How GOOD was Dan Henderson Actually?
Dan Henderson became a double champ before anyone else. The former Pride Welterweight and Middleweight Champion was one of the most exciting fighters in MMA history. And that also lead to the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Championship. But he was never able to capture UFC gold

Justin Gaethje reminds me of Henderson...wrestling background, heavy hands, great chin and always comes to fight, tough as fuck, technical brawler

Henderson is a beast through and through. It only took 20 years of fighting for his granite chin to finally crack. Rampage Jackson said after a while it hurt to punch Dan in the face, that it was comparable to punching a brick wall. Henderson is one of the greatest wrestler and striker of all time. Dan Henderson’s career is a 10 out of 10! You are out of your mind to say otherwise
So convenient that Bisbing won a fight where I he clearly lost, AFTER Hendo announced he was retiring, win or lose.
Yea I shed a tear when Bruce announced and still. Dan hendo literally fought his ass of at 45 years old. He’s still a champ in my eyes
Bisping is undefeated in hometown decisions, officially anyway. If only Hendo got a third knockdown in the final round, it would have won him the fight.
I think this is pretty common knowledge, but Dan is also an amazingly nice and relatively soft-spoken guy. He lives in the Temecula area where he has his gym now, and while I wasn't around him a whole lot, a number of my friends trained with him back in the very early Quest days & the early days he moved there. He along with Randy Couture are guys that even families that didn't like fighting got along with.
Woohoo I love hendo!! Let’s see those naaaaasty bombs 💣!
How can anyone not love dan Henderson? Most humble fighter I’ve ever watched fight.
I didn’t know Hendo was the first fighter to hold two championship belts simultaneously in MMA history. Hands down one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport. I’d say a top 20 fighter. Evolved from an elite wrestler to an elite striker with several of the greatest KO’s in history. You also have to remember that PRIDE arguably had the better roster of fighters back then. And in my opinion they DID have the best fighters. The fact he held two belts in PRIDE at that time in history speaks volumes for me.
Dan even contemplated going for a third belt against Fedor while the promotion still existed. It never happened unfortunately and we never got to see Fedor vs Hendo when both men were arguably still in their primes. I would have liked to see Hendo fare against Mirko Cro Cop too, that would have been very exciting to watch.
its wild to hear how Chael talks about him now. Dude was/is a really special athlete
Saying top 20 is a slap in the face.
Out of all of these uploads of fighters, this one is the best to me. After 1997, I stopped watching MMA as I thought it was folding. I was unaware of StrikeForce. Dan Henderson and Vandi are my two favorite fighters.
After seeing Bisping on Joe Rogan, I laugh when people say he’s disrespectful.
That was all an act ~ he’s a completely humble guy.
He understood that he had to do and say what he done to sell a fight
Shawn Cupido ~ yup. He basically said that in the interview, too.
One of his got pissed at his actions and he had to take them aside and say “hold on! This is a show. If you do that, I look like a victim and I’m not the victim. You’re supposed to be the victim. Stop attacking back!”
Pretty funny interview. Check it out
Uh.... NO.
1. even true jerks are "nice" when they want to be
2. act or not - that's how he publically chose to "act". lol. Unless you're in pro wrestling or TV where you aren't playing yourself, then you're responsible for how you to choose to act. You can't claim later that he's a nice guy. He CHOSE to be disrespectful and obnoxious - whether he did so for money, or because he "meant" it or both - is something only he will know, and it's not our problem.
W H ~ I think I disagree. I think many fighters/boxers do the ‘act’ to try and make an issue where there is non and increase the draw but people who are assholes trying to act nice let things slip or make innuendoes. I didn’t see that here
Once I saw a "How good was" video on Henderson, I clicked immediately. I happened to watch this last night on the 4th of July. Fitting, as Dan is one of the only reasons to make me proud to be an American. You feel the same way I do about Dan and that's pretty awesome. Great job on this video, man.

9:52 - "it was super necessary"
Lmao I’ve never seen such level of necessity
I have followed MMA since the UFC inception in 1993 and I love your videos. I also was an amateur fighter for several years and love your analysis.
He was soo gud that he gave bisping the sleep he wanted.
Agree! Hendo is one of my favorites all time. With his world class wrestling experience its strange to see him get out fought on the ground with some of his opponents but when he got to his feet he was a beast with the power in his hands. I absolutely loved his big overhand right!
Hendo was always one of my favorites and undoubtedly an all-time great, but the loss to Jake Shields was a clear indicator that he was past his prime and needed to retire. The following 3-fight win streak, with a win over Fedor, presented the perfect opportunity to end his career on a high note. It was sad that he instead went back to UFC to go 4-7.
Dan Henderson did not have a "prime". He was elite-level for nearly his entire career.
I just have to comment that I’ve watched several of your videos now. They are well thought out, well research well-informed and well presented. I really appreciate your content. Thank you so much
How good was Jason Mayhem Miller? 😭
Hendo is definitely top 10 pound for pound. It’s like he would match his skill to his opponent, no matter how good or bad they were. He would always get rocked or taken down, and then he would do the same thing to them, and if nobody got finished you would have a split decision. Even the Rampage fight was very close. I’ve never seen a fighter have close fights at every echelon of the sport the way Hendo did.

I agree on Dan. He's one of my favorite fighters all time. Just based on his level of competition across several weight classes he belongs on the p4p list. I've met Dan on many occasions and was always engaging and just carried himself like an ordinary fella. I worked for a company that had Nate Quarry as a spokesman for it. Nate came to town the first time and noticed my Bas Rutten shirt and we started talking. In Memphis during May all types of events happen like a music festival and BBQ fest. BBQ fest is insane. Just loads of grill trailers with the world's best BBQ. The place I worked had a tent every year and Nate asked if I was going and I was so he asked to meet up and eat BBQ and talk mma. He told lots of stories of Hendo and Cotoure and about the early days at Team Quest. Saw videos of behind the scenes at Pride shows. Very interesting for sure. Nate absolutely hates Dana. He had a passion for the sport though. He seemed happy to find at least 1 hard-core fan to talk mma with. I was just going to let him be and not bring it up cuz I thought it prolly happened alot.
