8.20.22 Just bought a 2017 SR5, without all the extras, with 62k miles on it, and I am stoked. In today's market I got a very good deal with an impeccable documented full maintenance report, and super clean inside and out. And anything I want to upgrade and add-on, won't break my bankroll over time, but as is, it has everything anyone would want, and drives smooth and tight. Great truck!

My ‘19 has the auto braking feature because of the camera in the grill. I love the Toyota safety sense features, in my 80,000 miles I put on it so far, I’ll admit that it did save me once from rear-ending someone. Car care nut specifically stated that 2016, 2017, and 2018 all had issues. Its 2019 and up that it all gets fixed. 2016 was definitely the worst year though. After 2016 its just little minor issues. I think 2021 and up is the best years since you actually get a powered seat and all the technology like radar cruise control and a better screen. I just got a 2023 SR5 V6 4wd in Silver. Love it. You can disable the radar and collision stuff if you don't want it but I think its nice to have. I saw a tacoma review with 318,xxx miles and the radar stuff still worked fine. All original.

The first 3 years of gen 3 Tacomas have a plethora of issues. They’re still good vehicles and are more reliable than 1/2 of the other vehicles out there , but I’d still stay away from 16,17,18 years. Starting in 2019 they ironed out a lot of those issues. By 2020 they were golden.
