She spoke out about the abuse of the church well before anyone would admit it. They said she was crazy. Well, well, well she nailed it, just as she does here.
What about the pedo philia in politics and Hollywood that's been going on for ages as well? She and nobody talks about that! Sinead had a gripe with the church because she didn't know that every org in the West has this problem.
Bob Dylan must have been speechless when he heard this voice singing this song. I don't think any one else could have paid justice to this revolutionary song like this woman did. R.I.P Sinead,
I remember priests and 'christian' brothers trying to ride me circa '71 - when I was ten - I escaped but there were swarms of them in Ireland in the '60s - what do you expect from frustrated celibates wearing dark dresses
I have been crying too. She blazed a glorious trail and never held back. I plan to honour it by speaking the truth without fear, especially in service of my community. ❤️
I had a very special connection to Sinead. abused- to abused understanding. I'm heartbroken. that voice of her, the way she sang, the lyrics, the performance, her beauty in and out, her kindness- after all she been through... I found this in The Irish SUN about thIS video. she never forgot where she came from and who she fought for. I hope her soul is in peace now But one of the most incredible stories came in 2019 when the rock icon performed a haunting rendition of Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are A’ Changin’ - at the final hour of asking. Speaking to the Irish Sun, composer Jim Sheridan told of the last minute panic her change of heart sparked after an emotional report on child sex abuse was published. He explained: “Sinead was on the Late Late that night to talk about a damning report on clerical abuse that had come out that day. “Fifteen minutes before we went on air she caught me in the corridor and asked if she said could sing Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are A Changin’…live on the show. “I took out an app on my phone, she sang a few lines, I got the key and ran down to the band and told them ’Sinead ‘The Times Are Changin’ in the key of D’, ran in to the floor manager, Sinead is going to sing, then straight after her interview, Sinead gets up and sings ‘The Times They Are A Changing Live.. unrehearsed with a live band , it could have gone wrong and been a disaster that ends up on You Tube forever but it turned out magical, like it always did with Sinead”.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story and video. This song is very much a description of what is happening in the vatican hierarchy. And to Sinéad bless her soul ❤❤❤
Sinead with her amazing talent and courage actually took a Dylan standard and added another dimension- she was RIGHT too! In Canada my homeland, Indigenous peoples have been brutally abused, dehumanized and MURDERED by the Catholic Church, The Black Robes, as they were once called- the day the news came down the wire poor Sinead ( not "crazy"- a chemical imbalance made no better by lithium-) was gone, a mass grave of the skeletons of many Indigenous kids was discovered under a crumbling church- I rest my case. And as Kris Kristofferson wrote: then so was Picasso and so were the Saints- too old for breaking and too young to tame. Don't go about calling anybody who doesn't think or act like you, crazy- Namaste from Ontario Peace be upon all

Not many people can sing a song this familiar in a way as revelatory as this. No stage show needed, no costumes, no makeup. Just a full commitment to the song. And a reinvention of it based on her feelings about some aspects of Catholicism and, maybe, other things.
Just a quick FYI - Sinead decided to do this performance just before she went on air...No sound check , no rehearsal but she nailed it. One of the most powerful live performances I've ever seen.

I'm still grieving even though it has been more than two months. I realized after her death that I wasn't just a super fan of Sinéad going back to when I heard her for the first time at age 16. I realized that I am her acolyte, and she my spiritual mother, the Universal Mother. She has done as much for me to influence my approach to life, my compassion for others, and my desire to still be here on this crazy earth as anyone else I have actually known. She rests in glory: Sister, Mother, Friend, Lover, Teacher, Prophet. Shuhada Sadaqat. Thank you.

"Keep your eye's wide the chance won't come again." That line so perfectly sums up our current moment: If Trump and his wanna-be dictators are not stopped now, the chance will not come again. Surely not in our lifetimes and perhaps never. Wake up, America!
her singing is amazing and sends a shiver through me, she sings with such passion its unreal, and her beliefs she be respected, She is not afarid to speak out and i respect her for it,
@ticklecreek She knows her own voice. She does that deliberately to somewhat soften her powerful singing style. It's possible that in pre-show sound check the audio engineer suggested she do that to steady the sound and level the output. And she looks & sounds quite sane to me. This is her work, she does it with passion.
Okay, so I'm really starting to get addicted to this performance. I think it's for sure in her top five of all time. What are her best performances? Troy at Pinkpop 1987. War at Bob Dylan in 1992. This is to Mother You, Rome '97. Last Day of Our Acquaintance in '03. And this one.

I admit I was a little shocked by her appearance--just because I hadn't seen her in some time, as I said. The thing that shocked me more than her appearance is the lack of fire and passion in her eyes and her voice! Some of you may know if it's true about her taking antidepressants?? I just hope she is happy and well!
I feel bad that I, like many others misjudged her act of courage. She was brave to risk her career to convey an important message. Her heart was in the right place and change in the church did come. But without internet, we got the spin from the press.
Great performance by Sinead, she was so right about the sexual abuse in the Catholic Church and it led to Pope Benedict resigning. Well done, such a great truth warrior, RIP Sinead.

Sinead O'Connor... Hallelujah For Speaking The Truth ...I Believe That Individual Faith Is Within Individuals Hearts 💕
She is crazy and deluded. There is more abuse in the bioyscouts than the RC Church.
bob dylan spoke about it first obviously as she was singing his song ..
Bob Dylan must have been speechless when he heard this voice singing this song. I don't think any one else could have paid justice to this revolutionary song like this woman did.
R.I.P Sinead,
I doubt it. He was probably thinking there she goes again, singing other people's songs...
Not even Bob Dylan himself.😮

I love how she dedicated it to the Pope!
