12:22 Yeah exactly. If you're gonna blame GSP for "not being a finisher", why not blame all the finishers in the division for failing to finish GSP? It's not like a decision loss is more impressive than a decision win...
The thing what kills me though is how dominant GSP was through so many of them. Like the Fitch fight, he absolutely took him apart. Yeah it went to decision but look how he absolutely mutilated him. So when people say about the decisions, they ignore his domination.
I actually believe that GSP really tryna finish his opponents, but his opponents are tough SOBs and were willing to get incinerated by him. Koscheck and Fitch weren't the same after the GSP beatdown, especially Koscheck who used to be a tough mofo to became very afraid of taking hits from other opponents who isn't GSP. also, the standards of getting stopped back then was far different from what we have now, take a look at Fitch fight. the fight could have been stopped in 8 different times inside 3 rounds.
@@eetfuk3571 Yeah exactly. It's like again, in the Koscheck fight. GSP broke his orbital. But people forget that and just accuse him of decision winning? That's not decision winning that's damaging dominance with nothing more than a jab across 5 rounds and it showed on Koscheck's eye.
@@J1283-s1k It absurd that people will criticize a champion because the people he fought were too tough to finish. Most of the people he fought didn't have any kind of history kf getting starched or submitted, or at lesst not when he fought them
@@reservoirfrogs2177 Exactly man. It's like the old classic champions and their records. Guy's like Randy couture with a record of 19 and 11. While that would look pretty poor on face value, when you look at the absolute murderers row of killers he fought time in time out and the accomplishments he had, the first 2 division champion, one of only 2 over the age of 40 to have won a belt and he did it 4 times, beat legends like Lidell, Ortiz, Belfort. But that's just it, the guys back in the day ducked absolutely no one and fought warrior after warrior no matter the risk. But people never look at the context.
a guy with a karate background ragdolling NCAA Div 1 wrestlers with ease, outpointing/out striking every strikers he fought (yes, GSP out struck them on feet without ground and pounding them), out grappling almost every grapplers he fought, and defending his title against killers and definitely druggies while fighting clean is something to behold. GSP is the clear GOAT!
For me, it was Khabib challenging GSP for a superfight but demanding it at 155lbs despite he himself having to kill himself routinely to get down to that weight given he walks around close to something like 190lbs and despite the fact that GSP had never ever fought at 155, was at the time stated to be more comfortable at 185lbs and was near the end of his career in his very late 30's meaning it would be silly to ask him to go 15lbs under his earlier weight of 170lbs. That Khabib didn't dare fight GSP at a weight closer to his natural weight and instead begged GSP to, for the first time in his career, go as low for him as 155lbs to make sure Khabib maintained a certainty for superiority was very suspect to me. Unlike GSP who after 4 years came back and submitted Bisping for a belt in a heavier weight class to become a two division champ. That's why I put Khabib closer to lightweight goat than UFC goat.
Khabib is definitely the Lightweight Goat. However, in the UFC, GSP and Jon Jones are 50-50 imo of who should be considered the greatest ever, resume wise it is for sure Jones, but GSP never tested positive in any fight.
i think khabib is the most dominant fighter of all time. however, he only had 4 title fights and 3 defences. by that same logic of khamzat takes the belt and defends it 3 times before he retires he could also be considered the goat….khabib had the potential to be the goat but never got to show it sadly. would’ve loved to see him tear the lightweight division even more over the years
@@ZBOXINGTALK Yes I feel the same. In terms of finishers and even defences I feel Jones edges GSP but in terms of clean, undisputable legitimacy in his wins I feel GSP wins. Unfortunately I think Anderson had too many losses but there's no denying in his prime he's one of the absolute GOATS. I feel the same for Mcgregor. Short lived? Yes. But undeniable. The man in his prime was scary good. But when we look at longevity, I think Jones and GSP do it best. Again like I say though, Khabib absolutely gagging for GSP to, for the first time in his career, move so far down as lightweight at a time where he was comfortable at middleweight and just had the balls to fight for a second weight division title and Khabib couldn't even face moving closer to his natural weight, that was disappointing for me.
@@J1283-s1k There was a clip of a reporter asking Khabib if he would fight GSP at 170, and Khabib flat out said no. Khabib himself knew fighting GSP at welterweight is suicide even though he was out of his prime.
Everyone will come here and say “Yeah but he lost twice” or “he lost to the rookie”. He lost once to the then greatest, avenged his lost and sealed the rivalry. He avenged and reclaimed against the then rookie. He went up a category and beat the main and greatest of that division The dude is an example of discipline and hardwork.
those were 2 very important losses to learn from. 1 was against a welterweight goat who he idolized so much that he was intimidated in the fight. the other is the opposite, he got cocky and underestimated Serra. His humbleness cost him 1 and his pride cost him 1. The big thing is he learned from it and went on to build the best resume (minus Jones), unlike Conor or Ronda. Conor was never the same since is Diaz loss and Ronda straight up retired. Nunes is in the stage where GSP was after the Serra loss. Only time will tell how she'll bounce back.
@@natediaz7447 Nevertheless he was the top guy of his division, who had defeated 3 big dogs before his GSP encounter. The point here is Rush said he’d beat the head of the table in another division and he did
Hope this blows up and gets you those views. Great examination of GSPs run, and completely agree with the 10/10 assessment. The first event I watched was his first shot at Hughes, and even with that loss, Georges was my guy from then on. People forget what it was like when he was tearing through the division for another shot at Hughes. My favorite fighter, the undisputed welterweight GOAT, and one of the best to ever do it.
My first UFC event (I had started to watch PRIDE and other Japanese orgs a couple years before that, but I knew nothing about the UFC guys) was Hughes vs GSP 2... I remember being puzzled because my older brothers and their friends were all confident that GSP would win the rematch, and me, being a n00b, was just like "but why? He lost the first time right? Why are you guys so confident he will win this time?" That was the event was made me follow both PRIDE and the UFC, and made me a life-long GSP fanboy. The rivalry between the GSP fans and the BJ Penn fans before UFC 94 was insane, nowadays younger fans act Georges winning this fight is "no big deal, he beat a smaller dude!" but damn, it was crazy. *TO TEH DEATH GEORGES!!!!* [/quits on the stool between rounds] I kinda wish Kimura mentioned the eyepoke in the first minute of the first round of the first fight, if greasegate was the controversy of their second fight, the eyepoke was the big talking point of the first one. There were no good gifs at the time, so a lot of BJ fans liked to pretend that the poke didn't happen, even if GSP had to go to the hospital with a scratched retina... Only Jake Shield managed to eyepoke GSP harder, but Penn's was more effective since it closed his eye so early in the fight...
His record alone and the fact that he avenged all his losses, proves being dominant over 5 rounds is more impressive than a flash KO sorta. Maybe not as fun to watch but i never missed a GSP fight, he was a total stud.
GSP actually had great chin. No one could touch it. Not hard enough anyway. Never ko'd. He tapped out against Serra, and it was a shot to the back of the temple that started it. Nowhere near his face. Only other shot that dropped him was Condit with a one of a kind kick to the side of the head, not the chin. Even Hendricks couldn't drop Georges
@@brettrogers8089 definitely not true. Hendricks who was juiced to the gills and possessed the power of Mjolnir in his left hand can't even send GSP into the Valhalla where he sent Fitch there inside a minute who took a brutal pummeling in the hands of St. Pierre. GSP is more well rounded of a mixed martial artist than even most of the champions of today. Ngannou - poor cardio, subpar striking technique (though fantastic power), still novice wrestling and jiu jitsu Glover - quite well rounded but unfortunately very old. Only complaint other than that is striking is often very loopy and stiff rather than straight and technical Adesanya - Fantastic striking but subpar wrestling and jiu jitsu Usman - well rounded everywhere except jiu jitsu. You can see how he avoids going to the ground with Burns and doesn't react the best on his back. He gets away with alot because of physicality Oliviera - good striking and jiu jitsu, poor wrestling Volkanowski - well rounded except subpar jiu jitsu Peter Yan - good everywhere except subpar jiu jitsu GSP: high level black belt Jiu jitsu, excellent wrestling (defensively and offensively), excellent striking (kicks and punches), great cardio. Still more well rounded than any of the champions. Think about how insane that is.
i have two personal GOATs for different reasons and on different terms, one is GSP if we look at a carrer as a whole from start to finish, he retired at his highest point and his carrer was incredible and mostly very dominant. but then there is Fedor who had a ruff decline but i think he in his Prime was the best fighter to ever do it, i don´t think any other fighter in his prime would beat prime fedor, Prime DC, jones and Cain would be a great fight but i am sure fedor would beat all 3 of them, not as dominant as he used to win but he would still beat them

LOVE THE VIDEO, however I disagree, Jon Jones is the GOAT, can we also talk about how khabib is not the goat and did not defend enough titles to even be in the conversation.
It takes one true great to truly know and to acknowledge another true great: Khabib said it correctly, without exaggeration or motive.... The reason for GSP being at least 8 out of 10 times considered either the greatest or among the top greatest is that he, according to both Khabib and his respected late father, was the first MMA to be an all-around great: he could strike (striking & kicking), he could grappling/wrestle, and he could implement first calibre BJJ. There was ONE reason alone that made Khabib and his father, when the elder Nurmagomedov was still alive, wanted Khabib to test himself against GSP: wrestling. Wrestling is the bread and butter of the Nurmagomedov family in MMA. They knew GSP didn't train as a wrestler growing up; that he only learned to wrestling once he's gotten into MMA; and yet they saw he EASILY out wrestling D1 wrestlers who grew up wrestling and who went on to wrestle in college in top wrestling schools... Anyway... I still giggle seeing big Michael Bisping calling GSP "little man" and, with the next clip, you're seeing him being squeezed into unconsciousness by that same "little man."
Usman has 10 decisions and 4 finishes in his last 14 fights GSP has 10 decisions and 4 finishes in his last 14 fights. The top is a different animal. Don't bring up Khabib. The guy only has 2 title defences compared to GSP 9 straight.
Except Usman had cheated blatantly way more than anything GSP did. Sure there is grease gate but GSP never held the cage, held gloves, strike the back of the head, head butt, eye gouge, or faked fouls. But diffrent, you also need to factor GSP is only 87kg vs Usman's 95kg.

Currently with society headed down dark roads at times it is soo important to have men like GSP show today's youth how to win and loose while always being a CLASS ACT!
GSP=GOAT
Yeah it's the only reason I can't relate with these new fighters coming up
Q: How GOOD was Georges St-Pierre Actually?
A: The best.
Mr Kimura I'm a total fan of yours and just want to say I appreciate and respect what you have to say...while I don't always agree you still make valid points and always risk swaying my opinion in your favor....keep up the good work young man...your Killin it!!!
I love seeing positive comments on RUclips. Thank you
I like the respect man good to see that people like you still exist
When I saw this I remembered Askren's "I'm older than you" reply to Usman's "young man"
12:22 Yeah exactly.

@@ZBOXINGTALK this, if it wasn't for the cheating, most people would call Bones the goat
i think khabib is the most dominant fighter of all time. however, he only had 4 title fights and 3 defences. by that same logic of khamzat takes the belt and defends it 3 times before he retires he could also be considered the goat….khabib had the potential to be the goat but never got to show it sadly. would’ve loved to see him tear the lightweight division even more over the years
@@ZBOXINGTALK Yes I feel the same.
He went up a category and beat the main and greatest of that division
The dude is an example of discipline and hardwork.
Bisping is not the greatest middleweight, not even close to it, in fact he is the worst ufc champion of all time.
those were 2 very important losses to learn from.
He also lost to Hendricks and retired to avoid the rematch
@@natediaz7447 Nevertheless he was the top guy of his division, who had defeated 3 big dogs before his GSP encounter. The point here is Rush said he’d beat the head of the table in another division and he did
@@lunafreed I forgot some people would also make this claim
I will never understand why people try to make jones the goat even if he is a cheater....
GSP has achieved EVERYTHING and more important HE'S CLEAN
For me it's jones 3 gsp 2 silva 1
No khabib
@@batboy555 khabib only had 3 defenses if he had a few more for sure but he's definitely top 10
Didn't GSP lube himself up like a midget in a 1970s porno in a fight?
GSP is #2 for me if we're going p4p if not I got Fedora, Vovanchyn, then GSP, with Wanderlei Sylvia, then Silva with Penn after that.
Why are you guys so confident he will win this time?"
That was the event was made me follow both PRIDE and the UFC, and made me a life-long GSP fanboy.
The rivalry between the GSP fans and the BJ Penn fans before UFC 94 was insane, nowadays younger fans act Georges winning this fight is "no big deal, he beat a smaller dude!" but damn, it was crazy. *TO TEH DEATH GEORGES!!!!* [/quits on the stool between rounds]
I kinda wish Kimura mentioned the eyepoke in the first minute of the first round of the first fight, if greasegate was the controversy of their second fight, the eyepoke was the big talking point of the first one.
Love GSP, and I love how you turned the negative of what happened to your video into a positive. Good on you good sir
Great vid! Your content is awesome
Get off the crack!
The fact that he fought in the pre-USADA Era and still dominated was very impressive
GSP is the perfect example of TMA transitioning perfectly into MMA and mixing it all. George demolished Elite NCAA Wrestler with their own wrestling
His record alone and the fact that he avenged all his losses, proves being dominant over 5 rounds is more impressive than a flash KO sorta. Maybe not as fun to watch but i never missed a GSP fight, he was a total stud.
holy I never realized how many killers gsp fought, his resume is something else
Kiyon is my go to guy for mma content , it’s always good to hear a fellow Canadians opinion .
Absolute goat, no doubts about it
You know you're old when GSP is considered history
The greatest of all time is how good GSP was
Edit: you said gsp doesnt have a chin yet was only ko'd once his whole career smh
He said he doesn’t have the greatest chin ,which is true
He couldn't knock anyone out either..
Pierre. GSP has a great chin, but he has so much scar tissues like Diaz bros.
@@flashinthepan3273 - well, if he was fighting people other than championship contenders at the absolute top of their games, if might have knocked more people out.

The original video is what got me into MMA altogether!
I got the original video in my recommendations during the first lockdown in 2020. I've been on a deep dive into MMA since then. Love this sport, love GSP, love your channel.
GSP transcends time. His training methods were ahead of their time. There are fighters who don’t train like him even today. He even did gymnastics in addition to everything else he was doing.
Appalled that RUclips bothered Kiyon over the first GSP video! Glad Kiyon did it again, admirable dedication! I hope Kiyon gets to meet & interview his hero GSP some day soon 🙏
The goat🐐
Watching the ads before the video… this better be a 10/10.
Edit: Good Job. Great insight!
I dont think its appreciated enough how insanely difficult of a debut fight Ivan Menjivar is
I feel like couture is underrated when it comes to the goat Mount Rushmore
He is, but I rate Vovanchyn and Fedor over him. Given he is my #2 UFC heavyweight especially considering he is the first double champ.
Couture is being forgotten and it's said but he is 100% a Head on mma's mount Rushmore. 5 time champ in the old school way. That means he actually lost a belt and then regained it another 4 times after, in 2 divisions. That's unheard of before or after. 95% of champs don't regain a belt even once after losing it, let alone 4.
@@Dukeflyhawker - That's unheard of, because 95% of champs don't constantly lose their belts. But of course, Randy is a legend.
The time period when Randy came back to the UFC to beat Sylvia and Gonzaga was insane, nowadays new fans might go "who and who??? lol those 2 cans were never any good"
but in 15 years, new fans will say the same stuff about guys like Stipe and JDS...

@@tylerrobbins8311 Fedor has had a very mixed record after his win streak broke. Anytime he has fought a good HW he loses now. Wins over HW Chael, 2018 Mir or 2019 HW Rampage aren't that good. When he fought Bader or Mitrione he lost (badly) and it's not like either are fantastic HWs.

Keep up the good work KK
GSP is more well rounded of a mixed martial artist than even most of the champions of today.
Ngannou - poor cardio, subpar striking technique (though fantastic power), still novice wrestling and jiu jitsu
Glover - quite well rounded but unfortunately very old. Only complaint other than that is striking is often very loopy and stiff rather than straight and technical
Adesanya - Fantastic striking but subpar wrestling and jiu jitsu
Usman - well rounded everywhere except jiu jitsu. You can see how he avoids going to the ground with Burns and doesn't react the best on his back. He gets away with alot because of physicality
Oliviera - good striking and jiu jitsu, poor wrestling
Volkanowski - well rounded except subpar jiu jitsu
Peter Yan - good everywhere except subpar jiu jitsu
GSP: high level black belt Jiu jitsu, excellent wrestling (defensively and offensively), excellent striking (kicks and punches), great cardio. Still more well rounded than any of the champions.
Think about how insane that is.
only person to rival him is dj even if hes not a champ
The disrespect of not having DJ and Aldo as GOAT candidates
people use to disdain lighter fighters for some reason. Myself included. But they absolutely deserve to be in the GOAT conversation.
i have two personal GOATs for different reasons and on different terms, one is GSP if we look at a carrer as a whole from start to finish, he retired at his highest point and his carrer was incredible and mostly very dominant.
but then there is Fedor who had a ruff decline but i think he in his Prime was the best fighter to ever do it, i don´t think any other fighter in his prime would beat prime fedor, Prime DC, jones and Cain would be a great fight but i am sure fedor would beat all 3 of them, not as dominant as he used to win but he would still beat them
Well said
Kiiyon’s gotta be the undisputed G.O.A.T of MMA content creators. Love the way you breakdown your videos and analyze these MMA careers. Lotta love and good luck to you🔥
LOVE THE VIDEO, however I disagree, Jon Jones is the GOAT, can we also talk about how khabib is not the goat and did not defend enough titles to even be in the conversation.
Sad that you didn't include DJ in the goat conversation.
Good guy GOAT - GSP, bad guy GOAT - JJ.
Usman has 10 decisions and 4 finishes in his last 14 fights
GSP has 10 decisions and 4 finishes in his last 14 fights.
The top is a different animal.
Don't bring up Khabib. The guy only has 2 title defences compared to GSP 9 straight.
3 but I agree he’s overrated
Except Usman had cheated blatantly way more than anything GSP did. Sure there is grease gate but GSP never held the cage, held gloves, strike the back of the head, head butt, eye gouge, or faked fouls. But diffrent, you also need to factor GSP is only 87kg vs Usman's 95kg.
