    I love this guy’s how to build a skateboard series mainly because, first of all, he goes a lot more into what will fit with what, like what trucks will fit with what wheels, which i wish more videos went into, but he also goes into what brands you should buy from. Thats been my biggest issue since I started researching what I wanted for my first personal board because of all the different brands there are, and that ive been recommended. Keep this up!

    I don't know why I am watching this because I've been skating for 19 years but I'm glad I did. One thing I would like to add is that is that truck size is not an exact science, you can ride any size trucks on any size board, it just comes down to personal preference. I personally like skating trucks a little bit bigger than the deck, for example, I usually skate an 8.2 or a 8.38 size deck and I am currently on Indy 149 hollows. (149 Indys are "made" for a 8.5 deck ) try different products and find what works best for you, I have skated every truck brand except Destructo, and I find redeeming characteristics in every brand. Ace is my favorite, but I have pairs of Independent, and Tensors. Enjoy skating my friends!!

    • @adu3830
      @adu3830 Год назад

      Except Krux, those are the only trucks I couldn't find anything redeeming about, but truthfully I've only ever had the K4 trucks and the K5 supposedly fixed a lot of issues that the K4 had. (Also this is just a personal preference, you might love them but I found them unskateable.)

    You can slam mini logo then say you skate tensor, the other budget brand. Ive been meaning to get a pair of mini logo to try out but used to skate tensor i had the old rodney mullen trucks with the nose/tail slide pice. I loved them

    heyy i have been watching your videos on here and on tiktok for the past two days because I am a beginner and I already ordered my deck. I do have a question what truck size should I use for a 8.25 deck?

    • @MidnightSnackSkateboarding
      @MidnightSnackSkateboarding  3 года назад

      Hey homie! Best trucks for an 8.25 deck would be either, 8, 8.125, or 8.25 trucks. Those measurements are all in the Axle Width, so make sure you are looking at that size! I grabbed this information from the truck sizing chart in my description. Take a peak at that if you are still confused. 😊

    Heyo I know how late I am to the video but if someone could possibly answer this that would be great I am thinking of getting a 8.25 deck with 8.25 axle size but I want 55-56mm wheels so I was wondering if my wheels would stick out from underneath my board if I got 56mm wheels and a 8.25 deck and truck size

    • @tsijr915
      @tsijr915 Год назад

      You might need to get risers to prevent wheel bite if turning hard or shorter trucks. Not really size issue with wheels since they will be in more where Axel is

    Great video. What size tensor trucks do you recommend for a 7.75 board?

    • @ManlyMen1
      @ManlyMen1 2 года назад

      This is an old comment i know, but come on.. a 7.75??? The smallest anyone should go is 8.25, and tensor is one of the weakest truck brands, theres no point of riding them, buy thunders, indies, aces. Avoid ventures, tensor and other irrelevant brands

    • @ramrunsfast
      @ramrunsfast 2 года назад

      For Tensors measurements, it's going to be 5.25. These days people will say don't go with a small setup, but back in the early 2000s, it wasn't uncommon to ride a 7.75" to 8" board.
      That being said people who ride smaller setups usually have much smaller feet or are looking to do more technical tricks. The other person who commented isn't wrong 8.25" isn't a bad option as you will have more space on the board and will be more stable.

    • @adu3830
      @adu3830 Год назад

      @gabriel
      Terrible, Terrible advice. First off this is probably a child, so saying anything below a 8.25 is unacceptable is completely wrong, what if this dude is 5'2 100lbs? An 8.25 would be way to big for a kid like that. When I started skating in 2004 everyone was riding 7.5 decks so it can easily be done (personally I prefer an 8.38 but I'm 31 and 6 foot 4inches tall!) Secondly ventures is one of the oldest and most respected brands in the industry. They haven't survived 30+ years for no reason. They are one of the best street trucks on the market. Thirdly Tensors are not that bad at all. I have a pair of them on one of my street setups and they have lasted me 9 months! They have one of the smoother grinds in the industry and have mimicked the turning geometry of Independent so they actually turn really well now. They are not a bad a truck at all and they are cheap, so you are going to tell someone that's just getting into skateboarding to not get a cheaper truck?? When they don't even know if they are going to continue skateboarding??? Gtfo here man, your just a a young dude that's just following what's trendy in the industry right now without even probably giving any of these products a shot. Kids, I encourage you to try different brands, find what works and is comfortable for you, if you are young a 7.75 or an 8.00 may be a good starting point and it's always easier to go up a size then down a size. Ignore this toxic advice and do your own thing.

  • @dneck

    Moral of the story could also be DON'T ORDER ONLINE go to your local shop where they may have expertise and hook it up with the correct equipment and good recommendations. If you go enough and you're nice, you never know, they might start hooking it up with deals. Also you might make friends there you can go skate with!! 03:25 - of course some people live in areas where there aren't local shops so your advise is great. Just saying, your local shop might give the best recommendations

    I’m so glad skate manufacturers are adopting decimal inches (even if they are still using the fractions technically )

    But what about Braille Skateboards?!Lol! Just kidding. My friend bought his first board from and they charged him premium price for a beginner board. He could have got a pro complete set level for what he paid. That left me very sour towards them! He is a adult he should have researched better but the kids.. I feel that this is bad for kids thinking their getting a good deal instead get taken advantage of.
