Great video, and very helpful...want to get a setup like yours for my old 75 travco motorhome. Your a good communicator, and give guys like me the confidence to do the job, and not over engineer the whole process. thanx
How many batteries are you charging? I've got the suitcase style solar panel from HF, charging one battery that only gets used once a week for lights and a couple other things, like a stereo. Do you reckon that'll work? The plan is to just leave it and make sure I'm not losing any voltage over time I guess.
We are all learning. One day, at least part of our electricity will be from solar. Have you done any videos on your trailer? I see you insulated it with sheet insulation? How does it work?
Nice Job on the video. Thanks for making it simple and easy to understand. Very simple as you have shown. Hope to get a deal on the solar panels like yours. Bill
i am just charging one Marine battery... thats a Small charger ? , might be a trickle charger, Make sure it has a cut off for over voltage. wouldnt want to charge to high
Having the inverter right next to the battery connections on the charge controller is not a good idea as there is a risk of the inverter housing shorting them.
I'm sure you've figure out by now as with all solar you only get 1/10th of the power ie. watts of advertised. as soon as you add a battery, it's ohms law 101 volts is pressure.
i took this off and mounted to my new trailer , it has WAY more room.. but the controller died or something, it quit charging... so ill look at the new ones you sent
Chandler Sharp I have 5 sets of them, one set will not run both lights without a battery in the circuit, I would recommend them, but now you can get panels for .30 cents a watt for cheap ones, just add another regulator, the regulators on these aren't the best, if you run 2 inverters on one regulator it will fail, I run my regulators straight off the battery without using the regulator for anything but charging the many batteries I use!
Chandler Sharp P.S. you can run 6 panels on one regulator but not 9, that's how I broke my second one that failed, I just added 2/30 amp regulators to lighten the load of my 2 failed regulators that came with the kits.
Jay Miller cool thanks for the reply. I have been slacking over winter and have yet to order anything. I have done more research and heard good things about the renogy kit. Has one 100w panel and 20 or 30amp controller cant remember. But i plan on running at least 100ah marine battery in my setup. Would like to add a roof A\C but then i have the 110v issue
i keep meaning to do a video inside... just working 12 hour days, and then crashing at night.. roof insulation helps a Lot Lot Lot. But the walls, altho they are covered in wood, really would help to be insulated as well. Silly me bought a Black trailer to match my black truck... Alabama gets up to 110's in summer... gunna be an oven. Hope the AC keeps up
Installed a battery box on the tongue. made a video about it... Thanks again (i do listen to comments, ) guys let me know what you think and ways to improve
Hello! Have you thought about - Maxim Earth 4 Energy (check it on google)? Ive heard some super things about it and my friend got cool returns with it.

Wow! This video has been a great help for me! I never understood how to hook up these types of solar panels till now! So easy, thank you!
thanks for simple demonstration of the project
never underestimate the power of velcro
Glad i could help, and you enjoyed it..
Yeah that might be a good Idea... Good looking out.. I want to get a truck box to put on the front tongue . then i can put it in there
Thank you, knowledge installed, that's if I don't forget:-]

Question I thought there should be some space between the bottom of the panel and the roof of the RV. So is it working OK still?
If you can find a kit cheaper or same price, with better results.. then im all for it..
Good job

'might be a good idea'. Certainly is a good idea! :p those gases can be very dangerous and you don't want to inhale them!
Can you keep the system on all of the time? For example charging drills or any other power tools constantly.
Look up the solar tool huy

good video
Cool video, I just did a video of my DIY Solar Grid Tie in system

I'm about to buy this same system would you Recommend? Did you have any problems
I'm gonna run a few lights and a stereo
get it when its on sale. i have seen it for $150.. mine works great.. Get a good marine battery also.

I run 10 batteries at a time, have for years, lol

Thanks man , I try
Are you still working on this trailer? I see your videos are about 2 years old.
+Paul Gillett this one , no..
I have plans for another one.. just waiting for my friend to say go
i moved the battery. there is a video about it up :P
whats the purpose of the water
To Drink.. dont know why i showed the install of those cup holders.. maybe cause i installed it next to the unit...
what about the explosive hyrogen gas given off by batteries being charged?
Moved the battery outside in a later video
had a freind loose one eye to gas blowing up while he switched the leads on charger without turning it off.better safe to fight another day
that is a Whistler 350 watt inverter!
Show us where ?

your trailer is a mess
