      As long as Palestinians exist as an identifiable group, Zionists will target them and try to provoke them into another Oct. 7 . Zionism, from its very beginning, has been based on a presumption that the indigenous people must be ethnically cleansed (they called it "transfer" back in the day). They have made it very clear that they want Eretz Israel (Greater Israel) "from the Jordan to the sea", as the Likud Party has it in their manifesto.

    Hamas, before October 7th, fired low level rockets, regrettably killing in relatively small numbers. This alone is tragic, but it's inconceivable that they were an existential threat to a well armed Israeli army. The correspondent's claim that they want to wipe Israel off the face of the map is an exaggeration and an impossibility designed to provide backing for his argument. It really provides no foundation for the myriad of war crimes Israel has been building up.

    • @shotelco
      @shotelco 10 месяцев назад +3

      Yep. I wouldn't use the term " psychopath", as this means one individual is affected by chronic mental disorder - A Medical Condition - with abnormal social behavioral symptoms. That let's him off the hook as being a victim of a disease of his individual body. It's better to view this holistically, with respect to *Group Human Behavior.* I have no doubt Mr. Turx believes in his soul that Palestinians as a group, are inherently sub-human and a clear and present danger to the group he belongs to. This is why his rationalizations go beyond logic.
      Its important to view groups like the one Mr. Turx is a member of in the light of *Human Behavior.* There is a trigger point in all of us humans, where after a lifetime of being socially conditioned - typically through religions or nationalistic cultural teachings - that we simply can not maintain a grasp on the value of other human life beyond our group. Think about the 1930's German Third Reich; literally a handful humans, successfully _Triggered_ the masses of their countrymen into conducting an ultra atrocity. It wasn't the top leadership doing the dirty work, it was commoners such as Mr. Turx who went into blind survival mode.
      Same with Rwanda during its difficulties. Same with thousands of events throughout human history. There is no denying this. This is Factually an aspect of how Human Group behavior can be so easily manipulated by the few (and typically, the few in leadership are actually clinical psychopaths/sociopaths). Us humans like to think we are somehow above this, and could recognize when our base instincts are being exploited...but we can't, especially when we have been groomed over generations to put Group/Tribe survival first.
      Unfortunately, there is no fixing an aspect of Human behavior that is hard wired. The best we can do is mitigate it.

    Cenk, why did you never raise the issue that the Gazans are the indigenous people of the region? The Israelis can only claim to have an indigenous ancestry in the distant past based on sacred history. As any historian knows, sacred history is legend, not history. Archaeologically, Canaan was the home to many Semitic peoples. The Israelites were one among many. Hamas is the response to previous Israeli brutality. How is this so hard for Israelis to understand? There’s a whole book about this subject: Rashid Khalidi’s
    The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonialism and Resistance,
    1917-2017.
    Jake Turx should read a copy. The reading public in the U.S. is reading this book, as I am. Jake is a reasonable person, I do believe. Maybe he would change his opinions if he considered the Palestinian arguments based on their history with Israel.

    Pre-Oct.7th I didn't know anything about Israel and Palestine in a historical context but have read so much and listened to a gazillion interviews of professionals and journalists videos, viewed maps of Palestine pre-1948. Now I conclude I am 100% against the formation of a Jewish state from the get go evicting Palestinians off their land in the 1940's. I think Israel is a sick and cloistered society. It should become 1 state of Palestine with Jews, Muslims and Christians all living together like N. J., or 2 states within 1 state or 2 separate states with the West Bank going 100% to Palestinians.

    Cenk you have just done what Israel are trying to do been economical with the Truth. When Turkey invaded Cyprus it was an independent state. Turkish Cypriots numbered 18% of the population descended from the Ottomans. Greek Cypriots were 80% mostly descended from the indigenous people. 2% were Armenian and Maronites. Turkey leased Cyprus to Britain in exchange for fighting the Russians in the late 1800s and ceceeded it to Britain after WW1. It wasn't Greek and Turkish it was Cypriot of ethnic backgrounds. Kissinger encouraged a coup and then the Turkish invasion to establish a western presence because he believed Britain were going to leave. They didn't leave and Turkey is illegally occupying the North. At no point did they take the whole island and then give 60% back. By trying to act like Turkey did the right thing it hasn't. It occupied 37% it is no better than Israel. Turkey implanted main land Turks who have turned Turkish Cypriots into second class citizens.

I've felt huge anger towards the IDF who film themselves whilst joyfully committing war crimes but the video that really triggered me was a newsagents shop in Israel, where the shops CCTV filmed a bunch of IDF soldiers walking in and approaching two little (probably five or six years old) boys with their mum, pick one of those boys out and systematically bully him. There was something satanic about the enjoyment one particular soldier had whilst terrifying this small child. And it was the look of fear on his mothers face because she knew if she stepped in to protect her son, there would be consequences.

    The British had a policy known as "de-housing". It was the targeted killing of civilians in Germany - the workers. They bombed at night because they didn't need to see a target. The whole town was the target. Was that OK? Are you upset with the outcome that helped to produce? If you're gonna take these positions on moral grounds, you have to be consistent or else we can dismiss your moral argument

      when you do this, you have already lost the moral argument.

      It was a controversial policy at the time. The allies expended a considerable amount of effort working out what worked and what didn't work post war- and they themselves determined that bombing civilians out of their homes made very little difference to the outcome - bombing factories did make a big difference.
      Furthermore, post war, Albert Speer claimed that the Allies were *very* close to shutting down production - and that the switch to bombing civilian targets gave Germany a chance to rebuild their production capacity, thus prolonging the war.
