How GOOD was Michael Bisping Actually?
It seemed liked like Michael Bisping was never going to be a champion in the UFC. The British fighter became one of the best middleweights in the promotion by beating his opponents with high volume striking and pure grit. But he would always come up short when it came to earning a title shot. Which for a time, labelled him as the greatest journeyman in the sport. So how good was Michael Bisping Actually?

-Never tested positive for any illegal enhancement

Michael Bisping being an absolute legend is undeniable

@@mustaquimahmedtanbeer2437 Considering how many times Bisping got beaten by proven cheaters, I'd be ducking the hell out of Romero too

@@Flello001 That would of been a good one too lol
It would only be 1/2 if the working eye had perfect vision, i doubt it, so it would have to be less than that, which makes his achievements way better than that of 1 eye

@@pereiraplaza222 what is the point in bringing race into it ? Or is that all you think about ? CRT much ?
I used to not like Bisping at all back in the day. Now he’s one of my favorite fighters ever. Dude is the real deal
Same. I loved watching that H-Bomb when it happened, but I have a hard time watching it now.
And when I found out he only had one eye for his last few fights, that elevated him to legendary status in my book.
@@pkz420 I think he had one eye for his last 10 fights, since the vitor fight
i think we all went through this exact same road. respect!
That is exactly how I felt/feel about him. Dude grows on you.
As others have mentioned when first I became aware of Mike Bisbing I didn't like his loud, obnoxious antics. Another loud mouth Britt is what I thought.. but when I became aware of his vision loss.. missing eyeball? Mad respect ensued. He has earned his right to talk smack..
"I've not seen a fighter for so long remain a top contender and not get a title shot"....cries in Jacare Souza
Both not even close to the length that bisping was there
Cries in Tony Ferguson :(
Cries in CM Punk
Saifullah Khan that one’s even worse he wasn’t just a contender he was the number 1 contender for like 4 years.
@Pete He was rightful champ.
Bisping's story is that of utter grit, determination, bullheadedness and an indomitable will to never give up, never back down and to strive for greatness against all odds. The kind of warrior's spirit it takes to become a world champion fighter with only one eye is almost super-human, and is something most of us can scarcely even imagine. His place in the UFC hall of fame may be simultaneously the most hard-earned and well-deserved of all time - truly legendary.
I met Michael when I interviewed him for a TV Channel I worked for. It took us ages to set up the interview and ate into his lunch break in a busy media schedule. He didn't complain, answered all questions and was happy to pose for photos at the end. He was a real gent.
The only guy who never used steroids at the time everyone was juicing
Lol ok dude just because you love him. No need to defame others.
GSP too
Everyone at the top of their sport uses juice. You can’t get to that level without juicing man.
Mark Hunt is the posterboy for anti-roids though.
@@wokethelast8498 tf do you watch, football? The UFC don’t play that shit no more. For the record I also like football
Pretty crazy how hated he was (at least in the states) and now he’s looked at as the clean underdog who became champ late in his career.
Honestly don't get why he's hated. Seems like typical brit banter. Which is hilarious
NinjapowerMS Personally it was the lead up to the first Rockhold right where I started shifting my opinion of him. I was pretty young when he fought Hendo and he’s probably my favorite fighter of all time
@@NinjapowerMS Loads of Americans are blind to Brit humour. He also made himself the villain at every chance (title fight aside) to sell his fights, which always makes fans appreciate you in hindsight. Look at Chael Sonnen, perfect example of it
Great villains tend to become the best heros
As an American, his Britishness makes him way better.
MIKE is 1 of the Toughest
Men of ALL TIME!!!!" He fought with "1" EYE!!
He won the belt with 1 eye he fought GSP with 1 eye the guy is fucking though.
Indeed, indeed. What a true tough guy.
Mike Bizbane, Sorry if I missed spelling of the last name.
That's why I call him "Left Hook Larry"! With RESPECT ALWAYS.
The true BMF
And he almost beat GSP with ONE EYE. Absolute LEGEND.
I think you underplay how having 1 eye and still fighting on and winning the title is just an incredible, albeit foolish, accomplishment.
And nobody knew about the eye otherwise his career would have been over. He hid it from the UFC, doctors, everyone apart from his own personal doctor.
A fuckin men brother he could be considered the goat for this reason alone plus fighting juiced up competition.
@@chrisjanuary6018 yeah he gets a lot of slack, i’ve heard people say he was the weakest champion in UFC history, he was a legend and in such a bad state when he fought GSP, broken ribs and one eye, imagine his performance without those injuries
I think the eye injury is vastly overstated. Bisping could still see out of his right eye, just not very clearly. He got his right eye replaced with an optic lens (not an egg for an eyeball) after he retired and before that trained himself to fight with his remaining vision. While it is commendable he kept fighting like that and had success, it doesn't quite make him the handicapped badass champion his fans make him out to be. Plus he keeps changing his story as to how he got the eye injury, first it was initially the result of a training injury, then it was the result of fighting juiceheads as part of his anti-PED crusade. Fans are lapping it all up though because its a sounds good, feels good story even though its not necessarily true.
Bisping gets credit nowadays because he's the one talking and writing history, and the fact he won a belt in a period of time where MMA was seeing a massive surge of fans thanks to Conor McGregor. Fans simply hopped on the bandwagon and if Bisping never won the belt, he would not be getting even a fifth of the recognition he's getting nowadays.
@@theo4014 He's called a weak champion because he refused to defend his Middleweight title against top contenders of the division which you're obliged to do as champion, and effectively held the belt hostage while never looking dominant.
His first title defence was against a 46 year old Dan Henderson who was #13 in the rankings and despite Bisping being a heavy favourite and the fact Hendo was the worst version of himself, Hendo was still able to give Bisping hell. He knocked him down twice and badly hurt him while looking competitive, Bisping managed to get the decision win albeit controversially due to a number of factors which weakened his standing as champion. If #13 ranked Hendo could give Bisping serious problems, what could the top contenders Jacare Souza, Gegard Mousasi, Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker do? It didn't look good for Bisping, yet he never even tried to defend his belt against them.
I'm still resentful he never gave Jacare Souza (the #1 contender) a chance at the belt, and its not like Jacare is a nobody either. Jacare is a fan favourite and the former Strikeforce Middleweight champion, anyone who really cared about MMA knew who Jacare was. But Bisping never fought him, thanks to the return of GSP who wanted to fight at 185.
@@madgavin7568 no one cares Owen you loser😂Jesus christ wrote all that for nothing
Did he really rack up those wins with just one eye? He's gotta be one hell of a fighter, and a wise one at that to determine distance and cover blind spots
He did it all with one eye
Ya he’s poped it out a few times now that it doesn’t need to be hidden. Pure empty socet
I wouldn't call it wise to get in a ring with professional fighters with just one eye when doing so already cost you the other one. You only get two, and if you lose them both.....
@@zalamael To be fair he lost it getting headkicked by someone on steroids, wasn't a fair fight. But yeah totally agree, I would never take that kind of risk ever again if the outcome could be complete blindness :/

"Beat Silva in his PRIME" lmao 😭
Silva wasnt in his prime lmao, after his leg break he was never the same, plus it’s debatable if michael even won
Silva wasn’t in his prime and he should’ve been given the win after he KO’ed Michael
Everyone beat steroid heads. Yeah him and Izzy costa and even many nfl players and track athletes never test positive. Silva was also like 41, 42?That’s not prime
I was starting to lose interest in UFC and MMA before I found this channel and it has really given it a renewal in my mind. Makes me want to go back and watch some of these classic fights and legendary careers.
That is worth going over. I haven't followed up on the latest. Nothing to watch, especially when women are so juiced they look like dudes.

I listen to Bisping's podcast. He absolutely hates TRT Vitor. Cost him an eye with that move.
Bispimg winning the title was crazy. Very cool how it all lined up after falling just short so many times.
The dude fought everyone while clean and with one eye he's a badass end of and he's a good northern lad to go with it
I really dont get why so much people hate Michael Bisping. He fought CHAMPIONS without taking steroids (which the majority of fighters in every division does) and WITHOUT an eye.

Gotta love the count
I was always so happy when he got his title. I used to think he was a bit arrogant, until I attended a seminar with him, and he was a really top guy. At the start, we had uneven numbers so when he had us pummeling for warmup, I had no partner so he partnered with me, and he was really good at explaining techniques, and answered any questions.
Believe you me I farkin love that mad lad bisping

Finally! A michael bisping video appreciation!
Seeing this, the 'pillow hands' remarks are even more ridiculous. Esp after uncle Chael saying the fight vs Bisping was the hardest he's ever been hit.
They do have a point though one thing Bisping missed was power. Ofcourse he knocked out Rockhold but lot of the fights he lost he would have won if he had more power. Lot of the fights he lost he was winning if it wasn't for his opponents having more power.
That's not exactly what Chael said. He said that of all the people who hit him, Bisping's punches hurt the most.
Good job on this one kiiyon.
I love this guy.

I just rewatched the Silva fight. Such a good showing by Bisping. Nothing was stopping him from winning that night
What a ride he took me and us on. At first we watched because we hated him. Then we watched because he started to grow on us. Finally we watched because we loved him.
This was really well done
The Silva win was actually unanimous, great video though love your content keep it up!
Was not a split decision with Silva. It was unanimous 48-47. I thought he deserved it on volume, and AS was too casual, so sure was he of getting a KO. It never came and Bisping clearly won. I am no Bisping fan, even as a Brit. His relentless lack of sportsmanship bothers me. But without doubt hats off for a phenomenal career from a genuine hall of famer.
