the UL rods are almost unbreajavle, except the odd rings that come off in other reviews. But I bought 4 ,and for 2 years, nothing happened !
Just started fishing consistently and I’ve lost 5 lures in the past week so until I can stop casting into trees I’m gonna try these 😂
I feel your pain! Just lost a favorite Temu crankbait lure in a tree the other day. But at maybe $1 or $1.50 no biggie! Spent 20 minutes trying to get it and thought, this is not a productive use of my time!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fish on!
Where I live there is only tilapia but they are all tilapia species, both zebra tilapia but they are half yellow and they are more aggressive
More fishing please
Yessir, that's the plan
Hunthouse,all blue,bearking,snipler, etc ............
Thanks for sharing. Very good and detailed comparison. The down side is: how much does a worker in China get paid working these products.... slavering?
Good ❤
Thank you
I just bought some lures and shit from Temu. I figured everything at big 5, dicks, turners, bass pro are all made in China regardless so what difference does it make besides just getting it at a brand store….
What type of prices are more like Walmart prices Walmart?
Are the same message Minnie, patchy?
The sad thing is that most of that gear is probably made by the same company as the more expensive stuff
You are correct sir
Walmart has a Ugly stick rod and reel for $35.
I love temu fishing gear but now they raised the minimum from 10 dollars to 15 now
What's 15 now? The minimum order amount?
@@JoeOceanside yes
@@JoeOceanside For free shipping. It's $20 minimum now for me for free ship but I just put stuff in my cart every couple days when I think of something and lo and behold I soon have $20 worth! I have a number of hobbies I get supplies for including music, sailing, Jon boating and fishing to name a few😁
I bought each lure for about 90cents to a dollar during 10.10 sale, wait for 11.11 sale and buy more
Cut it down the tip ,it will strengthen the tip and put knew tip guide on
That's what I was thinking about doing, just take it down one section
That’s what she said😂❤
I got 28 beautiful Hard lures from Teemu for $.38 apiece. I got most all of my tackle from there .. most all of it is high quality and much appreciated.
is it true they keep your account number and take out your money on later dates
why cant yo link the producf
"If it sounds too good to be true it probably is" in this case Temu sells users data and profits far more from that than from the original sales.
Every social media platform and commerce website does that, including RUclips. That's why if you search for an item in the Amazon app, you will start seeing ads for similar items in Instagram and face book. If you watch a certain type of video on RUclips you may get fed similar topic videos in Tiktok. I haven't found temu to be any worse than Amazon or any other online seller with this.
2 yrs on Temu and IMHO Joe is correct.
Had a different comment drafted and decided to shorten it to this... dunno how I stumbled into a fishing video when I've legit never searched for relates content before, but that gx2 is $45 at my local Walmart... just saying
I know for a fact those swim baits are not good. They just don't swim. I bought exactly same ones
How safe is temu?
You can use PayPal to pay, so I guess it is as safe as PayPal for transactions.
I will not put the app on my phone, but you can just go to the website on phone or laptop and use PP like Joe said. No issues in 2+ years.
I don't believe you actually tried these because you would know they don't swim properly
Not a rattletrap it’s a lipless crank bait.
Ok thanks for that
Ohhh a lipless crank bait … that rattles… hmmm like a rat L trap ? Funny I didn’t know Doug was a shortened version of Karen
Most people said higher price tag = better quality..but i must say not really..usa stuff tends to be more expensive because of tax not quality
bass lorenzos box
look im a 14 year old kid who just spent legit 400 dollers and this guy MOSTLY isnt lying in my experience it was all SOOOO good like unbelive(For the price) but i got a reel for a rod and a rod reel combo and the reel was sooo good but the combo was a little bit ass and i find they like too trick you a little with sizing of stuff but it was really good i rate temu here Sougayilang was the brand that i got the combo from but also the one joe got hes from so it could be a can be good can be shit company but i wasnt impressed at all
Wow you bought 400 on Temu, you must have got alot of stuff. Yeah the quality is decent on alot of it, I was surprised
I want to know what job pays a 14 year old 400 or congratulate your parents on teaching a kid the value of saving and budgeting and also applaud you at the same time for it
I wanted to buy one of those rods, the problem is that here "sougaylang" means "I'm gay"
LOL, in what language?
@JoeOceanside portuguese, maybe I will buy it and scrape it off lol 😂
Sou = I am / gay / ylang -> it maybe only me, but kind of sounds like "licking" (lambe) so, it is even worst 😂😂
Walmart has 8 dollar rods...
Now the rod its 38dolars :/ doubled price :(
Wow, that's a bummer, I see the price go up and down alot on some items. Just gotta catch em when it's low
thx for the tip, i will be looking these days 😀😀@@JoeOceanside
the sad thing is temu is the worst spyware and i would never trust cheaply produced objects with probably the cheapest and worst chemicals in it. at least not when i would get in contact with it very often like with clothes or smth.
Joe is 100% correct again. If Markus lives in the US.....
YMMV.
did he just compare a ugly stick to a temu fishing rod?
Your video channel is very good.l can exchenge online.🌹🌹🌹🌹👍🍁🍁🍁
Thank you for much hello
Wow thank you sir
walmart has spinner baits and buzz baits for $1, always look for the value.
mass produced cheap copies are never any good, Temu is full of junk being sold off at silly prices to get you hooked not the fish
Copies? They are probably made in the same factories and same molds as they name brands.

China gaining US currency. A thought.
Cheap crap. But it’s cheap.
Expect what you pay.
When have you ever known Chinese product to be of good quality. Just be glad it’s not toxic.
Probably most of the products you buy are actually from China. The USA manufacturing base has mostly been shipped overseas so there really isn't much that is actually "made in America". Alot of companies say "assembled in USA" but that just means the parts are made in China, then the final assembly is done in America. The USA sold out its workers along time ago, so unfortunately most manufacturing has been done in China for a while now, and with enough experience they are probably getting better at manufacturing than Americans are
@@JoeOceansideSorry Joe. You are not very familiar with the mainland. Their drive for profit supersedes EVERYTHING.
Fake baby milf, fake eggs, fake sugar, fake salt, fake tofu, fake soda, fake alcohol, fake medicine, fake coffee, fake cooking oil (gutter oil), fake beef (dog meat), fake Starbucks, fake Nike, fake Gucci, fake Rovers, fake Toyota, fake Honda, fake building (tofu dreg projects), fake European cities, fake toys poisoned with lead, fake doctors and nurses, fake teachers, fake police, fake fire hydrant,.........the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. If they can sell fake baby formula to their own population of babies, imagine what they will sell to the rest of the world?
It is the system. The cost of corruption cuts into anywhere from 30-50% of overhead. The only way to succeed is to cheat and cut corners. Just look at their building projects. They have 50 story buildings made of sand! SAND! People will die in those buildings, and people have. And these are just the tip of the iceberg. They don't even care about their own. What makes you think they give a &*^% about the rest of us?
It is very frightening and sobering.
Those baits you use are 90% from the same factories these cheap are from.

Temu uses forced labor. No, thank you.
No they don’t. The US government put it as negative for child labor.
Proof of this?
Wonder how much temu paid for this advertisement..ill take my rapala, strike king etc.
I wish. TEMU if your reading this, please send money and fishing gear.
Yeah pay $15 for something you could get for like 2-3 dollars. In reality the fish doesn't care about that a bit better looking paint and a bit better action. That's the reality, all of these brands make lures to catch fishermen not fish.
@@xtherealest no its about quality, where you hit rockswithout paint chipping or the lip breaking off a crankbait
Hate to tell you but nowadays some rapala stuff is MIC too.
My opinion, cheap Chinese fishing gear is junk.
The fish don't seem to mind it
That's only what you think, the fish don't care if you have a $10 bait or an $1 bait, they will bite just as much on the dollar one, that a bit better looking paint doesn't change anything like come on they attack some wierd ass red looking bait that they've never seen anything like that in their entire life and doesn't even look like a fish and you think they care about that extra detail paint and a better action by only a bit that you paid like 10x more. I also buy the expensive ones, I don't even have a single one of these cheap ones but that's just the reality, they make baits to catch fishermen not fish, they make you think that the fish are rather going to bite that 8 dollar lure instead of the one that costs 80 cents from some Chinese site.
