“The LFA is so good, not even the people who made it, know how to make it again”-Jeremy Clarkson
so true
I don't know how much they spent on the development of the LFA, but I am sure Toyota will never again greenlight that much money to be blown on a car which they are going to sell at a loss.
@@ivaniii9707 yeah we unfortunately will never see another LFA, after over a decade of deigns being made and scrapped over and over, and probably excessive RND budget expenses and of course as you mentioned, losing money on every one they even managed to sell, it was a phenomenal car and one of my all time favorite cars ever; but from a business standpoint making something like it again isnt feasable in the slightest so all we can really do is be thankful that they even made the LFA
I never realized that goon said that. However what does he know about the LFA that the designers and crew didn't know?
thats because all the best bits of the LFA were engineered by Yamaha

No, seriously, of all the things that James Engelsman has said, this is the one that everybody's gonna remember.
Why would you buy this when there is LC500
Honestly ots not worth 120k with less hp than something you'll get from a camaro zl1 or corvette z06..lexus just spent to much for nothing amd garamtee lost mkmey...I'll take a shelby gt350 anyday over this
Lexus was too scared to get too far away from being a Lexus and really made a car made for no one
They're slowly sticking their neck out though. Hopeful to see some new releases from them soon.
Give it a few years and maybe they’ll get it
Totally in agreement with that comment.
@@randyneves9701 they did but it flopped.

I honestly LOVE the styling of this car. Lexus really knows how to get the angular aggressive looks right
It's a great car. I miss mines and as of late the RCF's have become even more rare. Everyone loves to throw numbers and liked to remind me of "faster" options as if most owners of these highly expensive cars were racing through the streets every day trying to beat track times. Hell, i am actually looking into buying a lightly used track edition RCF as we speak.
Wait, what? Lexus gets what? Its a mishaped blob and the only angular parts are the worst part of the design. Lexus doesnt get anything design wise, since they stopped copying mercs. The RC is as overcharged stylistically as the Supra, hence why it lacks presence after you saw it for a few times.
@@AI-qd4vbUtter nonsense, style is a preference so you can say whatever you like about the car… But we aren’t going as far to say that it’s pretty much an ugly car ESPECIALLY with the shit BMW and Mercedes put out nowadays design wise. If the Lexus RC F is a “overcharged style”, at least it’s unique unlike BMW and Mercedes. Those 2 brands haven’t put out a good looking car since they recently changed their design language. Audi has been the only German brand that has quite nice designs. Again, it’s an opinion thing so it’s no point for back and forth argument about this debate.
@@kellyoubrejr544I’m a fan of Lexus but can’t seem to like the front end. Headlights always had that like if it was punched in the face design at some angles. Side profile is sexy and rear too, but towards the front just looks weird. BMW has always had handsome gorgeous looking cars until their redesigns which absolutely KILLED the designs it looks horrendous. You can’t tell me the 2021 M340i isn’t sexy and gorgeous.
Im not a fan of the sloping hood and the hump in it.

He says it with such confidence.
Oh my god that was hilarious. He said it so straight, Thomas perfectly summarized my thoughts on it 😂
He says 'They went with a lighter air conditioning compressor". When does he say your comment?
Gotta love Thomas's Dutch-sounding replay.
"It's not the size of the grill, it's how it's applied to the front of the car"
- Thomas Socrates
I’ve been saying this, the grill design is nice, it’s how it’s implemented which makes it work or not. The only Lexus models I don’t like being a Lexus fan, is the 3rd gen is and the gx.
This. It's infuriating when you're criticizing BMW (M3/M4) grillles but then some idiot comes with a "but Audi and Lexus has big grilles, too" argument.
Best chemistry since Hammond, CLARKSON, and May..
S K if that's the case, why are they still in production together?
The reality is that people do argue all the time, it doesn't mean much. Especially if you're in each other's space all the time.
@S K what TV were you watching? They didn’t get along when the cameras were on either lmao

great
LOVE throttle house especially Thomas's Canadian "must clearly enunciate while never EVER dropping my Gs". Eg, drivin, makin, waitin, etc (or "I'm gonna" instead of I'm going to). He can't lol
Felt a bit bumed out that there was no intro skit, but the outtake at the end more than compensated for that. We need more outtakes!
Track reviews don't get the opening skits.
Throttle House to 10,000,000
I feel like few people accidentally stumble across this channel and never get the urge to watch again. I’ve been watching every upload for almost 2 years. Ever since Thomas brought James along, they are hilarious, informative, the chemistry is great. True friendship. Both wonderful car enthusiast. High production quality, great cinematics. Y’all could easily get to 10,000,000. I also like how they don’t over saturate the YT with content. Channels that upload 20 times a day just to get an extra buck end up dying because people lose interest. When we check for a new upload and one isn’t there, we don’t care. We’re left with suspense and will check everyday until a new upload has arrived. It’s worth it.
For me it's the delivery. Everything they say about the cars comes across like they really thought about it, as opposed to "bro, this paint pops, like in some light it does but not in other light." "Now let's talk about whether the satellite radio can rewind for 20 minutes, and if we remember, we'll discuss the ride quality in the last three seconds." I live cars, and that channel bored me to tears.

@@DavekayBSC So well put. I was a fan of TSP for a bit, but they seem to have this arrogant "we're youtubers" mentality. I think they forget they don't actually own the cars they test. Everyone’s thinking it, but I’m gonna say it. Throttle House is the best automotive content available today. Informative, beautifully shot, and extremely entertaining writing and presentation.

Lexus was smart to make the RC when it was first introduced, they needed a sub-hundred-grand GT coupe and used extra parts from the IS, ES, and GS to develop this.
Problem with the RCF Track Edition was that it’s not focused enough to be a track car. The carbon fiber panels barely shaved off any weight and it still keeps most of the luxury bits from the RC 350. The V8 is also pretty underpowered compared to the competition.
For 100k, this is encroaching Porsche GT4 territory and the GT4 is simply a way more focused track car.
It’s still a pretty damn good GT car. However, if I wanted a GT car from Lexus, I’d rather buy the LC500 for nearly the same price.
This is a compact coupe. Its based on the IS and uses all the bin parts from that car. Its got nothing from an ES which is an entirely different platform and I doubt it shares anything more than an anecdotical percentage of parts with the GS which is a different segment. Interior, tech, powertrain, all comes from the IS. Thats also one of the reasons its so heavy and uninspired performance wise. The IS was designed with the hybrid powertrain in mind and very little thought was put into weight balance or chasis stiffness for performance applications. You cant always reinforce a car to handle the power the performance segment needs. Thats why they didnt even bother into making the is500 into a performace version and instead just went with the "zen" approach of just making it a sleeper V8.

Whenever the intro is changed again, that sentence better be in it. Or make it the company motto. Y’all need to pray it to the car gods. Something. “They made the air conditioning, lighter air conditioning weighter less.” needs to be in history books. Don’t let this line be forgotten.

Such a nice way to start my day watching throttle house. This car is beautiful.
Nothing better then Lexus , this car has some secrets that only the Lexus big fans knows, I love it so much ❤
Man I do really like these Lexus V8’s. They are super unique.
These will be the last of them, next year they will be switching to 4.0TT V8
@@saltyfloridaman7163 good comment /s, lol, always love when someone debates a subjective opinion. Next time post something worth-while. To me it is very unique especially in the way it sounds. I never said the build is a unique engineering masterpiece; simply that the characteristics are unique. I don’t even really like V8’s in general unless they rev high or sound more European, they all sound soulless and anti-climatic.
Socrates was indeed a busy man, but on his busiest day he still wasn't quite as hectic as Thomas on that hot lap. Like watching a one armed performer juggle snakes whilst both they AND the snakes were on fire. And on a unicycle.
It's a great car, just priced out of being truly competitive.
Even of it was priced competitively, it's still lacking. All it really has going for it is the NA V8.
@@person.w9780 Yep if I were to get the V8, get the LC500 or IS500 since they prioritize luxury over performance which is why they aren’t F cars. I don’t want a performance oriented car that falls flat on performance.
@@person.w9780 I disagree. The current problem is that you're essentially paying a premium for a car with performance not befitting its price tag and design language. However, price being equal or even undercutting its competition (as lexus was originally intended to do), then the choice becomes far more subjective and preferential. Generally speaking, no true F car has ever preformed head and shoulders above its competition on a track.
I’d rather get this as a used car. I’m pretty sure it would be a bag for your buck used but 100k for this considering the price is a no for most.
@@chris-andrebrissett5208 just buy an original, pre-facelift RC F and do some minor suspension mods. Less than half the price, just as solid thanks to the build quality and you even get your choice of TVD or Torsen.
Well, idk if it’s really a bad purchase. I think it’ll be a collectors car in it’s tiny niche and reliable too. That doesn’t take away from the fact that it is still heavy and doesn’t keep up with the Germans as well either, but it’s Lexus and it’s a limited edition run, a very special car that practically no one would want to buy.
I have a feeling we'll look back on these more fondly simply for the fact it's an NA V8 and it'll last till the end of time. I have no idea if that'll be reflected in the prices, though.
I'm a Lexus die hard fan, I genuinely wish from the bottom of my heart that Lexus would make a proper sport car with a proper price !!
Hope they make somethin light with gr86 platform
They need to add forced induction to the v8 to give it the power it needs and they need to lighten the car up some more.
@@theyhatehimbecausehetoldth7576 This means no V8 with forced induction then. If it is light, it will definitely not be able to deliver on the V8.
This car would be fine for that it if was cheaper, the RC should not be matching prices with the LC
You missed the point as most RUclipsrs. Its dead reliable and won't cost anything to maintain. BMW is a nightmare to keep running. The RCF is a hidden gem, and those who know, know
🤦🤦 Extremely stupid comment. I cant understand how people constantly believe the stupid myths behind BMW reliability. Yes some gens like the e90s were unreliable. Otherwise BMW are solid. Especially modern ones which are very reliable. The reason old BMWs are horrible to maintain is because take an e39. Thats a in 2000 a nearly 90,000 dollar sedan. Yet it was bought in 2015 for 15,000 dollars by a 17 year old who had a networth of 5k and borrowed the rest from friends and family. He then goes and drives it like a maniac with no money for even the most basic maintanace. People then are surprised its unreliable. No it was poorly maintained. A new BMW is a very reliable Car if its maintained as it was intended. It wont cause you any problems. Stop being stupid.

Unfortunately if I had that kind of money, there are several cars I'd rather get. I think that's truly the crux of the issue, it's not a bad car at all, just that there are better options in that price range.

As a current RCF owner I can say with almost certainty that it is fast enough for day to day use. Mine has PPE EL headers, Invidia catback, and recently got it tuned by Loi and it feels proper quick car.
For someone who has always owned BMWs, and VW I can't say anything bad against the European cars, but if you want reliability, and a car that is not a dime a dozen then RCF should be high on your list.

I bought a 2020 RCF and got it for around $68k. For what it is, it's awesome! I never looked at a car like an m3/4 or anything of that nature. I don't want something that is fast in a straight line or take to a track... I want a comfortable cruiser that is typical lexus/toyota reliability and when I put my foot down I hear the 8 cylinder. As cool as the Track edition or Fuji edition is, it's to my not worth $100k... or at least I would not spend that much for this vehicle. I'd look at a Porsche no questions. IF however they would have bumped up the power by 100hp for the track edition and done some other stuff it might be more worth it...
I love the CF even though it looks boy ricer to me in certain areas, but you can't get past the fact it's the same engine, same body style and overall same infotainment..etc, and or actually LESS options for the car, and paying more.
I LOVE the CCB but that can be changed for two piece rotors at a later time. The all red interior is way too much for me. It's typical lexus styling gone too far. It looks tacky and when I sat in one at the dealer when I was buying mine it was overwhelming the amount of red inside.
I LOVE my rcf though. But I would never buy the track edition... just way too expensive for what you are getting.
Already got a Lotus for that performance role, this I am getting as an ultimate long term ownership GT. F gives you soul, Germans are precise and high end but sterile and generic.

@@chris-andrebrissett5208 I ask myself that for pretty much any Lexus out there... with the exception of the LC500, which is only because the car looks so unique and beautiful inside and out. When you break down what the LC actually is (same NA V8 as the RC F) and include the dated and horrible infotainment, lack of interior controls locked behind that infotainment and cancerous touchpad, combined with poorly located controls (EG drive modes on the dashboard), the LC500 is grossly overpriced as well. Carbon fibre hood and "ReLiAbiLiTy"???
It’s got more emotion and character than any of them though
@@ollie-t7862 you gotta be kidding me
I watch this evertime it's recommended to me for the last minute of the video
Love the hot lap with no commentary more of that please
1. Chris Harris 2. James/Thomas best in the business! Funny stuff guys.
Aluminum, titanium, track performance.... hmm remembers me the first NSX
You can buy a low mileage 2015 rcf for like $45k, that’s a steal for that price IMO. These have proven to be very reliable cars and gets 28 mpg on the highway.
So for $60k more, it’s 1 second faster than a type r? 😂
People love comparing everything against the Type R laptimes, but enjoyment > laptimes. The FK8 sounds SO BAD and no matter how clever the suspension geometry is, you still have to be careful with the throttle to avoid huge understeer and that isn't particularly fun. That said, when I was buying my current car I test drove the Civic and not an RCF, since the RC chassis is just bad- which is a shame since the GS chassis is a masterpiece. Lexus are just weirdly inconsistent.
@@ApothecaryTerry To be fair, usually I don’t care about lap times, but this Lexus is supposed to be a “track edition” car, so somebody who is considering buying this car will probably care about lap times if they are paying 100k for a track car.
@@lolcow_president Yeah as I said I'm not really a fan of this car and I do agree that the track edition makes no sense. I just meant that the internet loves using the FK8 laptimes against everything but that car really isn't that fun.
Also worth mentioning the Nurburgring time isn't representitive. I have a 981 Cayman S which on the 'ring is 12s slower than an FK8...and yet on a bunch of tracks 1/4 the length is consistently 5s faster. A base RCF is at least equal too.
The FK8 is an impressive car, but takes more skill and (importantly) concentration to get close to the max performance than in most cars. I'd bet on a good 95% of drivers being faster down a country road in a GR Yaris than an FK8, even though the FK8 is the faster car.
@@lolcow_president They dont. It is an ultimate GT you can ocassionaly track, thats it. 50 people are steping out of the box and buying this oldschool emotion creating machine. straight speed is overrated.
Gorgeous car I love it way hotter than computation
How much does removing seat warmers reduce weight? That would be absolutely negligible.
Here after the ACR video! :'D
I love how these guys are honest with every car they review.
I like both LC500 and this RC F track edition 💕😍
If this is the wrong way to spend $100,000, then I don't want to be right.

+1•(8-4-3)•6•0•5•4•8•2•1!
I feel like these cars are gonna be depreciating in a few years and then they'll be great
I'm probably going to get the submodel wrong and I'm more of A Lexus guy in the first place but couldn't you just get like the Camaro zl1 or the track version with the V8 for like $60,000 or significantly less
YEP!
Yep if you know I8ABMR or now known as “The Track Enthusiast” he traded his IS F for a ZL1 and recently got a ZL1 1LE lol.
This car needs the 5.4L stroker from the RC F GT3. That car slays.
Bingo! 🙌🏽
