v8 ski top speed 2022

  • This video will not change your life, but you might find it interesting to see the v8 ski doing speed run after speed run with changes every run to see what improvements can be had. How fast is the V8 powered personal watercraft? Since it will go faster next year, a better question is how fast is it in 2022? That is exactly what we are going to figure out in this video. We well be doing lots of speed runs and working to dial in the jet pump setup for the naturally aspirated 6.0 ls based v8 that is currently in the ski.

    a ski going 85 MPH is a win win in my book. If the fastest ski in the world and the V8 ski

    Great work guys , the pump can give more speed yet by having pressure bypass valves in front of the impeller in the housing that bolts to the transom . I run two pressure relief lines into one way valves that dump the water out the back beside the pump outlet . What this does is allows excess water pressure that can damage the pump tunnel to be managed and controlled so the tunnel does not inflate like a balloon ever so slightly each time you go top speed , reduces fatigue of the structure of the hull and drag .

    I made a game for you to play. You may have seen random numbers flashing on the screen. It might seem a little odd but I made a little game you can play if you want. Slight spoiler ahead so if you care about that then wait till the end of the video to finish reading this comment/play the game. Here is how it works the numbers flashing at the bottom left indicate how much faster or slower that run was compared to the previous one. The first run of the video speed is indicated by this --- and the second is indicated as +.2 meaning that run two is +.2 mph faster then run one. Run three is indicated as +.9 meaning it is .9 faster then run two and so on and so fourth. Playing this little scavenger hunt game will reveal the final top speed to the exact decimal point, and so to begin the game you need the exact speed of the first run. Which is 80.6 (it does go faster by the end of the video) There are a total of 14 runs with indicated speeds including first and last. Can you figure out what the speed is from all runs? leave your answer in a reply to this comment.

    I view it as a hotrod. It sounds awesome, and is a fun build but I don't expect a hotrod to be the fastest thing out there

  • @ericmorin9613
    @ericmorin9613 Год назад

    Speed is not subjective. The higher number is faster. It's an interesting log of the things you do but at the end of the day you need more pump that's pretty well it. More power will yield better results as well once you get bigger pump. Hats off to you tho pretty cool sounding ski and you've put allot of effort and time into it. Best of luck

    Love to see y’all messing around with the pump I have a question tho.. what is your timing at at WOT?? With your setup you should be in the 26-28 degrees timing with 93 octane

    • @JetSkiBrothers
      @JetSkiBrothers  Год назад

      I have been trying to keep the tune at the more safe end while going through and testing for the best pump setup. Just to trying to keep the engine going so we can keep testing. Max wot timing we have right now is 25 degrees and 92 octane fuel. I know there is a little more timing we can throw at it but didn't want to go there till the pump setup was optimized.

      @@Torch4ya yeah, a cam that favors higher rpm would helpful. Not sure why it isn't making the same rpm with the bigger pump when it should have plenty of power on tap as is.

    85 mph is super fast on a ski. People don’t realize it feels like doing 160 on land. A new rxpx 300 will do the same out of the box with the limiter off but that’s a 30k ski. Good job y’all! She’s got a hundred in her for sure

    You may need more pitch in the screws. The power made at lower rpm could improve speed. I don’t know if cavitation would be an issue. Best of luck. And…..well done!!!

    Curious about the torque curve, cam, etc. I know the ski/pump wants max RPM. Curious if the torque curve peak versus when it starts to decline could impact that. Water is a weird medium and I wonder if your max torque aligns closely to your max rpm on water. Just shooting ideas! Still... awesome project and you're inspiring me to (want to...) work on my XPLs lol.

      If you only had room for two water jets side by side you could double the amount of water at any rpm. Or even a jet boat pump would be a major improvement. You could extend the hull kind of like a drag bike extended swing arm for more room and stability.

  • @benth162

    If you go much faster than 85 you are going to need "Front Side Canards" to keep the nose leveled out. Bouncing, I believe, creates more drag. I just subscribed and it will be interesting to see what you come up with next.
