Next time in the sand, hold down the traction control off button for 3 seconds until it fully turns off. That’s normal for the truck not to want to drive in the sand when the traction control is on.
it’s the “no automotive knowledge” for me lmao
The noise your hear in the sand is the traction control system and abs system working together to get the truck from losing traction. the new LSD differentials work with the breaking system. It’s similar to how crawl control works.
Thanks for the belt info broski
The same happened to me when I first brought the truck on the sand. You gotta hold down the traction control button for a few seconds then the fun begins.
For better traction you could air down your tires, turn traction control off, get an air pump for when going back to the highway.
This all good information . I have a question does your tacoma starts to overheat when 4wheel , I have to rev it up to cool it down...
You were the reason why I am getting a 6 inch lift on my 2017 Sport. Haha I’ve re watched that video 100 times just to see how mines will look! 🤣 I have 43000 on mines and the only thing I’ve run into is a faulty maf sensor that I just replaced.
Thanks for watching the videos I appreciate that. I’m sure your Tacoma will look great once you lift it 🤟🏽
Don’t do it. Anything more than 2-3inch lift on an IFS truck puts the front CV Axles at a compromised position
i have a lifted 20OF- wheel it pretty hard, luckily i never had these issues. As for as traction goes, with the sport, you don’t get any traction goodies but you can air down, or add a locker to help you get over obstacles. also the grinding noise might be coming from your drive shaft. flipping your drive shaft is a free fix. or you can add shims or replace it with an aftermarket one. i’ve seen these issue come up on the forums before.
That lift is SICK. I have a 2022 same color TRD sport 4wd. I would love to have it done like yours but don't have anough right now
Do you know what kind of grade you were on when your engine started smoking? Was it more than 30 degrees?
I have the 2018 Trd OR long bed 28200 on it. Still havent done anything suspension wise or used crawl control. Want to get some LED light bars. I got falken wildpeak tires and tested them in the snow last week. Worked great.
Replace the belt keep the old belt if its still serviceable. If you are on the highway in BFE and the belt breaks you can toss the old one on and get going. I do the same with radiator hoses. They are the weakest link of the engine.
Sweet looking truck!
Do you have any driveline vibes what, do you have any cb spacers or shims?
I just picked up a 2018 lifted 4x4 SR Tacoma. Looks great for an SR! And on paper lol.
So why does the Tacoma smoke on steep inclines and is it a costly fix?
Key on the on position engine not running hold the traction control button down for 5 to 10 seconds that will shut your traction control completely off regardless of your speed. Holding the traction control button down for 3 to 5 seconds with the engine running will only disable abs and traction control under a lower speed like 20mph. And the smoking issue you need an oil catch can. I off road a 2020 Tacoma TRD off-road 6 speed manuel lots of mods
Nice looking truck. 👌
I appreciate your content, bro! I just purchased the 6 inch RC lift with a brand new set of wheels and rubber. Going to install it soon, maybe even this weekend! I have the same year, color, etc. that you have and if my Tacoma comes out looking even close to yours, I will be stoked. Keep up the content!
Thanks brotha!! Im sure your Tacoma will look just like mine if not better.
I would love to see the final results!!!
Have a trd sport I might do this
On my taco sr5 2wd I had the belt squeak and took to the dealer and the replace the belt for free and never heard it again
Easy fix on the belt spray it with 303 protectant. No more noise.
The other common issue worth mentioning is the needle bearing failure on the front diff, mine is still stock but the bearing is failing at 60k.
That's the traction control bro. Upgrade to at least the trd off road for crawl and mts. Still will hear the sounds though. Imagine how I felt with my old 2004 4Runner v8.
Smoking happened to a local guy here in St. Louis MO area. Ended up hydro locking his engine with oil. Sucking oil from PCV into intake. Many of us put on a catch can/oil seperator to hopefully mitigate this issue.
Pcv, will look into it.
it's because in a steep angle your oil moves away from the oil pump . the tacomas suggests to get a oil changes every 10k, so if he waited that long chances are he had low oil and if he does them every 10k or past that it means that he was probably also burning oil from lack of maintenance meaning the oil level was probably a couple quarts low and the steep angle moved the oil away from oil pump and was not sending any oil to the top end and piston rings, which will cause this. in other words, catch can will do absolutely nothing at all to prevent this. but I see how you could think the egr system could cause this. but there is no way it could send that much to hydrolock it in my opinion, obviously I could be wrong.
@@alexgarcia3900 not true at all. if you watch the videos when it happens its a clear sign of ingesting oil into the intake causing a hydro lock. it happened to a local out here in STL.
What you're thinking of is a steep DECLINE angle. yes thats when you get low oil/oil pressure light on these, its happened to me at a 30+ degree descent.... but going at INCLINE you ingest oil through PCV..
@@3GFinn that much oil???? It's never happened to me and I own 2 tacomas and literally off road at least once a month. Last month I went like 5 times. I went with my cousins and they also own tacoma . I have a 2016 off road and a 2019 sport. My cousins has a 2017 sport and a 2018 sr5 and my uncle has a 2022 sport. I live in Hawaii ( toyota tacoma capital) and I personally have never heard or experienced this and I've been off roading my trucks since brand new in super steep angles. So my only conclusion is that they had low oil. I have many friends with tacomas as well. And again I could be wrong but if it was the pcv it would literally happen to every single tacoma and apparently it doesn't. So something is different in a few ( oil level?)
@@alexgarcia3900 hasn’t happened to me either. It seems to be only a select few. This happened on a 2019 I believe. And yeah same here I wheel about everything other weekend. I have a 2021 taco trd offroad. I’ve had the low oil level light when doing crazy steep descents but I have not had any smoking from steep incline climbs. I also did put an oil separator on once I heard a local had that happen. He also wheels very very hard. There’s a few videos about it and also a thread on tacomaworld.
Maybe a oil catch can will help going at steep inclines
That’s a good one ^
My tacos traction control comes on when I go around some corners idk why but it is lifted 3.5 in
all cars have that issue on inclines, specially if you are waiting the 10k for oil changes chances are you are running a quart low. I own 2 tacomas and they never lose traction like yours. I've heard this is a big problem when getting a 6 inch lift. both my 3rd gen tacomas have a 2 inch lift and 32s and I've never had any problems with them. one has 40k miles and the other one has 60k miles
These trucks are made for the mall parking lot. How are you gonna hydro lock on a hill climb 😂
I got a Gates belt mine squeaked at 20k
For your sand issue turn your traction control off.
It's a Camry motor in a truck... what'd we expect.
We just entered the stoner world of, off roading… 😂😂
Something wrong with your tacoma. Might dont do that
Hi , where is that area? Thanks
Banning CA
Should call it tabooma and not taco, truck is going to explode. 😂😂
What mats are those
I got them at Walmart
Looks like your burning oil on the incline
Hmmmm 🤨
YOU HAVE NO WEIGHT IN THE REAR. PUT WEIGHT IN THE REAR OR 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOL
🤦🤦♂️
All car smoke when you climbing for too long
What’s the cause of the smoking and will prolonged activity like that damage the engine.
@@davidbuckles9950 catch can help with the smoke!
Not true. The Tacoma has a garbage engine. Everything else about them is cool but the engines are garbage lol
@@Connor4x4 😂 okay Chevy boy
@@canalesivany Okay. Toyota girl 🤣
Jeeps are way better 😆 🤣(Najar off-road)
Death wobbles are not fun lol.
Tacomas suck bro get a Jeep
Go away bro!!
Imagine recommending a Jeep lol. Tacomas are way better than better than Jeeps. Jeeps are made by fiat...
@@The_Goon3r He definitley likes boys
How’s that death wobble treating you bro ?
jeep sucks....
