My God. She sings The Foggy Dew, Danny Boy, & Molly Malone, songs we’ve all heard a thousand times, by a thousand different artists, and it’s like we’re hearing them for the very first time. The sign of a true artist, a special soul…🙏☘️🎼🎭😇♥️
Yes, indeed. You may like her on Dave Letterman's late show with Van Morrison, the Chieftains singing a most beautiful song. Another one is with the great Kris Kristofferson (sp?). She sang by herselfi Danny Boy and Don't cry for me Argentina. Oh, her voice was so beautiful and she was so young at the time. Most of all, she spoke on behalf of the voiceless - a brave young Irish woman. Ireland lost a pot of gold - a brilliant young woman.
yes, very true! Any song sung by Sinèad has something magical, poignant, sweet and penetrating ... I still haven't found any singer who has made my heart vibrate so strongly and intensely as her voice and her interpretation ... we will miss her dearly Sinèad, but really so much... 👏💔👏
Oh my word. Never did I expect to be blown away into a state of mesmerized goosebumps by the song "Molly Malone" -- a simple little folk ditty we've all heard thousands of times since childhood. ONLY Sinead could use that fragile, haunting, sea-siren of a voice to make us realize that this is a flipping GHOST STORY. A poor peasant woman DIES because no one is there to save her from poverty and illness, and even her GHOST doesn't get to rest, but carries on the work that defined her, that was all she had. Sinead was so incredibly young here, and already knew how to interpret a song like no one else. What an artist.
Brilliant analysis of a "simple" song. And Sinead embodies, enlivens each syllable, word and note of this ballad. And she knew it. Bel Canto - the singer becomes the essence of the song. Exhausting, like baring one's soul w/ every breath.
My goodness I’ve never seen any other artist sing with such passion & emotion like Sinead does. It makes my heart go into the pit of my stomach rip sweet lady 😢💚
Hello,i`m from germany, and i can say Sinead had the greatest voice i have ever heart. Like an angel. Everytime when i hear this song i have tears in my eyes. Also when she sings don`t cry for me argentina or danny boy. Sooo great
Sinaed had raw talent unmatched by any other artist. We were blessed to have had her and poorer in her passing. May she rest peacefully together with her son.
Thank you, Sinead, Thank you for your unforgettable contribution to the beauty and art of song. Long live to Ireland. With sympathy from a french gaelic friend
Since she passed away, i am listening all of her songs over and over again like I re discovering them. Some I know and most I am just discovering them..she was an inspiration for my generation and had all talent; beauty, voice, braverness, kindness and an angel spirit. This song and the way she is soo into it just making me cry 🥺😭😭 RIP Sinead🙏🙏🙏
One of the most authentic performer of the last 40 years. No superficial acting, no pretentions, straight and simple - pure perfection. She'll be sorely missed - but then again... I'll be eternally grateful that I could share the same age she lived and worked in.
As a child I was raised to this song by my grandmother, who had a sweet voice, but Sinead’s is outstanding. Her voice, is haunting, as is the song. Perfect!

Absolutely beautiful! Sinead you had the voice of an angel. So much talent taken from this world too soon. RIP Sinead O’Conner the music industry will never be the same. I hope you have now found peace xx😢
You were sent here to share your angelic voice and to defend those who suffered in silence. Time proved you were right all along. Rest in peace, rebel.
While I absolutely LOVE this version, check out Patty Gurdy's version. She released it this year along with with very cool and kinda haunting video (actually, it may be in the recommends of this vid). It's incredible. It's in a similar style to Sinead's version. She has a beautiful, yet haunting voice, and she's an incredible hurdy-gurdy player, which compliments this song perfectly.
All her accepella is just out of this world...a voice that is so evocative, it drags tears from stone.Fills hearts with love and the sorrow she so effortlessly sings and conveys through her soul. Xxxxxx. Love ❤️❤️ her music and style ...original artist one of a kind.xx
We will play this at Mum's Australian funeral. Our mum, Molly is 104 years old and always wanted to go to Ireland where her dad was born in Cork. There's little hope of that happening, but she has always loved this song. Sinead does it best.
Oh, Sinead. I'm an Engish woman once married to an English man. This hits hard. And the same time, it comforts me. You belted this out like a real woman.
Standing on Hill 16 after Dublin won the All Ireland and hearing this echoing throughout Croke Park will be a memory that sticks with me forever. Rest in Peace our beautiful Sinead 💙
Sinead embodies and exudes the spirit of the Irish woman. Her rendition of this old and beautiful ballad haunts the soul. Sweet Molly Malone is smiling from heaven above.
The world is truly a much sadder place without the presence of Sinead O'Connor. Such a beautiful song but hearing it its so very sad and quite empty. A reminder of what the world is missing. RIP Sinead O'Connor. 🍀
As an Irishman, I feel deeply towards this women, we had troubles! Humanly, personally and politically. But she is still standing strong through it all, bless her xx
The Irish people are so lucky to call her one of their own. This woman is pure magic, a voice of calming serene and beauty. I still can’t get over her haunting yet soothing calls...it’s too much for the world to appreciate.
I posted this on facebook in 2015 with the comment "I always like the song Molly Malone, but never imagined it could bring me to tears". That post got a few "me too"s. RIP, Sinead. You've brought me to tears again.
So many years I have sung this Irish song to thousands of sick and old people in about 100 Nursing Homes around Perth, Western Australia for over 15 years as a hobby. Not realizing the background story of this beautiful song. It brings tears to my eyes to know the indepth meaning. Thank you Sparklemmm for your upload. Richard Boudville - Perth, Western Australia. 23/04/2015.
Richard Boudville I too have sung this song often, but Sinead missed the cadence of this song. It's a song of vibrance and life and love, then tragic death & haunting. The first half should be be sung with joy & gusto, the second half with a sense of loss, tinged with the feeling that she is not totally gone. But ultimately this is song of life, of living, not of death.
David Keenan I'm only learning this song, but I disagree that the first part does not have life and love in it; maybe the sadness and inevitable fate is foreshadowed (no fishmonger had a happy life in those days, I suppose - pretty or not), but still - I see passion for life in the song, just a different kind of passion.
God I love this song! Whatever the artist, Sinead O'Conner is one of the best! I'm German but it was always a lullaby for my little son. Now he's 5 years old and he sings the song himself almost perfectly considering he only understands part of it. It has accompanied me in my life for more than 40 years. I give credit to the Irish for this song. One of the most beautiful lids I know! If I ever get to travel to Ireland again and have the privilege of visiting Dublin, then the local press shouldn't care that a little goofy German guy hugged the statue of Molly Mallone for over an hour. The best memories in my life are associated with this song. Because every time my family gets together and a family celebration was particularly nice, one of us starts singing the song. All conversations break off and my entire family slowly agrees.
Well said, singers sing, artists perform. She found the spirit of this song like no other could in my opinion. My Dad was from the liberties in Dublin (the slums of Dublin the 1930’s) I was overjoyed to find this version to use at his funeral. I play it to engage with him now and then. Every time.....

Sinead will transcend you to a different world with her deeply rooted vocals.
She's an awesome artist. Her voice gives me goosebumps when she sings this song. She works with her voice like an angel. Hearing her singing this sing is the most beautiful act in her career
I first learned this song in primary school; we were all silent and most were crying. I'm glad I finally learned the name of the song so I could hear it again.
I think that this dear lady has done well considering the issues she has had in her life. She is a very good singer who has a lovely voice. I wish you well Sinead I hope you have lots of happiness, love, Good health & long life. BE BLESSED GIRL >?
I think she hasd one better than well! considering she is a CON-WOMAN! She is m-I-m-I-n-g. Every single Sin. O' video is lip sync-ed - even 80's - this is disgusting. I knew she was crap but, WOW! Butter wouldn't melt liar!
As an American, our media owes her a big apology for how she was treated back in the day. Her recent documentary made me realized i missed all her music. im a bigger fan than ever.
It is not just the media. All those "Christian" Muricans that may or not go to church and look down on others, vote Trump or any Republican hate monger, hate it when tax money benefits fellow citizens in need, screaming "praise Jesus" and not even loosely following his teachings of love and respect. FU Murica!
My dad used to sing this to me when I was a kid, I'm 53 now, so this is my 2nd favorite version. Beautiful.
This is one of a few songs that remind me so much of my dad, it chokes me. He loved to sing it after a few drinks.

She's an awesome artist. Her voice gives me goosebumps when she sings this song. She works with her voice like an angel. Hearing her singing this sing is the most beautiful act in her career
My favorite Irish song sung by my favorite singer, love you my sweet Irish lass
☘️ Sinead O'Connor was an Irish singer with a beautiful voice. I liked her, especially when she sang Irish folk songs. I'm so sorry. R.I.P. ☘️😪 🇮🇪 .
Hauntingly beautiful. Exquisite expression by a truly gifted artist and natural storyteller. 🥹😢❤
Her voice comes across time and space to haunt my soul. Unforgettable.
this woman has one of the most amazing voices in the world .
I first learned this song in primary school; we were all silent and most were crying. I'm glad I finally learned the name of the song so I could hear it again.
Transfixing and transporting me to the streets of Dublin broad and narrow. I thank you Sinead for your lovely rendition of this timeless song.
Rip Sinead 😢
I think that this dear lady has done well considering the issues she has had in her life. She is a very good singer who has a lovely voice. I wish you well Sinead I hope you have lots of happiness, love, Good health & long life. BE BLESSED GIRL >?
Ditto
I think she hasd one better than well! considering she is a CON-WOMAN! She is m-I-m-I-n-g. Every single Sin. O' video is lip sync-ed - even 80's - this is disgusting. I knew she was crap but, WOW! Butter wouldn't melt liar!
Bill Wyman is it not her voice bugger.
Is she miming bugger it?
Bill Wyman
Think she's double track recorded with a bit of distortion, so its hard to tell.
Sinead had no vanity but was still beautiful. She had a raw honesty that’s not always appreciated but you must admire it. RIP.
Just wonderful. She draws such power and raw emotion from this simple ditty. Astonishing.
She was too good for this world. RIP Queen 👑💔😢
As an American, our media owes her a big apology for how she was treated back in the day. Her recent documentary made me realized i missed all her music. im a bigger fan than ever.
Not just US media, our UK media seems to be permanently out to destroy successful people
It is not just the media. All those "Christian" Muricans that may or not go to church and look down on others, vote Trump or any Republican hate monger, hate it when tax money benefits fellow citizens in need, screaming "praise Jesus" and not even loosely following his teachings of love and respect.
FU Murica!
la voix d'un ange. Tu partages ma vie depuis 30 ans. T u vas me manquer Sinead
